Insulation reviews in Orange County

    Horizon Construction & Remodeling Inc
Horizon Construction & Remodeling in 2018 lied about getting City inspections done, damaged my home and covered up the damage, and left dangerous conditions throughout my home, leaving myself and my family at risk. For example, just some of the things Inspectors found: sharp roof shingles unattached on my roof which could have fallen and cut us; they left exposed electrical wiring in the attic = potential fire danger; extremely hot pipes not insulated, which could have burnt us, and more. The City is making me remove construction Horizon did because they lied about getting approval. DO NOT HIRE THEM. They are a dangerous company. They also gave a portion of the remodel to another general contractor (not as a subcontractor) without my approval. Horizon Construction (Mark Besnos) did not supervise this other contractor, whos license has been suspended and is being prosecuted by the California Attorney Generals Office. All of this can be confirmed. This was a big project and Horizon Construction & Remodeling took my money and have left my entire family devastated by the amount of damage they did to our home.

    Everguard Home Insulation Inc.
I called them on 8/3/17. and they sent an email with prices same day. They said someone would call me to come out to my home to provide an estimate. Note they failed to provide an appointment. They called on 8/4/17 late afternoon around 4 pm to stop by to provide an estimate for the work, but I wasn't home. I called and left a message to thank them. Now it's 8/17/17, and they haven't called back since 8/4/17. They had offered to come out to do the work at the time of the estimate, but I wanted a separate visit for the estimate. I've experienced that a contractor will recommend work according to the supplies available on the truck. Maybe they are resisting a separate trip for the estimate. In any event, it was wasted time.

    Everguard Home Insulation Inc.

Not having any reference to go by for attic insulation, I did my own research via Angies List (a FANTASTIC website in itself!).  Reading some of the reviews from various companies, EVERGUARD stood out like a beacon!

This companys first, middle, and last asset is Customer Service - by far!  It started with a phone call where Cynthia was most gracious in answering all of my questions.  The fact that there is a Southern California Gas Company rebate, and a Federal Tax Credit, mentioned during the estimated quote, was the epitome in choosing this company to handle my needs.  (It also states this information on their website as well.)

EVERGUARD was so gracious, that my appointment was scheduled within a week, due to the fact that I was having an operation eight days later.  This company was so caring, that the employees didnt want my house "as hot as a furnace", while I am recuperating from surgery.

Steven and Anthony arrived on time and were ready to start work right away.  As I have no driveway, but an alleyway instead, the truck parked perpendicular to my opened garage door.  The hose went through the Master Bedroom to the hallway, where the attic access was, which was all of 15 feet.  Both Steven and Anthony answered all of my questions with graciousness.  Steven assessed the square footage in the attic and then I signed the contract.  I chose the Cellulose R-38 Rating, the square footage was 1,246 and the quote was $1,619.

After all of the insulation was blown in, Steven had told me that in some places, my attic was down to the bare wood.  Most of what insulation I did have was only an inch deep.  (No wonder my antiquated A/C unit had to work so hard during the summer months!)  It took Steven and Anthony about two hours to complete the project including clean-up.  Those two gentlemen were the personification of what the company represents!  I was told by them, that Anthony had cut his hair, and that Steven had shaved his beard off, due to the upcoming warmer summer months.  (I was so honored, being the first customer to see their improved appearances!)

EVERGUARDs standard not only sets-the-bar, it IS the bar!  There is NO reason to search ANY further than THIS Company, to fulfill your needs for insulation!

    MOST sincerely,

    Thea Errickson

    My Handyman Randy
Start to finish everything went great. Rob's an A+: demo, electrical, recessed lighting, flush mount mirror, toilet relocation, framing, tub...we took it to the studs and now have anew bathroom that looks and functions great. A few people have left negative feedback based on not receiving call backs. My experience has been fantastic. Rob's a busy guy in high demand because he does great work. When he is on your job, he does not step away to take calls, he sticks to the job at hand. This is what you want from your contractor. Conversely, he always returns my calls/emails same day. Thanks for everything Rob!

    Weatherline Reroofing & Repairs Inc
Weatherline Installed my house and patio roof as planned and on schedule. We had much needed new insulation blown into our attic as well. Dominic and his project manager attended to any minor issues we had quickly and courteously. We are very happy with our new roof and the customer service we received. We would happily and confidently recommend Weatherline Reroofing to our family and friends.

Steve and Dina were both very responsive and professional.  The installers arrived exactly on time and were equally professional in their service.  All in all a very good experience with Everguard.

    Horizon Construction & Remodeling Inc
We chose Horizon Construction because of Mark's vision for our bathrooms in our initial consultation.  Our bathrooms are rather small, and we had a few ideas of what we wanted before Mark came over, but he quickly suggested what would and wouldn't work based on his extensive experience and design knowledge.  Mark is very good at being straightforward with you on what needs to be done for the space you have to renovate.  Some might consider his straightforwardness slightly abrupt, but don't let that put you off - he's very good at what he does and has a passion for his work and the details, and he knows the work his crew does is a reflection of himself and his company (as he should).
We mainly interacted with Enna, Horizon's business manager and design consultant, from that point forward, though Mark did visit the project regularly.  He also made himself available at any time should you want to go over any details with him.  Enna's responsiveness and regular communication is a big reason we are as happy as we are with how the project turned out.  Not many contracting companies have someone like Enna to be your customer service rep., design consultant, project coordinator, complaint department, etc.  Enna is very responsive, competent, nice, and professional, and made the 2+ months of having workers in our home a tolerable (and almost pleasant :-) ) experience.
Day one, Enna and Mark met us at the tile store to sign the contracts and help us pick out flooring, countertops, and glass borders, which was incredibly helpful.  Work began quickly afterwards, and the crew was at our house just about every week day for around 2 months. Each crew member was very nice, respectful, hard working, and we trusted them implicitly to work and lock up after themselves while we were at work.  Coming home from work each day was an exciting event; seeing progress was a treat and they always cleaned up after themselves each day.
Mark visited the site regularly and corrected any issues and small details he found, and listened to any concerns we had.  We never felt we were being given the runaround or that our ideas and concerns were insignificant.  For example they installed a 4" vanity backsplash which didn't connect well to a 6" wood trim piece.  We pointed it out and they tore out the marble backsplash and redid it to 6".
Now, I'm not saying there weren't frustrations.  Some language barriers and miscommunication between ourselves, management, and the crew reared its head from time to time, but whenever issues arose they were always fixed to our satisfaction and never impacted the end product.  I don't believe you can have a multi-month long project without these issues arising, and I chalk them up as normal, and don't mark them down for this.
One miscommunication example was that we asked them to put insulation in the shower plumbing wall which bordered the bedroom for noise reduction.  They forgot to do this during the rough plumbing and said if we still wanted it done, they would open up the drywall in the bedroom side, then patch and paint the bedroom wall, which they did end up doing.  This was a minor issue, and we would have been fine if they didn't want to do the work, but they went out of their way to make us happy.
Other minor issues stemmed from the crew not looking at the fixtures we purchased before finishing the rough plumbing in the first bathroom. Their expectation was that we would point out anything other than standard fixtures (we had a bar with handheld shower head; they assumed fixed shower head).  Our expectation was that they would check with us before commencing rough plumbing (or at least take a look at the fixtures).  The result ended up not being a big issue - a slightly less than ideal placement for the water outlet valve.  However, we learned a valuable lesson and made sure to go over rough plumbing for the master bath with them beforehand.
In the end, both baths turned out beautiful, more so than I imagined.  Overall, we had a very positive experience and highly recommend Horizon.
    A few tips:
Get your fixtures early; unless you're ordering from a big box store, some items take a few weeks to get in.
Make sure your expectations and visions are communicated.  Enna writes up a detailed scope of work, make sure this is correct, though some items are difficult to envision when you initially go over the contract.
Make sure to meet with Mark and show him your fixtures and expected placements before the crew starts rough plumbing.  It will be much more difficult to change things once this has started.

    South County Drywall
There were a couple minor problems. They left a few shelves that they took down and did not put back up before they left. They also left some screws behind from a ceiling fan they installed. Overall, we were really pleased with the service. They came exactly on time. They rang the door bell promptly at 8:00 a.m. like they said they would.

Multi-family 4-plex apartment building.  Attic Guys did not mention permit and not sure one is required.  However, with a permit I might have received a rebate from Gas Co.
