Landscape Lighting reviews in Oakland

It didn't. I was stunned to learn that a professional woman of my means and credit score needed a husband to be present to discuss a job he was totally disinterest in. I was the person commissioning the job; I was the person paying for it. I thought my misogynstic days were behind me. Apparently not with this company.

    Got Watts Electric & Solar
We purchased a new home in Oakland in November 2014 and simply wanted to install some recessed lighting in place of the super ugly florescent lighting that was in the house when we bought it, and fix a few "small" electrical items that our home inspector recommended.  I reviewed Angie?s List and Yelp and saw all of the 5-star reviews for Got Watts, so we had them come out to give us a quote.
Jeremy promptly came out to the house and was very honest, friendly and informative when going through our plans with us and letting us know what our limitations were and what Got Watts was able to do.  During the process, Jeremy told us that we would need a power panel upgrade to bring more power into the home since there was simply not enough power to provide enough electricity for the home (we were already previously informed by our home inspector that this was a possibility).  So, this would require us to install a bigger power line from PG&E coming into the home, and also a new power panel.  We chose Got Watts for the project and they proceeded with the job.
After completing the installation of the recessed lights and the new power panel, it was (quite unfortunately) discovered that the new power panel was not compatible with the wiring in our new home, which was 70% knob and tube wiring.   The presence of knob and tube wiring was never discovered by our own home inspector and not included in our home inspection report!  Jeremy tried to find a fix for us so that we would not have to rewire the house (i.e. remove all of the knob and tube wiring).  He spent 12 straight hours at our house on a Sunday, looking for the culprit section of knob and tube wiring that was causing the circuit breaker to trip when challenged.  He was unable to locate the problem, but while in the process of looking for the problem, he discovered even more poor wiring deep in the recesses of the house, which was a further safety hazard.
We discussed our options with Jeremy and concluded that a rewire was the only option left if we wanted to pass the final permit approval from the City of Oakland for the new power panel.  By this point, it was around Dec 18th and we really wanted to move into our new home by mid to end of January, and still needed to have the walls (which would have giant holes in them due to the rewire) patched up and painted before moving in.  So Jeremy and his crew worked on the rewire project all throughout the Christmas and New Year?s holidays, fitting us in wherever they had openings during this time.  We were so appreciative that they worked so hard, spending time on our home when they could have been home with their loved ones over the holidays. The final outcome was better than we could have imagined and we are so happy with the finished product.  We now have a safe and fully modern wired home.  We even had Got Watts install high-speed Ethernet, digital voice and cable jacks in several rooms since the walls were already opened for the rewire project!
Throughout the project, Jeremy, Troy, Abe, James and other Got Watt team members were true professionals and always answered our questions.  They took the time to explain to us why certain previous wiring in the house was done with total lack of safety, and how they were going to fix it.  Jeremy said to us during the process, ?this house is the worst house we have ever seen from an electrical standpoint in 15 years of doing business.?  In addition to managing their timeline perfectly, Got Watts? team brought in boot-covers to wear to install fixtures that arrived late after we moved in, and they were extremely careful not to dirty our newly cleaned floor and furniture.  They straightened the crooked switch plates (installed by previous owners) whenever possible for a better aesthetic and provided other valuable design related suggestions from the electrician point of view.  They left their master lock box for our painter to use to make our painting process smooth while we were not at the house.  They are true professionals that offer the highest level of service and experience.
Despite the massive hurdles we all had to overcome, Got Watts did the job and finished on time! It was an expensive and much bigger project that we had anticipated, but in the end we were very happy that we chose Got Watts to complete the project for us.  We highly recommend them to anyone who has electrical needs for their home or business.

    Keeney Electric
Carl was very helpful providing suggestions and helping us know what fixtures and wiring to buy.  I was able to schedule the work about 3 weeks after the initial visit, arrived promptly, and finished the work professionally as agreed.  We love the lighting and the ideas he had to improve our initial plan.  Would definitely recommend Carl and will use them again for this kind (or other electrical) work.

    Home & Garden Construction Group
I used this company for a full landscape design as well as the execution of the design for the from and back of my property. I live on a downslope so a professional company that stands by their work and has experience with drainage, sloped properties, etc was very important. They rendered a full design with multiple options based on my sketches as well as many adjustments based on my feedback to create a working version of my ideas. They are not cheap, but you honestly don't want cheap landscaping if you want it to last and it was well worth the money, it was a lot of materials, very top quality craftsmanship, lighting, stone, pavers, etc. Our house looks totally different, more modern and beautiful and will only get better as the landscaping matures, after about 7 months it really looks fabulous and so far it is really holding up quite well, drainage and irrigation are perfect so far. I'm waiting for a few follow up plants and trees, but other than that I would gladly use them again. The owner of the company even came by during the process to make sure it was going well. They also worked shockingly fast without sacrificing quality with a very professional team that respected our privacy as well as that of our neighbors, I can honestly say my house, from a curb appeal perspective, is the by far the most attractive on the block.

    Home & Garden Construction Group
This is the second project completed with Mike at Home and Garden Construction Group (HGCG) and, like the first project, this one far exceeded our expectations! Our house, a typical 60's-era ranch, was obscured from view by a monolithic mass of 40-plus year old junipers completely overgrown with ivy that prevented determining the actual topography of the yard. Our front porch was lined with dated, decorative white wrought iron posts and railings and the step at the front door was a dangerous height that was responsible for many near-tumbles out of the house. A used brick facade further dated the appearance of our home. Our driveway, original to the home, was so poorly sloped that it was impossible to exit the passenger side of our car without nearly having a leg broken by the car door swinging shut. As part of this project HGCG completed an initial design and removed all plants and hardscape. Once the actual topography of the yard was revealed Mike worked with us on a redesign that met our vision and budget. HGCG installed a retaining wall, steps up from the side walk and a pillar for a new mailbox; removed the wrought iron and redesigned the porch and front steps; regraded the driveway; installed pavers on the driveway, front walk, front porch and side yard; installed drip irrigation; obtained and planted all the new landscape; and installed lighting. During the project, Mike sourced a new finish material for the retaining wall - a stunning, rough-hewn granite - that led us to expand our project to include refacing the brick facade of the house. The attention to detail, beautiful and meticulous craftsmanship, and competence of everyone who worked on the project was amazing. Mike was a pleasure to work with - providing excellent, artistic and practical design advice throughout the project and always keeping our budget in mind. As a result of the project our yard is beautiful and our house looks great! Friends and neighbors are stunned by the transformation! Every time we drive up to the house now we can hardly believe that the lovely home we see is ours!

They did a very good jog. They seem to be very professional and they offered suggestions. They gave me an estimate first and stuck to that estimate. Their clean up was okay. They were willing to work during the weekend which was very convenient for me. They were not the lowest of the estimates I got but they had a good understanding of the work.
