Ben Franklin Plumbing of lakeport was prompt and courteous. I handled the job remotely over the phone and mom says they treated her right. I inspected the job in person and found everything exactly as described over the phone.

Nick, the plumber kept me apprised throughout the day. His plumber shop had a problem with another job and the appointment slipped. Even though I was serviced after hours, due to the appointment slip, I was not charged after hour rate. Nick turned the water on at street, found the leak and also found a shutoff valve we didn't know we had. Nick was able to get the secondary shutoff valve working, so I don't have to pay to have one installed. After the water heater was capped off for both gas and water, Nick gave an estimate for replacing the water heater. Due to the late hour, the water heater replacement couldn't be done the same day.

After noticing a high chlorine odor, and bad taste in my tap water,(I wass also feeling slightly ill) I called our local water company. The water company sent out someone who tested my tap water and found it to be at 1.57 for the chlorine level (not good) He told me that they were using a new system, and that it should become lower soon.At this point I started buying bottled water to drink and cook with. The next week, nothing had changed, so I again called the water company. This time they sent out the manager, he tested the water and found the chlorine level to be at 1.7. This is close to Pool level. He told me that it was strange that the level was so high where I live (Im on a hill), and that they had not recieved any other customer complaints. He said that they would try flushing the system to see if that lowered the chlorine level. After he left, I did an internet search and found "EWG's drinking water database" This is a wonderfull website which shows the water test results for most if not all water companies in the US. The results were frightning. Although my local water company had no EPA violations since the 2006/2007 testing period, they consistantly test over the allowed health guidelines for safe drinking water.Something had to be done, After haveing had Benjamin Franklin Plumbing out in the past for misc. plumbing work, I decided to call them about my water problem. Stan, a technician, and the owner is who I spoke with. He came to my home within 2 days of my call, and installed a "whole house" water purification system. The work was completed the same day, and I am super happy with the work that was done.

I heard a loud noise at the back end of my home, and discovered that there was a leak under the floor in master bathroom. I grabbed the phone book and started calling plumbers. After eithier receiving no answer, or answering machines for the first 4 companies called, I finally got to speak to a live person (woohoo). I had actually gotten the answering service for Benjamin Franklin plumbing. I explained my situation, and was told that I would get a call from a plumber within 30 mins. I got the call in 15mins. The man, Stan Kincannon, was very nice, I told him what was going on and he asked if I had turned off the water to my house. I told him that I had not. He talked he through the process of shutting of the main water to the house, and said that he would be at my home within 30 to 45 minutes. Stan Kincannon arraived at my home , and had the leak fixed, and my water back on in less than 2 hours.
