Terribly. A. We ordered the shades Aug. 2017. The last shades were received mid-December. Terry initially said "6 weeks." When we complained about the delays, his response was "There's no provision in my contract that specifies for timeliness." Any upstanding service provider would consider this delay inappropriate, and would offer some kind of compensation. Terry offered none. B. 11 of the shades that were delivered were in a color that was different than what we ordered. Terry initially offered a refund on those shades, which in retrospect we should have accepted. We had already waited almost 3 months at that point and were desperate for shades. So we said, why don't we take a look and see how off the color is, and if it's OK, we will take them. Terry brought over 1 shade. This color of shade was supposed to go into 4 separate rooms (dining, living, master bed, guest bed). We said fine, install them. The next day after installation, we told Terry we didn't like the shades and asked to take him up on his offer for a refund. Terry refused, rudely, and threatened us with his "contract attorney." He said that after we accepted the color change (again, after seeing 1 shade, not yet installed), that we had agreed to the change and the refund offer is off the table. Full disclosure, the reason we didn't like the shades was a result of poor placement choice (the shades are hung on the frame, which looks bad for this size of shade since they hang almost 6 inches away from the wall) and not necessarily the color. We felt like we got played since the refund offer a refund was yanked from under us for Terry's mistake. In our view, there was no way we could have "accepted" a color change without first seeing them installed. But Terry offered nothing. C. The last 2 shades that finally came have a different color lining/backing (yellowish) than the rest of the shades (white). Normally we wouldn't care about such a small error, but one of the shades that has the wrong color lining is at the front of the house where there are 2 other shades that have the white lining. So, when someone looks at the house from the front, it looks weird to have 1 shade a different color than the rest of the shades. We brought up this further deficiency to Terry. He offered a refund on these 2 shades, but asked that they be returned. At this point, we had waited almost 5 months for these shades (in the guest room). We did not want to give them back since my wife recently had a baby and we had grandparents staying in the guestroom. If we gave the shades back, then it would be really uncomfortable to sleep in that room since there is a streetlight right in front of the window. We had towels covering the windows for months while we waited for Terry and they couldn't block the light no matter what we tried. We asked Terry that instead of giving us a refund and asking for the shades back, if we could keep the shades and get a partial refund for the amount that it would cost us to remake those shades with the correct color backing. Again, Terry refused. We had already sent in our final check payment before noticing the color error, but Terry didn't care. He just wanted his money. I could go on and on about other defects. I will quickly list a few more so that this post isn't the longest post on Angie's List. (D) After 5+ requests, Terry refused to give us any estimate on delivery, even though we just wanted and "estimate" and not a hard date. (E) When I took the shades to another provider to see how much it would cost to fix them, they said that the roman shades do not comply with current child safety guidelines concerning strangulation (they should have snap-away cords in the back). (F) Terry offered us no choices on the pull-cords for the shades. The shades came with white bead chains, which look tacky in our tudor. When I asked Terry about replacing the chains, he said "That's not happening." So I personally looked up the make/model of the shade clutches on the manufacturer's website and found out what size nylon cords are accepted in these clutches and replaced all of them myself. It looks a lot better now. If anyone wants more info about my experience, please contact me by direct message and I will provide you with more info and evidence that everything I said in my message is 100% accurate. In sum, Terry is not a designer nor a professional who cares about his customers. He just cares about getting paid. Terry is a hustler, plain and simple.

I honestly don't remember how much we paid, or know how much comparable services cost, but we were/are very busy, and having her come to us (plus all her partners & subcontractors) was invaluable.  It saved us so much time trying to figure out who to use for which services, and driving all around to find something we like.  The time savings, for us anyway, was worth the money to use her services.  I'd recommend her for sure.  Good work, Carrie!  I'm sure you'll hear from us again

    Visual Harmony Interiors
Carrie gave input on some design issues we weren't sure about, which we expected.  What was more unexpected was her (quick, efficient) link to quality suppliers for materials.  We ended up picking more expensive stuff than we otherwise would have, but she listened to what was important to us, and saved us the time shopping around, which as a busy family, is very valuable to us.  We ended up paying a premium price (most of which went to the suppliers, of course), but got high quality stuff and service.  I'd recommend Carrie, and use her again.  Thanks Carrie!

    HOME SMART SUPPLY INC
Their prices are very attractive, but you get what you paid for. Generally, the windows and the floor we're DECENTLY installed, until you look into details - crooked, uneven, semi-lousy and just plain rushed-looking job - these apply on both the floor and window installations. Now, for the upside, they do go back to fix it. I am not sure because the flaws were POINTED OUT and I relentlessly followed up almost every day - but, they did go back to fix it. Although they damaged my wall paint and did not care, but I got tired of calling, so, caveat emptor.

    Stoneside Blinds & Shades
Stoneside installed some motorized solar shades in my family room and I liked them so much I had them install the same shades in all the rooms on the main level.  The shades do a wonderful job in keeping my main level (which is 3/4 windows!) cool in the afternoon and evening in the East Bay when the sun is quite bright.
Stoneside's designer and installers were prompt and professional.

    DRAPERIES BY SUSAN
This is the 4th time I have used Draperies by Susan and I have always been very satisfied with their work. Today, I was lucky enough to work with the owner, Chun.  I needed to replace the Hunter Douglas Duette Honeycomb shades with something that could not be damaged by my shade-climbing claustrophobic cat!  I am recently retried, so price was more important that it had been in the past. Chun listened very carefully and recommended 2"  faux wood window shades. She priced several options for me and I ended up choosing the Hunter Douglas Everwood TruGrain shades based on both quality and price. She measured very carefully and I am confident that the installation will be well done, as it has in the past.

    East Bay Blinds
Larry was AMAZING and was very accommodating with our crazy work
schedule!!  Our appt was at 7:30PM and he showed up promptly and was very
    efficient.
We originally had 3-Day blinds come in to quote
the job and they came in over $1K higher than Larry's initial quote.  We
were able to get the Hunter Douglas blinds we wanted at the cost we could
afford.  Larry gave us many options and spent a lot of time walking us
though all options.  He was extremely proactive in letting us know when
the blinds arrived and scheduled an appt with us very early in the morning to
    fit our busy work schedule.
Larry is a true expert and I would absolutely
recommend him to any friends/family in the market for blinds!

    DRAPERIES BY SUSAN
I needed window coverings for three tall narrow windows in a bedroom. I was impressed with the wide array of window coverings Draperies by Susan had on display, including samples of some exquisite fabric.  I went in with soft roman shades in mind but because the windows get the afternoon sun, I took their advice and chose instead the Duette Architella Honeycomb top down/bottom-up shades. They are functional, yet simple and elegant and I'm very pleased with the choice. The whole process was quick, efficient and pleasant.

    ALMOST EVERYTHING
This was my worst experience ever with a handyman.   Though Hurb is well intended this job was just too much for him.   He expected it to take a few hours.  He spent 19 hours over three days, after which I told him not to come back.  I hired someone else to finish the job.   His problem was that he was kind of random in the way he did things.  Like he wanted to put the curtains on the doors before he cut the hole for the door knob. He also seemed to be unaware of how he could break things.  There were several times where he had to stop and glue something back together.  He also was very slow, which I don't mind to much if he does a careful job, but the errors were too numerous to mention.   When he said he was finished there was a 3/4 inch crack at the top of the doors.  Terrible.  I pointed out the obvious crack which he had not noticed.  He said he would come back the next day and fix it.  I told him not to come back.  His work was expensive and the results a disaster.  I hope this isn't the normal standard for a Angie's List "A" level handyman.

I first met Carrie Yoshida seven years ago when looking for a designer to help in refurnishing my home.Due to unexpected circumstances, I didn't follow through with refurnishing, but remembering how easygoing, professional, and unintimidating Carrie was, I contacted her again in 2010 to stage my home for sale. We talked briefly about her ideas, but after seeing photos of Carrie's staging expertise, I had no concerns about leaving the project in her hands.Carrie worked well with my agent understanding there was a tight turnaround time, Carrie adjusted her schedule to meet the agent's timeline, she incorporated the agent's ideas in her design plan, and she ensured that the date of staging was convenient in my schedule.I arrived home around 8:00p on that date and was overwhelmed by the transformation of my home.I remember walking around each room awestruck by Carrie's work everything tastefully coordinated, beautiful color schemes, paintings on walls, flowers in vases, carefully placed eyeglasses near a pencil and pad in the office, the finest details I wouldn't imagine.I considered not selling the house if I could keep the staging!!! Friends who attended the first open house commented on how amazing the dcor looked, one friend so excited by the color Carrie chose for the kitchen walls that she had her kitchen painted in that same color. I was in escrow within the week of that open house.
When I moved into my condo, I contracted with Carrie to do the interiors.I started from scratch with a remodel, so there was quite a bit of early work to be done choosing paint colors for the walls, hardwood and carpet flooring, window coverings, and hardware for kitchen cabinets.Carrie established a great rapport with my contractor, which was essential to the process. When the remodel was complete, Carrie helped me select furnishings for every room in the two-bedroom condo.Again, I started from scratch, bringing only my piano and grandfather clock.Carrie started the process by asking questions about my style what colors do I like, do I have traditional or modern tastes.Having no style to articulate, except that, having grown up in Hawaii, I was interested in an Asian/tropical feel,I showed her photos of my Hawaiian dream home, and that was all she needed. Carrie, with her keen eye for style, proceeded to find pieces that reflected an Asian or Polynesian feel, yet, had traditional features I think she referred to my style as transitional and what could have been an onerous project turned out to be a most pleasurable experience for me. Carrie made it so easy by doing the leg work, presenting me with options, never trying to hard sell, always respecting my opinions (actually valuing my opinions and ideas!), and making sure that she was incorporating into the design my decorative items, those personal treasures that make the condo home.
Aside from her professional expertise and approach (always on time for appointments, answered calls and text messages within an hour, responded to email within 24 hours, flexed her schedule to accommodate mine on many occasions, transparent and fair in her billing practice, etc.), Carrie is kind, generous, and has a great sense of humor. I cannot recommendVisual Harmony Interiorsmore highly!!!
