    Anchor Ridge Construction
Scott was very punctual everyday. He was very informative and help me through the process. He and his son did an amazing job and even match the paint spot on. My loft conversion looks like the bedroom was always there. I am very happy with the work. And I would recommend him to my friends any day.

    Interior Professional Heating and Air
Great. We live aboard Camp Pendleton in a housing area w/no A/C. We have a son w/Special needs who requires A/C and purchased a central A/C unit and had it installed by Antonio 9 yrs ago (when he worked for another company), when we moved into our house. He has since provided maintenance/service to our A/C various times over the 9 yr period, to include now, as the owner of Interior Professional Heating and Air. Because it is our own, personal unit, we are required to maintain/service it ourselves. Antonio is extremely polite, professional, knowledgeable, and fair. I highly recommend him.

    Beach City Builders Inc
My letter of thanks says it all -- 1 Sept 2016 Beach City Builders Attn: Jay and Chris CC: To Whom it May Concern Dear Jay and Chris, Yesterday we received the final inspection and approval for our room addition. Thank You so very much for the good work and most importantly your professionalism. It seems hard to believe that it was just 3.5 months ago that we began construction. The addition of a downstairs bedroom and fully ada compliant bathroom will make our home much more livable. While adding 237 square feet to our house might have been a small project to you, it will make a big impact upon our lives. Given that it was a small project, I was overwhelmed by your attention to detail and steady progress on the project. Never once did I feel like this was an afterthought or fill-in job for you or your workers. In fact, I was speaking to Mike one day and mentioned that this must be a small job but that I was appreciative of the high quality work on such a small addition. His reply was both personal and professional, We do lots of job -- some smaller and some bigger than this -- but every job deserves my full attention. This is your home. And who knows, often someone satisfied with a a small job will refer a huge job to us later. That attitude that the workers were at or inside our home was the prevailing demeanor of everyone we met from Beach City Builders. Given the fact that the same workers showed up day after day was a huge asset. Both my wife and I work so we would leave the house full of your workers and our kids. I felt safe doing so every morning as I headed to work. In fact, your workers were very helpful when we had a dryer fire in the garage. They helped my son Kristopher clean up the mess from the fire department and get our home back in order before returning to their work. That human touch and sense that your workers are trustworthy is the greatest asset of your company. I was also impressed with the honesty and straightforward nature of Beach City Builders when we ran into something unexpected tying the addition into the house.. Rather than try to work around the problem and give us a cheap workaround, Jay and I discussed the right way to solve the water routing problem, its approximate cost and how much of it I would pay for and how much Beach City Builders would pay for. In that whole process, I never felt talked down to or demeaned. Rather Jay took time to explain the building code, the problem and the suggested solution. Afterwards both Jay and I agreed that this common courtesy and respect were once a natural part of business but has not been lost. Beach City Builders is an honest and professional company in an industry marred by charlatans and fly by night con artists. When we originally began looking for contractors to build this addition, I interviewed seven companies before I could narrow it down to three from which to elicit proposals. Two were not qualified and two were complete scam artists who gave me a creepy feeling in my stomach. Of the three bids from reputable companies, we received one bid that was almost 40% higher than the other two with the explanation that he need to make extra profit on small jobs because they always went badly. (He was out.) Of the two remaining companies, Beach City Builders price was slightly more, about 5% higher, than the other company but my wife and I both felt the proposal from Chris was the best one for us. The deciding factor was Chris decision to bring Jay over to confirm a couple of items, drainage, sewer line and power requirements that we still under question. A true professional knows when to call in someone else to confirm and consult on their ideas. This attitude of lets do it right instead of cheap & fast continued throughout the building process. Jays continual watching of the project kept things moving smoothly and consistently throughout the entire three months. Our morning updates were usually followed by questions or confirmations via text message. He spent lots of time making certain the details were right and talking out those details with my wife in a professional manner. Jays many years of experience in the building field give him an insight into how both the big picture and the details should come together to being the homeowners dream into reality. What started as business only has become a friendship. Our property was kept clean and free of debris throughout the entire build. Knowing that we had three kids and 2 cats in the backyard at night and over the weekends, the workers were careful about picking up tools, scraps and anything hazardous before leaving. Our experience with Beach City Builders was a positive one. At the end of the project, I felt like I received good quality workmanship, an honest price and professional respect. If anyone I know needs remodeling, an addition or new construction, I would feel 100% confident in recommending Beach City Builders as their number one and only choice. Please feel free to have potential clients contact me for more information or a personal recommendation.

Ritz Design Build Budge It Home Remodeling INC

Purchased a home in Oceanside, and was looking to do a major (flooring throughout, complete kitchen redesign, bathrooms, electrical, etc.) remodel, so I started talking to various contractors to get initial estimates.  There was a house near my mom's place that had a Ritz sign out front, so I called the number to see what they could do.  The receptionist was very nice and attentive, and after talking to her about what I was looking for, she scheduled an estimate at the house.  When he ( I believe his name was Ed) showed up,  he was on time and listened attentively as we walked through the house and I described what I was looking for.  As I wrapped up my pitch, and asked what his initial thoughts were, I was completely surprised when his entire demeanor changed and he basically began talking down to me like I wasn't good enough for his company!  His message was that Ritz was more of a "high end" remodeler, and I'm quoting verbatim here, "needed another $200k remodel like they needed a hole in the head."  I let him ramble on for a few more minutes, and then told him it didn't sound like we were a good fit for each other.

Not sure if he needed to take more of his medication, but was really shocked at how quickly the whole tone of the conversation went south.  After seeing a Ritz project in a very similar neighborhood and I'm sure with a similar scope, I can't believe this guy is representative of his company.  Not sure how many other prospective customers he has insulted and chased off (have seen at least one here on Angie's List), but my advice to Ritz Design-Build is to put Ed out to pasture.  He is doing your company no favors!

Ritz Design Build Budge It Home Remodeling INC
Our experience with Ritz was one of the most professionally satisfying experiences we've ever had.  After designing and building no less than four homes as we traversed the country, first in the Navy and then in civilian life, we like to think we learned something about good design, permitting and construction practices.  The professionals at Ritz have, in our mind, re-defined the standard of excellence for us.
Many know, at least intuitively if not by experience, that the most important part of any construction project is the foundation.  If it isn't plumb and square then nothing else that follows will be either.  Sure, a good framing crew can cover up foundation mistakes, but that wasn't the case here.  The foundation was perfect (I had it independently checked).  And the framing crew?  Absolutely the very best I've ever had the pleasure of working on any of my aforementioned four homes.  I can say the same for the electrician, mason, painter and on and on.  I learned long ago you can tell a lot about a company and in this case a construction team by how clean they keep the construction 'zone' during the day and how they leave it at the end of the day.  Not only is it a sign of pride they have in their work, but it is an indicator of how the workers think about their own safety and that of the homeowner.  On our last home project, I had to 'get after' the company owner several times for the project not meeting my safety and cleanliness standards.  For our Ritz project, I never had to make that call.
As I told the owner of Ritz, his subcontractors, many of whom have been with him for several years (which is almost unheard of in this business) are his competitive advantage over all the other build/design firms in SD.  Truth be told, we don't refer to the team that worked on our project as subcontractors; to us they were no less than expert craftsmen.
Did the project go perfectly, without flaws?  Of course not.  I've never had a home build go perfectly, but this one was closer than all the others. The owner was active, engaged and committed to making it right.  One of the mistakes was, admittedly ours.  In trying to save some money we insisted on a cheaper shower product installation only to have to agree late in the project we were wrong.  He had every right to charge us for not only the demolition of the old plastic shower, but then to 'stick it to us' for the new tile installation, especially since our 'change order' delayed the overall project schedule.  He surprised us with his generosity and desire to make sure we were satisfied.
We are big fans of Ritz and the people behind the logo.  We've told the team at Ritz to use us as references.  We can provide no better recommendation than that.

The mold was small but it definitely had to be taken care of so they took care of it. Based on what I had looked up online with how much to expect for a situation like that, I would grade their pricing as an 'A'. We would definitely use them again in the future if we have to, hopefully never for the same reason, but if we ever have a major construction because they do that too.

    TIM BOTSFORD CONSTRUCTION
TIM CAME OVER IMMEDIATELY, WAS WORKING IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD, AND LIKE A DETECTIVE, STARTED WORKING FROM SCRATCH, EXAMINING MY CIRCUIT BOX CAREFULLY, FINDING A WORN OUT ONE MISSED BY ALL OTHERS, AND ONE NOT LABELED HE ASKED ME ABOUT, (THE ONLY ONE AGAIN TO DO SO), AND I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THE CIRCUIT WAS FOR.

TIM TOOK HOURS TO DO ALL THIS. HE WENT TO THE MICROWAVE TO CHECK THE SOCKET, CIRCUIT WHERE IT WAS PLUGGED IN, THEN, KNOWING HOW THESE HOUSES ARE BUILT, WITH THESE PLUGS IN THE CUPBOARD ABOVE, HE CHECKED THE OTHER SIDE OF THIS CUPBOARD, WHERE I KNEW THERE WAS ANOTHER SOCKET THOUGH ALL PREVIOUS ELECTRICIANS, THE MICROWAVE REPAIR MAN, JUST IGNORED THESE OTHER PLUGS.

SURE ENOUGH, TIM LAUGHED AND SAID THIS OTHER SOCKET WAS THE SEPARATE CIRCUIT, THE UNMARKED ONE IN MY CIRCUIT BOX, THAT WAS SPECIFICALLY FOR THE MICROWAVE, AND PLUGGED IT IN THE CORRECT SOCKET, SAVING ME OVER $300.00 THE OTHERS WANTED TO CHARGE ME TO PUT THIS CIRCUIT IN AGAIN! I WOULD HAVE PAID AT THE LEAST, OVER $300.00 TO HAVE A REDUNDANT, UNNECESSARY, CIRCUIT FOR THIS MICROWAVE TO BE INSTALLED, THAT I ALREADY HAD, THOUGH THIS CIRCUIT, VISIBLE IN MY ELECTRICAL BOX, WAS JUST NOT LABELED. AND I WOULD HAVE HAD A WORN OUT CIRCUIT PART LEFT IN, NOTED AND REPLACED THE SAME DAY, BY TIM, NOT BY THE OTHERS. AND VERY WELL MAY HAVE SIGNED UP TO HAVE NEW HEATING INSTALLED WITH A HUGE HEATING/ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR, (WHICH TIM ALSO OBVIOUSLY DOES WITH GREAT CONSCIENTIOUS SKILL), THAT I DID NOT NEED, HE TOLD ME MY HEAT WAS BROKEN AS HAD A HANDYMAN, THE SUPPOSED GENERAL CONTRACTOR INSPECTOR. i WOULD HAVE SPENT FROM $800.00-$3 K PER THE HUGE ELECTRICAL, HEATING, ELECTRICIAN, TO HAVE EVERY SOCKET IN MY HOUSE REPLACED, (EVEN ALL THE NEW ONES), THE UNNEEDED CIRCUIT INSTALLED, (ALREADY HAD IT), NOT EVEN COUN TING THE THOUSANDS TO HAVE NEW HEAT INSTALLLED, SAVED FROM BY TIME BOTSFORD.

AFTER REPLACING MY HOME, PATIO ROOF, REDESINGING THE SLOPE OF, INSTALLING A HUGE SKYLIGHT, FOR THE LOWEST BID PRICE, IN LESS THAN THE 2 WEEK DEADLINE, NEATLY, CONSIDERATELY, WITH TIM, (UNLIKE MOST GENERAL CONTRACTORS), HERE DAILY WORKING WITH HIS CREW IN AUGUST HEAT, I CALLED TIM IN A PANIC WANTING TO KNOW IF HE KNEW AN ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR I COULD USE FOR THIS ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. TO WHICH, AS WRITTEN BEFORE, HE LAUGHED, SAID HE DID THIS KIND OF WORK, AND CAN OVER IMMEDIATELY, FIXING ALL THAT THE PREVIOUS ELECTRICIANS MISSED.

AFTER HE FOUND, REPAIRED, MY CIRCUIT BLOWING, MICROWAVE HAZARD, CAUSED BY AN UNQUALIFIED, LYING, and quot;HANDYMANand quot;, REFERRED TO ME BY THE INSPECTOR NO LESS WHO ALSO MISSED SO MUCH, TIM WAS and quot;INTRIGUEDand quot; BY MY SUPPOSEDLY and quot;BROKEN HEATERand quot;, (ADVISED TO HAVE REPLACED FOR 3 k BY HUGE ELECTRICAL/HEATING CONTRACTOR, TIM IS AS WELL OF COURSE).

SO TIM WENT THROUGH MY and quot;MICROWAVEand quot; CIRCUIT BLOWING PROBLEM, THE MICROWAVE CIRCUIT ALREADY INSTALLED, WITH THE DANGEROUS HANDYMAN NOT PLUGGING INTO THE RIGHT SOCKET, MAKING IT VERY HAZARDOUS FROM THE INITIAL INSTALLATION! ALL MISSED BY THE 3 PREVIOUS ELECTRICIANS, OTHERS. TELLING ME TO SPEND THOUSANDS WITH THEM, URGING ME TO SIGN THEIR CONTRACTS FOR THIS.

TIM THEN WENT THRU, LIKE THE DETECTIVE HE IS, MY WHOLE HOUSE, TO INVESTIGATE MY SUPPOSEDLY and quot;BROKENand quot; CEILING, RADIENT HEAT. THIS WAS ALSO NECESSARY AS I NEEDED TO HAVE MORE LIGHHTING INSTALLED, POT LIGHTS I HOPED, TIM DID TOO, (ONE ELCTRICIAN SAID HE WOULD JUST INSTALL, NO OTHER QUESTIONS ASKED), AND KNEW, INFORMED ME, THAT INSTALLING POT LIGHTS COULD WELL BREAK THE WORKING HEAT IN BEDROOMS, IN CEILING, AND IN THE LIVING ROOM IF THE HEAT WAS NOT BROKEN AS I WAS TOLD BY MANY LICENSED PROFESSIONALS. ONLY TIM EVEN BOTHERED TO QUESTION IF MY HEAT WAS REALLY BROKEN, AND BEGAN HIS TESTING, INSPECTIONS THROUGHOUT MY HOUSE TO DETERMINE, (NOBODY ELSE HAD).

AFTER AT LEAST 4 HOURS, ON MOMENT'S NOTICE NO LESS, OF TIM'S FIXING MY MICROWAVE PROBLEM, A WORN OUT CIRCUIT REPLACED, DETECTED, THEN HIS INSPECTION, TESTING, OF MY HEATING SYSTEM, (and quot;BROKENand quot;PER ALL OTHERS, JUST REPACE FOR 3 K), HE FOUND AGAIN, RIDICULOUS INCOMPETENTCY BY THESE OTHERS.

TIM SHOWED ME, (AS HE DOES EVERYTHING, LIKE A GREAT TEACHER, EXPLAINING ALL IN DETAIL, LAYMAN'S TERMS FOR ALL REPAIRS, CONSTRUCTION), HOW ACTTUALLY MY HEATING WIRES WERE JUST TIED OFF IN THE BOX!!! RIGHT THERE IN THE THERMOSTAT BOX, AS ALL THE ELECTRICIANS SAW! AS TIME KNEW DUE TO HIS VAST EXPERIENCE, THAT MANY PEOPLE HERE TURN OFF THEIR RADIENT HEAT TO SAVE ON HIGH ELECTRIC BILLS, WHICH WAS THE CASE HERE WITH THE WIRING JUST BLOCKED OFF!
HE REWIRED THESE AND VOILA, THE HEAT WAS WORKING AFTER OVER A YEAR OF MY BEING HERE THINKING IT WAS and quot;BROKENand quot; AS SO MANY HAD TOLD ME, MOST INCORRECTLY, EVEN BY OTHER SUPPOSED HEATING/ELECTRICAL EXPERTS, (PERHAPS EVEN ON ANGIE'S LIST? I WILL CHECK).

AMAZED AT TIM'S TALENT, ABILITY, I OF COURSE SIGNED UP FOR HIM TO PUT IN ADDITIONAL NEEDED LIGHTING, DUE TO HIS FINDINGS, UNABLE TO HAVE THE POT LIGHT I WANTED, OR WOULD HAVE RUINED THE HEAT! HE INSTALLED MANY SETS OF TRACK LIGHTS AT THE TOP OF WALLS, GIVING A DRAMACTIC, GREAT APPEARING, SO USEFUL EFFECT, WITH THE DIMMERS ALL. AND UPON HIS ANALYISIS OF MY ELECTRICAL OVERLOAD IN THIS OLDER HOUSE, (AS MOST ARE HERE WITH THE ADVENT OF COMPUTERS, SO MUCH MORE ELECTRICAL DEMAND), HE RECOMMENDED INSTALLING A SEPERATE CIRCUIT FOR MY AIR CONDITIONER, TOO, AND WAS INSTALLED AS WELL. THIS ALL IN 2 DAYS, ONE TO REPAIR THE MICROWAVE, INVESTIGATE, REPAIR, HEATER, THE ENXT TO INSTALL THE LIGHTING, AND EXTRA CIRCUIT. AGAIN, WITH TIM'S LOVE OF A CHALLENGE, HE DID MOST OF THE WORK WITH ONE HELPER, HAVING TO MAKE AND PATCH UP HOLES IN WALLS, WORK IN ATTIC, BEASTLEY IN FACT, BUT DONE TO PERFECTION!

OBVIOUSLY TIM SAVED ME THOUSANDS, AND SAVED ME, MY HOUSE, FROM VERY SERIOUS ELECTRICAL HAZARDS CAUSED BY AN UNQUALIFIED, DISHONEST, HANDYMAN A YEAR PRIOR!

I ONLY HOPE THAT TIM IS AVAILABLE TO REDO MY KITCHEN SOON. HE ONLY HAS WORD OF MOUTH ADVERTISING, RECOMMENDATIONS, AND HOPE THAT ANGIE'S LIST READERS ARE AS FORTUNATE AS I HAVE BEEN BY HAVING TIM DO ANY WORK THEY NEED DONE, SURELY WORTH ANY WAIT, (UNLIKE MY SO CALLED 'EMERGENCY OF THIS YEAR, BY ANOTHER HORRIBLE CONTRACTOR PERMANENTLY INJURING MY SPINAL CORD, MORE!). HE WILL LIKELY BE THE MOST REASONABLE, (THOUGH WORTH MUCH MORE), WILL FINISH ON TIME, BE THERE FOR THE WORK, AND WILL TREAT YOUR HOME AS IF IT WERE HIS OWN. TIM'S HERO IS THE MAN, and quot;HOLMES ON HOLMESand quot;, ON and quot;HGTVand quot; , (HOME AND GARDEN TV), WHO RESCUES PEOPLE IS DIRE STRAIGHTS FROM UNSCRUPULOUS CONTRACTORS. TIM BOTSFORD IS THE and quot;HOLMESand quot; OF SAN DIEGO COUNTY!

    Kitchen and Bath Renovations
Conserve your finances, sanity, energy, health and trust in people. Kitchen & Bath Renovations (KBR) ruined my dream house and turned it into a daily nightmare!
We invested almost all our retirement savings into a house remodel that we designed to accommodate our needs as we age.  However, this small house remodel of approximately 850 square feet with a 150 square foot addition took eight months (twice as long as originally promised) before the contractor said that it was habitable.  This neglected the contracted work that  it took us another month to complete after we fired the contractor.
Kitchen & Bath Renovations should be stripped of every opportunity to persuade anyone that they are competent to build anything.
KBR failed to comply with the terms of our contract to build our dream home. They exhibited poor management, communications, mathematics, comprehension, execution, supervision, time estimation and lack of adequate experience.  This is particularly true in their granite work, and floor and tile installation.
The granite slabs in both of our bathrooms were cracked and chipped, and were cut and installed without the consideration necessary to bring out the quality and design in the stone.
Our kitchen counter slab was cut with large gaps on each side of the cook top and also along the edges of the cabinets. (These slabs came from Brazilian Exotic Marble and after the contractor had added his percentage they cost us an arm and a leg).
Kitchen & Bath Renovations improperly installed our Original Wood floor (approximately 900 Square feet), and then proceeded to damage over 20% of the floor during subsequent work on the bathrooms.  KBR then refused to replace the floor as required by our contract.  We now have a laminated wood floor, which is not what we had hoped for, but which we had to settle for. The base tile was not installed per our instructions, resulting in inconsistencies in base tile between various rooms.  Also there are gaps in places where pieces of the wainscot and granite are missing.
During the eight months that KBR took to do this work, the contractor was on site a maximum of only 60 hours.
From November 2010 until July 2011 we provided a livelihood for Kitchen & Bath Renovations and in return I have nothing positive to say about Kitchen & Bath Renovations or his trabajadores
