The work went great. We were looking for a contractor that performed all or a majority of the work, and Sean has a core crew that performed a majority of the work. As the construction phases proceed you always notice something you want to change or modify and Sean was open to this. We made some changes that were extensive and fair to pay additional monies for. Many minor adjustments or modifications Sean just took care of. Towards the end, we wanted to add a 700sf concrete patio with a 600sf patio cover. The work also included water, sewer, electrical and gas stub outs for a future BBQ island. We agreed on a price and Sean and his crew got it done while a sub was working in the house. Overall with all the phases of work and City inspections,Sean and his crew managed their time and made progress we were happy with. We would recommend O'Gilvy construction to anybody.

My husband and I recently got married and are expecting a
little one soon. We purchased a new home in Orange and it was
what you could call a fixer upper. The home was
built in 1966 and was all original. We didn't have much money to do a
remodel but the house was unlivable for us.We called out about 10 contractors
using the help of angie's list and friends. The bids came in to
$100,000-40,000. We luckily stumbled upon RSR Construction when we were
looking for an affordable architect/ designer to draw up the plans to get
better bids. The designer (Rafael) was very reasonable and asked to let his
family construction business put in a bid. Not only where they the lowest
bid (out of the 5 received) but they had the shortest project time and
were also the most responsive, flexible, and seemingly trustworthy people we
interviewed. They came in around $36,000. I checked all their
references to ensure it was not too good to be true and all their
references said wonderful things about them and their work. My husband and
I both have full time jobs which meant there where many times we contacted
Rafael late at night and on the weekends. He always made us feel like we
were not a bother even though I?m sure we were. My husband and I are not
very knowledgeable in the construction area and they were honest and
helpful about everything. They even taught us in the process. They were so
amazing they even worked on Saturdays, Sundays and late into the night so
they would be done on time. We changed so many details and they were so
accommodating to our needs. They even let us purchase the materials and
gave us money back if we were able to get something on our own cheaper.
My husband and I shopped around to get the flooring and whatever we could
at a savings and this really helped the budget. The workers are all one family
and they were there every day. The home went from the ugliest in the
neighborhood to the best looking. Our neighbors are truly amazed! The best
part is that every single thing about the house is how my husband and I
wanted it. We felt like they really cared and wanted us to be happy no
matter how much more work it would be for them. There were two change
orders involved during the process and having every line of work itemized
really was helpful for us. They cleaned up so well the home was cleaner than
before they started the project. RSR Construction was so flexible and kind
to work with. They did everything high quality and to the detail.
Once we have the money we will be calling them out to redo the
kitchen and bathrooms. It really was the best experience and my husband
and I could not be any more excited to show off our beautiful new home.

In August 2012, one of two tenants decided to move out (he purchased a house). He had been living in one of the units for 10+ years with no issues. He had a large dog. The tenant was a little less than perfect when it comes to keeping the unit clean. When he moved out, I decided it was the perfect time to "refresh" both units. Even though one of the units was still occupied, I notified the tenant and let him know of the "remodeling" that was about to occur. The tenant made a few suggestions of his own that he would like to see (remove sliding door and replace with a wall, fix side yard gates, showed us a few windows that weren't working well and/or were missing screens, etc).
I got quotes from various companies. I also contemplated being my own "general contractor".
One of the quotes that I received was from Edan & Aviran (Do It Right Remodeling). They had replaced the roof on this duplex 2 years earlier. Their quote was fair and in most cases lower than others. What really sold me on them was the detailed quote as well as their understanding of what I had in mind. They were able to add things and adjust things in order to make the remodeling
    project make sense.
When I reviewed what the project would cost if I had to manage it myself, I realized that it would simply be more cost effective to hire them to do it. Also, less headaches for me.
They started the project on time and ended on time. They explained to me every step of the way what was going to happen and why. They worked well with my property manager as well as my tenant. We had to move the tenant out for 3 days during part of the project. The coordination with the tenant worked perfectly.
Not every project is perfect and neither was this. The main difference here was that Edan and Aviran really jumped on an issues that occurred. At one point, the city inspector asked for additional work to be completed. Also, after removing the A/C unit from the 2nd floor patio area, we discovered that a much larger portion of the patio flooring should be replaced. The cost adjustments were within our contingency plan and the project was still completed on time.
Since that project completed, Edan & Aviran (Do It Right Remodeling) have been my go to general contractor on all of my rental units as well as my home, no matter how big or small the project is (fixing a single window leak to replacing all windows in our rental unit).
I can't say enough good things about their prices, honesty, professionalism and quality of work. The value they add to a project is incredible.

We had a great experience with D.C. Construction. Dennis was very involved in the project, was almost always there when he said he would be (or let us know if he was not going to be there for some reason), and kept the project moving along quickly. At the start of the project, he had us meet with the cabinet company that was going to build our cabinets to help us design the layout. He provided us with references and arranged for us to visit one of his completed projects. We completely demo'd the kitchen, ripped out the dropped ceiling, installed new custom cabinets and appliances and refinished the hardwood floors. We also did custom cabinets in our front hallway and office, as well as in our family room (which included removing the brick face of the fireplace and installing tile with a new mantle). So there were multiple projects going on around the house at the same time, and Dennis ensured that all of the sub-contractors he brought in to do the work (cabinets, floors, tiling) were top notch. Whenever we had changes to the original plan, Dennis was always amenable to talking them through with us and making the changes. The entire project took about 13 weeks, and we were back in our completed kitchen a little less than 9 weeks after the day the demolition started. We heard a lot of horror stories about bad contractors from friends that have had major remodeling done, but we were very pleased with Dennis. For most of the project we were the only job he was doing, which meant he was very focused on getting things done. We are very pleased with the results, and would highly recommend Dennis.

They were amazingly good.  They paid attention to detail.  I would highly recommend them and have already recommended them to a lot of people.  He gave me a reasonable and thorough estimate.  They were not the lowest and neither the highest.  They perform quality work.  They are craftsman and know what they are doing with the restoration.  The owner would come every day to check on them while they were working.  They showed up on time for the job.  I would use them again in the future.

My experience started with a postive referral from a friend.  Paul had done some custom home work for them in Corona Del Mar, so wasnt sure my "small" job would be given much thought.  I couldn't have been more wrong. Paul treated me like I was one of his big customers.  He showed up on time every day and oversaw the work being done to perfection.  His bid was clear and he was happy to explain the details behind all the numbers so I could feel confident I was getting a fair price.
    The finished product is GREAT!
    Highly reccomended!!

Fabulous! We have used Don for over ten years and this is the last project on the whole house remodel. We would never use another contractor for any job, large or small.
