    Hardwood Construction
Claude did an excellent job. He was timely and very professional. People who see the kitchens are astounded that they were refaced and not new and always comment on the excellent workmanship. I compared prices to Sears and another provider and Claude was less than half the price and was able to customize my project with wood and handles. I used shaker doors, with Blum soft close hinges and maple ply drawer boxes in alder wood. He also made a new cabinet for over each refrigerator. The cost for both kitchens was $8875. I have recommended him to several friends and would highly recommend using him for any hardwood project.

Where they sealed off the stairwell it looks like it has been there forever - you can not tell that this area was remodeled which was the goal.
When the completed the range installation I was initially disappointed that they did not put anything to replace the 1 foot of counter top that needed something to cover it.  We had discussed putting a butcher block there, but this was not written into the contract - even so, I expected the job to be completed.  Omer resisted at first, but gave me a $50 discount off of the contract price.  When the owner Enna called me to follow up, I told her I was happy with the work that was done, but thought they should have included the butcher block.  After this talk, Omer went to a lot of trouble to get me a butcher block and deliver it to me  - to do this he had to drive 50 miles one way.
I am very happy now with all aspects of the job Horizon Construction and Remodeling did for me.  I would definitely work with them again.

We had a scheduled appointment, the guy didn’t call and didn’t show up.  When I called him he said he was out of town. He wasn’t apologetic, he just didn’t seem to care. I was inconvenienced by taking the day off to be at home for the appointment that they didn't do.

    APlus Interior Design & Remodeling
Overall we're extremely happy with the project and we're very happy how everything turned out.  since this was a large remodel project and needed major structural changes as well construction details it definitely took longer than a typical project. but thanks to their team of project management & beautiful design & details that they put in.  Everything just came out amazing.  They didn't nickel dime us and the price that Alex gave us was the price we ended up paying.  We had few upgrades here and there which we gladly paid for but over all we're very happy with APlus and we would recommend them to any of our friends and relatives.  One of the great part of APlus approach is that it's one stop shop and they have a team of all trades on their staff, therefore we didn't need to worry about looking for a plumber or electrician or a drywaller.  Our project manager coordinated everything and made sure everyone showed up on time and took care of whatever needed to be done.  we're definitely happy how everything turned out.

    Omar Construction Group Inc.
We had less than 3 weeks in June 2013 to get the beach house ready for our summer weekly renters and after students located at Newport Beach. That included tile work, new bathroom furniture, lighting, fixtures - everything. What a joy is to work with such handyman who goes an extra mile to get the job done on time and right at the first time. No shortcuts and cutbacks.
First floor bathroom walls needed to be halfway re-framed due to old termite damage. Frame was rebuilt, treated against termites, new hardybacker put on walls. New copper plumbing welded. New design pattern tile laid on walls and floor. New shower fixtures, shower doors, medicine cabinet, new ceiling fan. Bathroom looks wonderful. I will attach before and after photos of the job.
On the second floor we had a master bathroom to be remodeled. It was a disaster left after students. New design tiles laid, both on the walls and floors, new plumbing, New faucets, shower doors, fixtures, vanities, lamps, new ceiling fan (that were never even put in for some odd reason). Always good suggestions and advice on how to get our ideas work even better.
New tile was laid in a diamond pattern throughout the first floor. After decades of dark brown carpet our house seemed light and airy with the new light tile. Living dining area has a nice ceiling fan with lamps. Actually all old ceiling lamps were changed by him in the course of that less than 3 weeks.
He was always very punctual. Most of the time he was on the jobsite from Riverside to Newport Beach by 8 am the latest and worked long days.
He is open eyed for details, he is resourceful, punctual.
I am very happy that we found ourselves Omar.
We have worked with him on our other properties as well.
    1. He rebuild a kitchen from scratch at our other property
    2. Laundry room complete remodel for our tenants.
    3. New sensor lights throughout the apartment complex.
    4. Vinyl fencing at our rental property for backyards.
Again tons of bathroom, kitchen, dining and entry area floors tiled.
We are very happy with his work from the beginning to the end and I do not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who needs simpler things like repairing screen doors or more complicated repairs like repairing automatic garage door.

We interviewed six different contractors for this project. Sean Aichel came to our house twice (which is quite far from his offices) and even came in the evenings after work when we were available. He was very accommodating. The first time he visited, he thoroughly looked at the kitchen and measured, and came back with three detailed estimates for us for each option we were considering. The estimates were extremely detail -oriented and accurate, and it is obvious that Sean has a good eye for quality. He had a few good ideas we had not considered. Also, he has a very good person at the office who answers emails promptly and thoroughly. (As a side note, three of the other contractors including one highly rated here did not even provide written quotes, only verbal quotes. Seriously?)
So we were leaning towards hiring Sean, and had him over a second time. Again, we were impressed with his knowledge and had a good rapport with him. He submitted 3D drawings that really let you see how the construction would look when finished, and a detailed bid. We were extremely close to hiring him. In the end, however, we could simply not afford a custom kitchen, and hired a contractor who has extensive experience making IKEA kitchen cabinets look customized to the space.  Since literally everything in the kitchen has to be replaced, the cabinets are the the one area that we could cut that would allow us to make our budget.
I am definitely keeping Sean in mind for the future, and would have no problem hiring him for any other job.

    Kyle Beym Home Improvement
The workmanship was at best average to poor. Drywall was not installed flat causing baseboards to be wavy. Holes for outlets were a little too big and crooked. The window was not square and was off by 1/4 to 1/2 inch over a span of 4 ft. One ceiling fan had a screw that was over tightened and the head was broken causing the blade to droop and wobble. Kyle returned to drill out the screw and tap new threads but then the fan did not work. When the fan repairman came, he said the motor was shorted out and could not remove the new tapped screw and had to take the fan back to the shop.

    Ameduri Construction
Ameduri Construction takes on more than they can handle, leaving them to be unreliable, irresponsible, and unprofessional.  They do not stand by their work.  Mark Ameduri underestimates the time required to complete a job, then bills for time and materials, leaves the job unfinished, and makes you feel like he is doing you a favor if he makes the time to come back.  He does not show up on time, leaves for hours during the day, and bills at $37 per hour for the time he is gone.
I initially called Ameduri construction to repair a glass sliding door in one of my showers.  That was my number one priority.  Mark said that it would cost $100 for him to come out to fix the shower, but that if I had other projects to be done, he would charge $300 for a whole day.  That seemed like a good deal, so I had him come over to look at some siding repair that we also needed.  While he was there, he said that he would purchase the siding pieces before he came to work, and that in one day he would fix the shower door (which only needed some adhesive) and repair the siding.  We also noticed that a wood shelf that is outside a second story window was rotting, so he said he would get the 2x4's to repair that, and that he would bring a helper to paint the outside of my hot tub for $12 per hour.  He said that he would come at 8AM and work a long day, until 7 or 8PM to get the job done.
This initial estimate was done around the middle of May, but Mark did not know when he could actually make time for the job.  He wanted to work Sunday and Monday of Memorial Day weekend, but that is not allowed in our neighborhood, so we finally agreed that he would start at 8AM on May 30.  He actually showed up at 10AM that day, left for 4 hours to "purchase the materials", and left by 5PM, leaving me with a shower door that had been disassembled, but the adhesive had not worked, and leaving me with pieces of unfinished siding.    He wasn't sure when he could return, but when I was very dissatisfied with that, he somehow moved some other jobs around and returned the following day.  On the second day he brought a different adhesive which worked on my shower door, and continued working on the siding, although he did not complete it.  That day he put the shower door back on and caulked the metal frame that he had loosened to get it out.  When he left on May 31, the job was not complete, and he could not come back June 13.  During that interim period, the caulking he applied disintegrated because he had not cleaned out the water that had been trapped under the metal frame that he had caulked.  He came back on June 13 and put some shims under the frame so that it would dry, saying that he would come back on June 15 to caulk that and thereby finish that repair.  However, June 15 he didn't show, and he cancelled the following appointment that he had set to come back as well.  So one month later, my first priority, my shower door is still not fixed.  The siding job has been finished, but at three times the price he initially estimated, since he initially said he could do it in one day, and it took three days.  The wood shelf - he spent a lot of time painting the wood on his last day here, but ran out of time to install it.  Throughout the day he said that it would be finished, and then at the end of the day he said "I just don't think I'm going to have the time to install that today".  Since that time, I have had another contractor come to look at it, and he said that the wrong paint was used, that it was not properly primed, and so the wood has bled through the paint, and it needs to be painted all over again.  The helper to paint the hot tub - Mark called the day before they were to come and said that he wanted $15 per hour, not $12.  I asked if it would be complete by the end of the day and he said yes, so I agreed.  What I didn't know was that Mark would spend the last two hours of his day helping the helper, so the total cost was actually increased by Mark's rate of $37 per hour, thereby also contributing to the reason why he couldn't install the wood shelf that day.  He then left all of the wood in the middle of the garage, obstructing the walkway to the door to my home.
Mark told me that his wife is due to have a baby, and that she is on bed rest.  While I am compassionate to that, I do believe that he then should have had the forethought to take on only those jobs that he could finish, not to leave me with something half done.  I have two children that share the shower that he worked on.  He said that it would have taken him one hour or less to come over and recaulk the shower.  A dedicated contractor who values his customers would have found a way to clear that hour.
When Mark cancelled the two days he had planned to come back to finish this job, I contacted him and asked for a refund, at least for the amount I paid to have him repair the shower door.  It is now over one month since his first visit, that shower is not functional because the water will leak out of the area that needs to be caulked, and I need to find someone else to complete his work.  His response was "reallly?".
I do not recommend this contractor.

    UPDATE: 7/17/2012

The response below is not accurate. I have the invoice to show that I was indeed charged cntractor's $37/hr rate for painting in addition to the $15 /hr helper rate. Furthermore he alleges that I told him I was going to call Angie's List, when in reality I just texted to ask him if he was going to finish the job or to refund the fees so I could get someone else to do so.

Finally, I never called to purchase a Big Deal, the contractor promoted the Big Deal to me. I wasn't aware I had to purchase this online.

    Vincent Smith
Vince is a pleasure to work with - he's a good guy, honest, works hard, and does his best, overall very nice to deal with. He is very familiar with code and builds things to code and finishes with quality in mind. He charges hourly plus materials, and is very reasonable. I have lots more for him to work on, and I'd definitely hire him back in the future should the need arise.
