    I do not post reviews immediately after a service. Please read the entire review to fully understand the grade of C.
    First, the company was reluctant to come to my house since I live outside the company?s normal service area, so the owner wanted to charge me extra for the distance.  I was a little perturbed at the increased rate since the company is only 35 miles away, which in Southern California is not very far. But since the company had been well reviewed on Angie?s List, I agreed to the increased charge. The crew, which comprised the owner, his wife, and one helper, arrived near the time agreed upon.
    I was standing at the front door when they pulled up, and as they approached the front door, the owner, who did not know I was standing at the door, said, ?We need to do this quickly so that we can get [the helper?s name] back on time.? And quick the job was; they were in and out in 33 minutes. Now since I had asked that only the living room carpet (19? x14?) and the hallway (18? x 3?), I can understand the amount of time they spent (I had removed all the furniture from the living room and vacuumed before they arrived so they did not have to worry about moving the furniture) .
    The reason for the C rating is this: first, Watkins Carpet Cleaning didn?t do anything special. The job was what I would expect from a carpet cleaning company. So the C rating represents Average. They vacuumed the carpet and hallway a second time and steamed cleaned them. That?s it. Nothing about the cleaning wowed me. Truthfully, Watkins Carpet Cleaning didn?t do
    anything that I couldn?t have done myself.
    Second, the owner, after cleaning the carpet and hallway, wanted to spray them with ScotchGard or Dupont Teflon protector (I do not remember which one). I explained that we did not wear shoes on the carpet nor did we eat or drink in the living room, so the chances of us spilling anything or tracking dirt onto the carpet was minimal. That did not dissuade the owner from urging me to have him treat the carpet and hallway. In fact, one of his arguments was that he had driven ?all the way from Redlands to here.? I finally agreed to the $25 fee for the treatment, but asked him to cut the ratio of repellant to water to a minimum, so he diluted the mixture as I asked, but the treatment was simply a spritzing from a hand-held plastic spray bottle. He quickly and rather
    randomly sprayed the treatment on the carpet and on the bottom row of books that lined the bottom shelf of the book case in our living room. He was in a hurry and the spraying was sloppy. The treatment was definitely not worth $25.
    For the reasons above, I will not have Watkins Carpet Cleaning come back, but there one more reason that has nothing to do with the actual cleaning: I consider the owner rude, not to me, but to his wife and helper. I was raised to say ?Please? and ?Thank you? to people. The owner never once said ?Please? or ?Thank you? or was gracious to his wife or his helper when he told them to do something. He constantly issued commands, for example, ?Get hot water from the kitchen? or ?Rake the carpet over there.? I did not find his attitude and demeanor appealing.
    All-in-all I did not find anything special in the work that Watkins Carpet Cleaning did. They did what I would expect from a carpet cleaning company, and if the client lives in the company?s service area, the client may wish to call the company, but because of the rude behavior to the owner?s wife and helper, I would not call the company again even if I lived in the service area.
