It went great. I'm still recuperating but it's going well. I had both hips done at the same time - not that common but Dr. Pugh thought it would be fine in my case and he was correct. I've had zero problems. He's a very good surgeon and, unusual among surgeons, he's also a very nice, friendly guy with a great bedside manner. He not only visited me in the hospital, he stopped by almost every day I ...

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Needed hips replaced. Wanted a surgeon who used anterior approach when possible. Dr. Pugh was recommended by two people who had used him for the same surgery.

I didn't have a chance to sit down before I was called in. Dr. Pugh has a very pleasant PA (physician's assistant) who saw me first and examined my hand. When she couldn't identify the exact cause of the pain (and I couldn't either), she called in Dr. Pugh. He came in right away and with one brief exam/manipulation of my thumb, had me saying and quot;OUCH!and quot; More degenerative arthritis, thi...

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
I have seen Dr. Pugh a handful of times now. My most recent visit was for what I had assumed was an old soft tissue injury to my thumb that continued to cause pain and weakness. I had pain while dressing, picking up a book or binders (which I do a lot), and anything that pushed my thumb back or involved a "power pinch" left me in pain that sometimes lasted days. Marisol and the rest of the front desk staff are always cheerful and accommodating and I never have to wait more than a couple of minutes. The day of this appointment happened to be the day BART transbay service was out due to a fire and traffic on I-80 was horrendous. I let them know I'd be late and they were so nice and cheerful about it, I could hardly believe it. I arrived 20+ minutes late and still, no wait and no "attitude". They're always friendly and they love dogs. (Mine is with me 24/7 and acccompanies me to work. They very kindly let her come in with me.) A quick co-pay at the desk (I have a Sutter Health network PPO, so I don't receive a bill), a Tootsie Roll from the bowl and we were done. Correction: While the buildings are all connected, this office is located at 3012 Summit St or 350 30th Street, not so much 3100 Summit, which is a full block away. You can take a free shuttle from MacArthur BART up to Pill Hill.
