Locksmith reviews in Newport Coast

What distances Stan from other locksmiths is not only his professionalism and candor, but his knowledge and skill to fix a European door with a latch locking mechanism located inside the door.  We were told by many that such a lock could not be fixed- you would have to buy a costly new door.  Thank You

    Newport Mesa Lock & Key
He had to come out twice because I bought the wrong door hardware the first trip out.  He was very gracious about that inconvenience.  He did great work.  It seemed expensive and the bill was hard to decipher.  But, I should have asked questions about the bill.  I will use him again and ask those questions next time.

I started by searching the internet, but was uncomfortable with locksmiths I called because they all had call centers answering. Their quotes were all given as "X for the service call and each lock starts at X, but prices will depend on the type of lock, the condition of the locks, etc." It just felt ripe for a scam, where they come out, and suddenly the cost is much more than quoted. Then I researched the internet to find out how to find a reputable locksmith and learned that, at least in California, locksmiths are LICENSED. But many of the call center ones aren't. Licensing means the person is qualified, has had a background check, etc. There are companies with no license, and companies where the owner may have a license, but they're using people for service calls who aren't individually licensed, with no background check, etc. - and it's too easy to make an extra key and have access to your home or car. Beware!I Next I checked Angie's list (duh!) and found Newport Mesa Lock and Key there, and one other that I called. Both sounded good, but Bob Kiewiet, owner of Newport Mesa Lock and Key, had lower prices, and during our short conversation I knew I had found a reputable locksmith. He asked me a few questions about the types of locks I had and was able to give me a quote per tumbler, based on the information I gave him. He arrived right on time for our appointment, took care of every lock, made the 10 new keys I asked for (original Schlage keys, not the thin, cheap ones you get when you get keys duplicated), and also lubricated all of my mechanisms to make sure they'll stay in good working order. He came to me with one additional charge because my front door was a fancier door handle and lock combo and therefore a little more work to access, but it was a very minor difference ($15), and he came to me first and explained why. He's great! I have his name on file and will definitely use him again. He also has the DBA Woodbridge Lock and Key (for marketing purposes in Irvine, CA, which makes sense) and he has lots of good reviews there! Try him!

    FARLEY'S LOCKSMITH
We were happy with the work. It didn't take him long to re-key the locks. I had to call back as one of the locks was hard to open and they came back out to fix and also I had forgot about the lock on the gate and he ordered me a new one to match the gate and called back in less then a week to install.

Excellent service. Prompt. Courteous. He made a suggestion to really help us even though he lost work by doing it that way. I would definitely use him again.

    Carl's Lock & Key
I called Carl's Lock and Key. They contacted the resident and set up a time. They rekeyed all the locks and sent me 2 spare keys. I paid them and the job was done.
