    Lee's Drywall & Plaster Repair
Overall, it was a great experience. Mr Lee did exactly as he quoted to us, he was on time, he kept the work area as clean as
possible, and most importantly he did a quality job.  Drywall work might appear easy but it's not, getting the texture to match the existing texture on the wall is a true art and Mr Lee know what he is doing as he matched our existing wall texture perfectly, you would never know any replacement of repair work was ever done.  His attention to detail is top notch because he takes his time to do the job right!

    System 1 Acoustic Ceiling Removal
It is quite a process and we respect the time it takes to do this type of work. It is a very messy job, but Richard's crew does a fantastic job keeping your home protected. It took them so much time to just prepare the area in order to keep your home safe. Two guys worked the first day to remove popcorn ceiling in living room and upstairs rooms. They were down a man so it took the next day with one man to complete removal. The job cures for a week then two guys came back to paint ceilings. We too got the "cloud" texture and it is virtually smooth. Wish we would have gotten more of a texture. The next day he sent one guy to prep and paint our living room/dining room which has 18 foot vaulted ceilings. Too much for one guy, but he did finish the job. They do clean up completely each day they are in your home. Very nice and respectful team. We had to have them come back and redo our family room and hallway downstairs because they did not cover repairs made in family room where the electrician had to cut wallboard in ceiling to install recessed lighting. With the cloud texture, it doesn't allow for imperfect ceilings that have been masked by popcorn. Richard did make it right and we love how our home looks and feels without that ugly acoustic ceiling! Price was a little high for the paint job in living room/din room, but we couldn't have done it ourselves. All in all, a fine job! Richard is very proud of his company and rightly so.

    Lee's Drywall & Plaster Repair
Mr Lee was very professional.  He came out and gave me an estimate, explained how the job would be performed, and answered all of my questions.  I set an appointment for him to do the work.  It took most of a day to complete the job.  The result is excellent.  I can not see any sign that a repair was done.

    Quality of Work:
The overall quality and value of the work that Jim and his crew performed was outstanding.  I am a perfectionist, and when the project was completed it exceeded my expectations.  Jim was involved personally in the majority of the work, and made sure everything was done correctly, beautifully, and in a clean and detailed manner.

    Process:
Jim and his team were very professional.  The other guys on the job were his brother, and another worker who did a great job.  No shady characters, no day laborers.  They were always on on time, polite, and willing to discuss the project and options as different things came up during the course of the job.  In general, Jim did a great job of communicating.  I counted 57 emails that he sent during the course of the job.  There were also probably 20 or so text messages, and a number of phone calls.  Jim always responded promptly to all communications.

I have a few items of constructive criticism, and tips for those working with JB Custom Remodeling in the future.
    • Materials/Budget:  There were some misunderstandings at the beginning of the job.  I believe these were mostly due to honestly different views between me and Jim of the type of "materials" that were included in the contract.  The contract specified materials in general terms like "premium slab granite counter tops".  On the big items like granite counters, tile, sinks, paint, plants - there were no issues.  All the materials Jim selected were premium quality and really great.  On some of the smaller items like light/fan combos, guest vanity, microwave, vanity lights and shower rod - Jim gave me specific options after the job started.  When I didn't like the options he presented, we went back and forth until I eventually learned to ask for the dollar amount that he "budgeted" for those items.  Since I wanted nicer items than what he budgeted, I ended up coming out of pocket about $1000 for upgrades (original contract was $22000 and I ended up spending about $23000).  I want to emphasize - this was not a problem, just an honest difference in expectations.  Bottom Line - If I were working with Jim again and there were fixture type items on the job, I would have him specify the material costs he budgeted for those items - that way I would know up front what I was looking at if I wanted to select something other than the items he suggested/budgeted for.  I know this is not practical to do for all the items - but for the smaller fixtures that people may want to pick themselves, I think it would work better.
    • Time to complete project:  The project was estimated at 25 working days.  I signed the contract and made my 10% deposit on 09/16/11.  I paid another 50% of the total, and work started on 09/29/11.  The project was completed on 01/06/12.  So basically 3 months.  I was stressed out at times during the project because I am doing a refinance, but was waiting until the work was done to do the refi.  I did not anticipate it would take 3 months, and was afraid the rates would go up.  This was not Jim's fault.  He only specified 25 working days - not a completion date.  This is just a note in case time of completion is important on your job - if so, discuss this in more detail than I did before starting the project.  I believe the time it took to complete the job was due to the high demand for Jim's services, and the high volume of his referral business.

    Integrity
The one thing that I came to appreciate most by the time the job was completed was the integrity of Jim and his team.  In anything you do in life (especially having work done on your house) there are always going to be issues, tensions, etc.  Throughout the process, Jim kept saying "don't worry about it", "I'll take care of it", "You will be happy when it is done".  Those are difficult things to live up to and a lot of contractors throw them out there as just lines of bs.  Jim lived up to what he said and more.
Jim, his brother Cary and the other worker on the job were just good people.  When the job was over I gave them all a small cash Christmas present.  This was not a tip - the money I paid for the job was for the job.  The reason I gave them a gift was that they are good people with extreme integrity in what they do - and I wanted to let them know that people appreciate that.

    Lee's Drywall & Plaster Repair
Lee was on time, returned my phone calls, and showed up. I had a great experience with Lee and wish I could post the pictures of the job he did before and after that I took. You can't see the holes. We loved the work he did. The only word you can describe Lee's work is excellence. He takes time to answer your questions and uses the latest in technology. He considers your safety and your quality when getting the job done. It is important  to him that you are 100% happy with his quality work. He charges a fair price and goes beyond your expectations. We are keeping him on our favorites list.

Brian gave an estimate based on pictures of the ceiling. He came the next day to repair the dry wall. His color match impressed my wife who had to admit the repair could hardly be noticed.
