    I?m heartbroken about my new haircut. After I reading Angie?s reviews, I looked forward to a great cut with Jim. My hairdresser of 15 years retired three years ago, and since, I?ve struggled finding a good hairdresser. My experience has been disappointing, with me cutting my own hair (which is not good cut). When I met Jim, he was so sweet and informative. I was totally at ease and happy to be there. While he was cutting my hair, I kept telling him that the old cut was still in hair. In his gentle voice, he assured me he got it all, that he cut off TWO inches. So I gave him the benefit of the doubt and let him do his thing. At the end, Jim did a fantastic job blowing my new haircut. My hair looked marvelous. He gave me further reassurance that anytime during the next 7 days, he will be happy to recut any part of my hair at no charge. I thank him and leave him a generous tip.

    The next day, I when styled my hair, I realize it was the exact same cut I had given myself; he merely cut off two inches. I thought, how could this be and why would he do this? I thought, he must have masked the bad cut with a good blow dry, which is a favorite trick of cunning hairdressers.  I reminded myself of his ratings on Angie?s List. After all, he was so sweet and gentle. I decided to retry again the next day. My heart sank when I got the exact results. Then I remembered how my former hairdresser, who gave me wonderful cuts, always used clippers to section off my hair so she could blend it with last section she cut. He never used clippers, he just combed through my old style and cut two inches all around.

    Heartbroken, I called him on Monday, three days after my cut my hair. I told him I cannot manage my hair and he could recut parts of it. He got defensive and in a raised voice, said, ?Come in tomorrow, but I don?t know why since I cut it perfectly.? Then he added, ?You shouldn?t have any problems since I only cut ½ inch off.? I reminded him he cut two inches, because I asked him at the salon how much he cut. I explained to him I have the same identical cut that I gave myself, but it is now shorter and more unmanageable. He gave me same defensive attitude, ?I cut your hair perfect.? I, then proceeded to tell him that in the back of my head, there is long strand of hair, which is three-inches wide, where it just lays there, and since he seared the bottom, it has a weird upward curl. He said, again, that was not possible that he cut my hair perfectly. I, then, told him that in the front, on both sides of my face, I have seven inches of straight hair with no layering and it just hanging there. He raised his voice even more and said, ?I cut your hair perfectly, don?t come in tomorrow.? I told him he gave me a 7-day guarantee and all he said was, ?I only cut your ½ inch and it is perfect.? We both hung up without him honoring his guarantee.

    I am not sure why Jim was so defensive when I called him or why he was so rude. I would have loved for him to fix my hair. It most seems like he has a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde personality. Be very cautious of this person.

    We have a 17 month old boy with a lot of energy (as most do). We took him there for his first haircut when he was 12 months and were taken care of by the owner's daughter in law and she did a great job. We came back 2 months ago and were encountered by a girl named Erika. Unfortunately she didn't really do a good job. His hair was all messed up especially on the top (very puffy) and all around a poor hair cut job. We let it pass as I understand it is difficult to cut a toddlers hair. I am sure it is. We just came back today and unfortunately run into the same girl. This time she really showed how much patience she got (meaning zero patience). I sat down and held him and she tried for literally 1 minute. As my son was moving instead of suggesting viable options she just pretty much stopped and said that she couldn't cut my son's hair and that was it. No options no let me try this or that. She just basically said too bad and showed us the way out. We were shocked.

    I can't say enough good things.  I've been going to them for at least 6 years. They're super friendly, and know what they're doing.  Anytime I have explained to them what I'd like to try, she has done it exactly how I wanted it.  They make great recommendations for color, cut, and hair products (but they aren't pushy) and know what will work and what won't.  There's a (free) parking lot in the back.  They're now open on Sundays for walk-in clients.  They have punch cards too.

    At first glance, the shop looks like just a hole in the wall, but I drive by their corner (Coldwater & Magnolia) several times a day, often at night, and I always notice their sign with the flashing lights, which is always turned on, even late at night and early in the morning, so it always catches my attention and made me curious about them. One day I was waiting for  a prescription to be filled at  Walgreens and I needed a haircut so I decided to try them out. To my surprise, there was no waiting, and this was a Saturday afternoon,the haircut was very good, they were fast and best of all it was only $12. I did not like that they added a $1 service charge  for using a credit card , but thats ok, I always remember to bring cash now. Anyway, they are very convenient, because I park in the Ralphs parking lot, get a lottery ticket at the 76 station, walk across the street and get a good, fast & cheap haircut, then walk back across the street  to do a little shopping at Ralphs and then I'm on my way. I'm definitely glad I tried them out and now I'm a regular customer.

    Karin Maihart stylist at Brentwood Cut Salon
    As always, Karin was professional from start to finish.
    Karin has been doing my hair for almost 13 years. Even when I moved to the valley, I never thought twice about driving to Brentwood to continue with her. She is truly a highlight specialist--she is so meticulous that I don't have visible roots as my hair grows. She is a perfectionist and is so careful to be sure the color and cut are just right. Karin always knows how to work with the texture of my hair and shape of my face (and my lifestyle as a busy mom) and can suggest new cuts when I'm ready for a fresh look.
    And the salon is in a cute area with nice shops (and easy, free parking--with validation). Today as always, Karin really made me feel well taken care of--getting my hair cut was a pleasure.

    I'd promised to find my 8-year-old niece a salon where the hairdresser would really listen to her and cut her hair the way she wanted. Young Attitudes came through 100%. Denise listened to my niece and gave her the best haircut she's ever had. The salon focuses on kids, but they are a full-service hair salon and it's obvious that many whole families go there. They have games available for the kids to play, but unlike at a well-known chain, the games are free. Speaking of free, between haircuts, clients can come in for a free bang trim. They also have free valet parking, though we had no trouble finding street parking. All in all, my family couldn't be happier with Young Attitudes.

    It is David?s own company and is in Sherman Oaks. He is the coolest man ever. He makes it like a fun experience. It is very relaxed and it doesn?t smell like chemicals which is disgusting. I tell him to do whatever he wants because I trust him. He has a great sense of humor and all of his clients are like friends when you walk-in. It is very relaxing. I was really sick a couple of years ago. My arms were broken. He took care of me and did whatever I needed at that time. He got me in and made sure that I was taken care of. He even brought a soda for me to make sure that I was okay. He is the most caring person and I love him. It is like having your uncle around. I love that. I would use his services forever.

    Karmen gave me a beautiful haircut, color, conditioning treatment and styling. I wanted a new color with some red in it but I know how tricky reds are. She helped me pick out a beautiful color for my complexion. My hair is still shiny from the conditioning even after I've washed it (my over 50 hair hasn't been shiny in many years.) She spent the time to give me a haircut that really flatters my face too. I'm getting so many compliments! Thanks Karmen!
