  • It went so well that I continued with Arrowhead to remodel the entire house, including second bathroom, new flooring and paint throughout, retiled fireplace, removed wallpaper and wood paneling. I am thrilled with the results. Crew was professional and did the job right and I was comfortable leaving the house while they worked, even though I was living there through it all. Eli, David, Barak, Sarah, Shay- good people and family oriented. Highly recommend them.

  • Although the Angie's List posting for American Vision Windows indicated that the company sold window coverings, upon calling the company I was informed that they no longer sold window coverings. Angie's List was not helpful in finding window covering vendors, so I searched via Google and was connected to Yelp where I found an abundance of vendors with 1-5 star ratings and customer reviews. Yelp allowed me to easily request price quotes with one click and I was able to shop multiple vendors instantly. I arranged several in-home visits and selected a provider within a few days. Very pleased with the Yelp resource. Not impressed with the inability to find vendors via Angie's List.

  • Dream Painting (Paul Yun manager) did an excellent job repainting our home. It took us nearly four months to get everything scheduled, but Paul and team were extremely responsive throughout the process (we needed to get our fascia replaced before painting could start due to termite damage). Dream Painting recommended high quality professionals for the fascia work and then performed the painting immediately afterwards. The team was extremely professional throughout their 4+ days on-site and the work quality was outstanding. They prepped our stucco beforehand, removing old screws / outdated Dish / broken old external cables and then did an excellent job with the painting details, working around and repainting four large sets of french doors with inset windows. We would definitely hire the team again.

  • Hiring Tekton Group was a huge mistake. The nightmarish experience prompted me to write this review to warn buyers of what a liar and cheater Allison was. She talked the talk and got our trust to design the backyard. Although it was a slow start, we understood it’s a new community and the HOA took time to review. It didn’t take us long to notice the quality of work and the materials they used were inferior. When our neighbors started digging their backyards, we noticed their rail and house were protected and materials were kept neat. We only had glass protected for 2 weeks, it fell and they just left it there. The workers cut the tiles near the glass and left speckles and pits all over our rear glass door. The damage was permanent. Now I worry my glass would break one day because of the tiny holes in them. Tekton’s standard materials were very cheap. All we wanted was a decent backyard, nothing extravagant. It was tough to fully understand the quality of the materials quoted. After the project began we started seeing samples and realized that the materials they quoted were just too cheap to accept. We had to pay extra for almost everything. At first we did not question the upgrades, but then our neighbors backyards started to show nicely, we asked their contractors and realized the upgrades we paid were standard by other contractors. This was their money making scheme #1 – quote low and make you buy upgrades. Tekton made numerous mistakes and blamed us for changing our minds. Due to Allison’s communication errors, we were stuck with the wrong color stone, cheaper marble counter, wrong decking color (all of which we paid upgrades for), the list goes on. If we wanted to change, we had to pay full price for their mistakes. We decided to live with it. We started asking for cost breakdowns for the upgrade because the cost was going out of control. It was then we knew what a lair Allison has been. We changed an area of 12*12 to a different tile because the design was boring. That along cost us $9,000. The tiles we picked by us at a tile store which were priced at $1.99 per square ft. This means they charged $60 per square ft for labor, and that’s the price for upgrade, not taking consideration of the original cost. The fruit trees (another upgrade) cost $1,000 each. I went to the nursery and saw the same species, same size tree for $49. Allison explained her trees were $600 and it cost $200 for shipping, $200 for planting. But we did not buy these one by one. How do they expect anyone to accept $1400 for shipping 7 fruit trees, not to mention these are tiny citrus trees from a local nursery? After that finding, we told Tekton to stop the upgrades and just give us what’s quoted. The other trees arrived and what’s quoted as 5 gallon plants were substantially smaller than the 5-gallon size we bought ourselves. Allison explained we cannot compare trees to trees, 5 gallon does not equal to 5 gallon. I had to be an idiot to swallow that one. This is their money-making scheme #2 – use cheaper materials. After that, things got worse. Their sub contractor mistakenly built a bigger deck than was quoted. We did not even saw the drawing or approve the size. Tekton made us pay $1250 for the extra cost. Our budget went up 150% because of the upgrades and mistakes. We have one of the smallest yards on our street, no pool, yet it cost more than others with larger yards, a swimming pool, and nicer full bloom trees. For 3rd party items which Tekton did not even touch such as the rear deck railing and the awning, they marked up 45% and try to get away with a poor job. I would be Ok with whatever they mark up, however after the contractor left our exterior with nail holes, I saw what a lousy job Tekton did to patch up. The wall was not even sanded; they used the wrong color paint which made the exterior look awful. I had to get their contractor to show us the invoice to prove how much Tekton marked up, and pin them down to finish the patching. For the amount of money they made and the little involvement, it’s way overpriced. After confronting Allison they over charged us, Allison replied they did not make money on our project. They only mark up 25% and 12% goes to taxes. I saw the receipt from their subcontractors and they clearly marked up 45% or more. And with tax write off, not the whole amount is taxable. It really bugged me when a person made money off you and still cried poor. Getting ripped off is one thing, dealing with a liar is something else. This is a company I would never ever use again.

  • If I could give them zero stars I would! Culligan of Santa Ana (Hallswater) installed a water softener and drinking water system at my house in Orange County. This was the worst experience of my life.I would not use this company under any circumstances!! The system was installed and did not work for 10 months. I asked repeatedly for someone to fix it and no one came! Finally after almost 11 months of it NEVER working they came out and the service man said it was installed incorrectly and it would never have worked.. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

  • Dept. of Real Estate, Enforcement 320 W. 4th St., Ste. 350 Los Angeles, CA 90013-1105 2549 Eastbluff Drive #207 Newport Beach, CA 92660 July 23, 2013 Dear Dept. of Real Estate, I am writing to request that HOM Sotheby’s International Realty reimburse me for $1401 in escrow cancellation fees, home inspection and appraisal fees because one of the company’s brokers, Patsy Gamble, and her client, Scott Sprick, lied on the Transfer Disclosure Statement (TDS) by checking “NO” to the following questions: II. Seller’s Information (B) Are you (Seller) aware of any significant defects/malfunctions in any of the following? (C) Are you (Seller) aware of any of the following: 16. Any lawsuits by or against the Seller threatening to or affecting this real property, including any lawsuits alleging a defect or deficiency in this real property or “common areas” (facilities such as pools, tennis courts, walkways, or other areas, co-owned in undivided interest with others) Despite an initial commitment letter to us on this property, our lender, Bank of America, ultimately declined the loan after one of its loan officers discovered that there was in fact a major lawsuit filed by the Harbor View Knolls Homeowners Association (HOA) to which this property belongs. Bank of America refused to make the loan until the litigation was settled. As a result of this concealment by both seller’s agent Patsy Gamble and the seller himself, Scott Sprick, my husband and I incurred the following expenses for which we request reimbursement by HOM Sotheby’s International Realty: Escrow cancellation charges: $674 Appraisal: $447 Inspection: $280 Total: $1401 Patsy Gamble, for her part, has herself been a homeowner in the Harbor View Knolls community for many years (almost 20, I recall her saying). The seller, for his part, and his parents prior to their death, have been homeowners in this community for nearly 30 years. There are only 64 units in this HOA, and all homeowners are privy to the minutes of HOA meetings as well as to all financial issues related to the HOA. I have provided the following documentation to support my request: a. Residential Purchase Agreement dated April 5, 2013 (delivered April 6, 2013) b. Seller’s Transfer Disclosure Statement dated April 8, 2013 c. letter from Harbor View Knoll HOA lawyer to Bank of America mortgage loan coordinator Christel Pearson dated May 17, 2013 describing law suit d. copy of the complaint filed on behalf of HOA against Millennium Building Services dated October 4, 2013 e. email dated May 17, 2013 from HOA-retained attorney Robert Ward, Burdman & Ward, San Diego to me providing a copy of the litigation report prepared by expert Ernie Orchard f. letter from me to Patsy dated May 19, 2013 (sent as email attachment) requesting explanation of the litigation g. Bank of America rejection email due to litigation dated May 22, 2013 h. cancellation of contract, release of deposit, and joint escrow instructions dated May 21, 2013 i. Versal Settlement escrow letter calculating the refund of our deposit, less cancellation fees j. copy of Versal Settlement check refunding remainder of deposit k. copy of canceled check for home inspection done by AmeriSpec l.
