Birdsall Construction & Remodeling & Plumbing

There were quite a bit of things they had to do. What I really like about that company is the owner, Mr. Birdsall, gives you an estimate -- a price -- and then it is that price exactly. He does not change it, even though it was about a year and a half later. He came to the house, brought everything and got the job done immediately. He did not have to run out and get a part or anything. The electrical work was all done to code, approved and everything. It took one afternoon to do the job.

    Fine Builders Inc
I recently had the kitchen, 2 bathrooms and powder room completed by Fine builders. The current powder room had a rough space that needed to have much more storage shelfs and lighting. Daniel and his team had a few challenges on their plate with the house because the existing layout was not easy layout. Daniel and his main guy were able to address all the issues with the powder room and we are extremely pleased with the final results. The actual team that performed the work, installed new drywall, sand it and paint the walls and ceiling, replacing the existing plumbing due to a past problem and low pressure, completed electrical work and installed the vanity, toilet, and flooring. Daniel provided us with daily updates on the project and more than that, he made sure that I was happy with every detail of the bathrooms kitchen and the powder room. Daniel was extremely patient and understood exactly what I wanted. I am very particular about my home and I stressed to Daniel how important it was for me to have every perfect. Daniel understood and reassured me that he would make sure I was happy with the results. Daniel and his team exceeded my expectations which is pretty hard to do :) I recommend Fine builders for anyone looking for a quality contractor to remodel their home. I will definitely be using Fine builders for future projects in my home.

    Sun Power
I would never recommend anybody to use that company that I used. It took them longer than long to get them up and get them approved. I tried to contact them in June and I didn't get my solar panels till next April. They finally turned it on. The company is called Sun Power. I used to get about 165 to 400 dollar electric bill it is now a dollar 72. I actually went down to the city. It took so long and I was going to tell them they had not filled their obligations under the contract. When I went down to the city and found out that the only thing they have done is file to the permit. They had already performed under the law as per the contract and there was nothing I could do. I say if they approach anybody run like hell in the other direction. I have other friends who have used other companies. They are much, much faster and much less trouble. The actual installation by the people who installed it was fine. Their timing and they misrepresented what it was and when it would go in. The system is in now and working. I haven't had any problems. The problems I had was not with the system. I understand that the materials that they use are of their own manufacture. What I was told was that they had so many order that they couldn't keep them which again tells me that the administration of the thing was not done well. I haven't needed any service last year when they finally came on board. I was calling them daily or whatever trying to get them to come and fulfill their obligations under the contract and put the system in. The installers were very nice. As I say it is their administration that they can't get straight. I don't think the product is bad. It seems to be working the way you would expect it to. They just couldn't get their stuff together to put it in, in a timely fashion. I would say the quality of the product is probably 'A'.

    SPARKY'S ELECTRIC
He is actually a neighbor that's down the street for me. Throughout the years, he has come over when we've had issues. It's a very good company. He is punctual. He determines what the problem is and fixes it the first time. He gives a very reasonable price. He does a good job. The last time he came, he was able to find the problem and solve it. It didn't take him long at all. He just knew from the symptoms how to fix it and he was in and out so that was nice. It didn't cost too much because he knew what he was doing. The price was reasonable.

    SPARKY'S ELECTRIC
They've also put in some LED lighting in my kitchen. They've also done all our fans and anything that needs electric work including doubling the size of our electrical panel and working on electrical needs in our attic.  We are hoping our future General Contractor will use them for the electrical work.  Anytime we need anything they are here. The electricians are friendly, reputable and their work is good.  They will try to work you in if there's an emergency and they remember their customers.  He has a good reputation in our community.

    Dial One Sonshine
I will only use them forever, I got my own guy, Sean, and I even left them a note, "Only send Sean". They showed up when they said they were going to, they respond back immediately when you call them, they are nice, knowledgeable, and they are reasonably priced. I'd say they're normal but I'd rather pay for quality.

    Guzman Contractors
    1. Carlos did a wonderful job on our driveway. He completely took out the old cement, laid a new foundation, and poured a new driveway. We have a very long driveway, from the street to a detached garage. His team was very careful to ensure the slope of the new driveway would direct water away from the garage door, when it rained.  We were very impressed with the quality of the work and attention to detail.
    2. Carlos's team also completed several small construction projects around the house including, installing pot lights in the hallway, replacing several electrical plugs throughout the house, installing a new electrical outlet in our master bath, reworking a gas line under our stove top, replacing outside lights on our back deck, and replacing an electrical light switch in the garage area,. All work was completed on time and everything is working beautifully. Its so nice to get all these projects done!
    3. We liked the work Carlos and his team did so much, that we  had them re-do our shower in the guest bathroom. We were having trouble with tile cracking in the base of the shower, which caused the seamless glass surround to pull apart. Based upon Carlos's recommendation, we had the entire shower redone. His team tore out the existing glass shower walls, took down the surrounding slate tiles and completely removed all debris. They rebuilt the shower, re-did the walls, and re-tiled. An additional contractor came in to replace the glass surround. Work was done on time and as expected. We loved the fact that every effort was made to ensure that the new shower/tile work matched the existing floor and bathroom decor.
    4. We highly recommend Carlos. His pricing is very fair, he does very thorough work, and the end product is beautiful. His team was a pleasure to work with. We especially liked the way everyone cleaned up after themselves so there was no construction mess.

    Patios By B&B Inc
My experience with Patio's by B&B was very good.  Jeff knows how to please.  He is very knowledgeable and recommended a design to fit our budget and yet blend well with our house.  His communication was excellent and professional.  It was obvious that his employees take pride in the company and their work.
Yes, there was a "hitch," that could have been addressed earlier during the construction.  B&B took responsibility and addressed our concerns quickly with no additional cost to us.  Our patio is beautiful and we are very pleased.

    Sunrun
I tried multiple times to contact the company to get a quote.  Methods were phone, emal, and website.  An email to Mr. Frederick after phone calls were not returned, was unanswered on April 24.

Finally after a couple weeks of attempted contact, an appointment was set for May 2, 1:00PM, but REC Solar did not arrive, nor notify me of a cancellation.  I had cancelled another appointment to meet with them.  My time is valuable.  Only after I complained to their Customer Service page on their website did Mr. Frederick call me.  He ignored 2 calls from me to the same ph# made briefly before I complained on the website.

Once on the phone, Mr. Frederick is impolite, and does not obey common business courtesy.  We want to purchase between 5kw-10kw for our home, and if that works out well, about 20kw-50kw of 460 3-ph for work.

While Mr. Frederick was on the phone, he was arrogant, unknowledgable, and demanding.

He claims REC Solar can do ground installs, but says they won't do it, no matter how much money I'm willing to spend.   He was irritated concerning the fact I did not want solar on the front building roof, and he was not interested in quoting solar on the back building, which is nearly identical in construction and southern roof area, and has better access to the grid.

"No Quote" is a perfect answer if you are not interested in a project.  This is what Mr. Frederick should have notified me of in early April.  It took almost a month to get that "no quote" and he wasted at least 3 hrs or my time at work, which is $125/hr.

Sidebar - I'm not sure Mr. Frederick sells solar power.  I believe he is selling financial packaging for rebated PV systems.  Why?  He indicated my wife should be present, and he required to see my electric bill.  Neither are actually necessary in our case.   I notified REC Solar, how much power I want, and that I was paying cash.  This apparently is not how Mr. Frederick likes to do his sales.

Keep in mind that I REALLY want REC Solar to do this project.  Costco recommends them, and I believe strongly in Costco recommendations.  I spend over $50k a year with them, and they never let me down.  But in this case REC Solar is NOT a good recommendation due to a single employee malfunction.  If I were employed at REC, Andrew would be selling time share condos tomorrow.

If somebody at REC Solar can bypass Andrew, please contact me.
