Remodeling Kitchen And Bath reviews in Orange

This was absolutely the worst experience of my life. We signed a contract at the end of October. Work was supposed to begin by the first week in November. We were told this would be an easy 3 to 4 week remodel. They didnt even start for 3 weeks! Someone always said someone was coming, but never showed. When they did show up, they left 15 minutes later. Sub sub (yes thats right, the subs found other subs!) contractors would show up and not know what to do because the supervisor never showed up, I dont speak Spanish and the subs didnt speak English. This just continued to get worse. My shower had to be done twice, the person doing it didnt know what he was doing I found out! And he cut my 12 x 24 tiles, then broke them (I ended paying even more!), and my shower liner had to be replaced because it started sinking into the wall! My tile floor did not end up the way I wanted it (until the second supervisor showed up) and they had to fix it. I was charged an additional $7980 because they put in a glass shower I didnt even approve and charged me extra for that and the quartz countertops. This was on top of the $17977 they bid in the first place. I had already purchased my cabinets, sinks, all bath hardware, tile, backsplash, mirrors, lighting, and all paint. It took them from November to February (and now March because my shower door is not right) to get the job done. This was the worst experience I have ever had! And I have had a house built from the ground up! I really felt taken by this company.

Ive only started the bid process but wanted to say how it has been going so far with this company. Jeffe, who took my call, was great. Very helpful, very professional. Got me scheduled with Sam the same day! So far so good.

Aaron is a great guy, very friendly and personable. The problem is that a contractor is only as good as his subs -- it was a huge tile job, and his guy was doing a fine job until he quit for apparently personal reasons. Like literally picked up his tile cutter and flounced midday. The plumber tried to up-sell us at every turn and their finish work was so bad they had to come back again. The plumber also had to replace a cartridge for the shower four times - after claiming it was our water pressure breaking the cartridge, though outside plumbers I consulted said that was impossible - keep in mind this house was built on 1936, and since I've owned it since 1994, have only replaced the shower fixture once... So the end result is that a four week estimate was doubled. This was our only bathroom, so that was awful. To cut corners the replacement tile guys laid tile and grouted on the SAME DAY. The tile guys had to spend a whole day sorting out the construction guy's horrible job of putting in a partial wall : it was leaning and shorter on top than the bottom....Aaron tried to claim it was a "old house" issue. Um, this was a wall YOUR GUY BUILT! By the end, we just cut our losses and corrected the things we knew we could to get them out. Like I said - Aaron is a good guy. He just needs to maybe take a hard look at his subs, and/or more closely examine their work before they move on.

It was a pleasure working with Jim and America Fischer. They kept us very well informed as to who would be showing up each day to work and noticed us of any changes to their expected arrival time. Jim (general contractor) was personally on the job site about 90% of the time and was able to field my numerous questions and requests. Jim, his two sons, and his subcontractors were all diligent workers and made good progress each day. As with any project of this nature, there were a few hiccups along the way. Jim and America made sure we were always satisfied with the agreed upon resolution to the issue. We are very pleased with the quality of the finished project and will recommend them to others.

The re-piping of our house is complete and the remaining work is in progress. Staff is kind, punctual and cleaned up at the end of the day. The team is very communicative, responsive and easy to work with.

Our dream to remodel our kitchen began a couple of years ago. We interviewed contractors but none worked out or followed up with us. We began to again search in the summer of 2017 and met with Mark of Horizon Construction as well as with other contractors. We were especially impressed when we visited the Horizon office to see cabinets and other materials. Also, we were very impressed by Ena and the staff. Mark had great ideas and helped us design a new kitchen for us. Work began in mid November (due to our schedule) and progressed well with workers showing up on time almost every day. Work included demolition, replacing all cabinets with granite tops and tile backsplash, creating an island with a sink which involved moving plumbing, widening of the doorway between the kitchen and dinning room, enclosure of a preexisting sliding door, new floors in the hallways, kitchen and dining rooms and creating a new gas line and venting exhaust for the new range and other electrical upgrades. The work progressed smoothly despite a few bumps in the road. Mark made certain all work was done to his high expectations. Ena and the office staff were always available to answer our questions. Inspections went smooth and quickly. The job was completed on schedule and to our satisfaction. We highly recommend Horizon Construction and will not hesitate to call on them again for future projects.

I highly recommend MF Construction and Design. The service and quality far exceeded my expectations. We were not looking forward to working with contractors again given bad experiences with prior contractors. Mike and team from MF Construction went above and beyond to make this a great experience for us. They are very responsive, always available and provided excellent service. The quality of work is amazing and the detail impeccable. I love how my home turned out and would definitely use MF Construction again for future work.

The man was very pleasant and knowledgeable.  He hasn't given me a quote, initial meeting was for plans. He answered all my questions, and gave me good suggestions.  And he wasn't pushy at all and very pleasant.  only improvement giving the meeting and first one I frankly don't know, he could of brought doughnuts.

SES builders, a truly team of skilled professionals people, recently finished our kitchen remodeling. The involved people at the team were thoughtful and very knowledgeable. Eli, our project manager, optimistically and professionally managed each and every task of the work. We are very pleased with his originality and the worth of their work including the entire team which started with the company designer. Ignoring of how long the work took each day, Eli and his team worked until we were totally pleased. We look forward to starting our next remodeling project with them (which will be our master bathroom remodeling). SES builders earned our highest recommendation!

Horrible Contractor. We were told framing would take six weeks and after twelve the crew left for another project with the framing far from finished. We were promised the framing would be 100% when they left but it was about 80% with the quality of the framing being poor and they left many significant errors. Plumb, Level and Square are concepts escaping this contractor. Nine out of seventeen doors are framed the wrong size. A large window on the front of the house was framed 1'-6" narrow (this will be significant to correct as this is the most difficult wall in the house to reframe and will require shoring the roof to fix). There is a large sag in the living room ceiling due to the project being framed out of sequence. The main exposed beam in the vaulted entry ceiling is twisted significantly. There were missing studs, beams, posts and structural hardware throughout the house. The main support beam for the front porch is installed 6" low with the roof framed it will be a huge expensive effort to correct. Bearing and shear walls are not framed as shown on the structural plans. This is just some of the errors and problems, the list is extensive. The Architect and Structural Engineer did a good job on the plans, are local to the project and are very responsive yet Geoff Delebar blames his poor performance and lack of quality on the plans. Geoff was part of the planning meetings with the Architect prior to construction and should have had a good understanding of the project, he assured us he was an expert and the construction would go smoothly. When these issues were discussed we were offered two carpenters for two unpaid Saturdays (so it would not impact his other projects) at no cost but I would have to pay for the materials to fix their errors. The quality was so poor we did not accept this offer as I am certian we would need to correct the work anyway (especially with workers who are doing it on a Saturday unpaid). They installed three beams in the wrong locations and the rework for this was terrible so there is president for bad repair work. We have removed Delabar Construction from the project and will use other contractors to finish the project.
