    Scott Home Repair
Scott was great. Professional, attention to detail, high quality work.  I would highly recommend him to anyone who wants professional quality work at a reasonable price from an honest contractor.

It went very well.  I explained what that I wanted, and he made several suggestions that I NEVER would have thought of.  His men came every day, and he was there a lot of the time, too.  We are very pleased with how it turned out.

    WEST COAST SASH & DOOR
From the first contact I had with West Coast Sash and Door, they were responsive and interested in how to help me with my project.  I located them on Angie's list and there was a lower than expected review and yet when talking with WCSD owner Arlene about it was clear to me that there are two sides to every story, and that she is a sincere, honest business woman.  She is a wonderful, kind woman that is very interested in her customers, and in providing overall satisfaction with any project.  Her staff have worked for her for a long time (good sign) and are very reliable.   Early on I was given a lot of very useful information about what to consider.  A mid range price was in my budget and the best windows for the money (Millguard) were recommended and I love them.  There were many products to consider.
The time in the showroom picking out the final windows, doors and hardware was time consuming and Felicia was extremely patient with me as I changed my mind more than once and she took time to land on the specific combinations I wanted.  It was worth the time and I am so very pleased with how it all looks.  She is experienced and offered facts that I could consider to make my own choice.  No pressure.   She is a great listener (which I consider a tremendous business skill) and she was supportive in making sure I had what I wanted at a reasonable price.  They are not the least expensive outfit to work with, and yet they are willing to offer pricing flexibility when it is possible.  Felicia was also clear when it was not possible, again an honest review of choices for me to consider.  This was a significant plus for me and a reason to go back!  Doing business with WCSD was well worth the money I paid.  The quality and experience WCSD brings to the table is worth it.   They are full service and this is so valuable.
Rick and the installation crew are amazing and I have never had doors that work so well, are so balanced, and stay put solidly.  They oepn and close beautifully and it is fun to sometimes just open and close them to marvel at the quality workmanship.  The install was quick, efficient, and excellent quality.  The crew were courteous and clean.  I could not be happier with their professional manner.  Everything that was promised with the install was done and on time.
I can recommend West Coast Sash and Door without reservation.  The doors and windows have made an extraordinary difference in the look, feel and temperature of this house, which had old single pane windows originally.   From beginning to end this replacement project was a pleasure for me.  That says a lot for them!

They were very professional and responsive during the sales process, and made all kinds of promises related to how they'd perform the work and the kinds of things they'd do to ensure a quality result.  I was very impressed at first.  They marketed themselves as a design-build contractor but as it turned out they only recommended an architect who made major mistakes in the drawings (e.g., designed for a slab foundation - ours was raised).  The construction process was just okay.  We came home one day to find they'd put a door where it was easy to put a door, instead of putting it where the drawings said to put it, and then they were reluctant to make it right.  They also didn't install the shower to plans and, stupidly, we allowed them to go with an alternative solution that has only caused problems ever since.  After the work was done and we started living in the room, we discovered more issues with the quality of construction (e.g., no nailing plates for bathroom fixtures; cracks in the tile appeared immediately) and were overall very disappointed with the result.

    Scott Home Repair
I have done  and supervised many renovations.  Due to my age and physical limitations, it is necessary for me to hire out the work.  The initial estimate and job interview was thorough, with a focus on expectations and job perameters made clear.
As we got into the setup and actual work, I found Scott inflexible and headstrong.  He made everything difficult, working slowly,  and adding steps that were unproductive and time consuming, in the name of "doing it right" his way.
He was, without real cause, extremely disrespectful towards his assistant, who was working to please and do everything as told.
The two house windows were reinstalled,  hinged incorrectly so as to allow for easy  removal from the outside  with only a screwdriver.  The cellar door had been custom ordered to site specifications.  He was insistent and refused to follow the simple painting and installation instructions, resulting in unnecessary removal of building siding (which he wouldn't replace or fix) and a bad paint job which rippled, and came loose where the doors overlapped.  The doors were not installed properly and leak during the rain.  When confronted with these questions, he would have an excuse for why it was that way, and was unwilling to accept any responsibility for these issues.
Although I have a lot of work to do on this house and property renovation, I asked him to stop at this point.
Not only was the experience unpleasant, it was unnecessarily costly.  I also noticed that Scott rebutted my first evaluation sent to you.  His review of his performance shows me again his lack of understanding of how he really works for/with someone else.

    American Vision Windows
Met Co. at home show in 1000 Oaks, had seen ads . Gonzo was the man, he came the next week also had 2 others from the show come and bid job. Co came and started demo. One man completed one BR window as sample, we reviewed the work, oked itaas it was exactly what we wanted. The rest of the crew cut the old windows out, cut the walls down for the new doors, routed the electrical wiring above the windows and put the windows in. Each evening the house was clean in and out. Finished the job Friday pm on time and I made a Tri Tip lunch for all. We had many jobs like New AC, electrical, fence gates, plumbing, painting etc in 5months and the Am. Vision job went the smoothest, on time with no problems. Double pane windows and doors, very happy.

Went very smoothly.  He suggested moving the wall, because it didn't occur to me that it could be done that way.  Came out nice and symmetrical.
