Home Remodeling reviews in Newark

    Green California Builders
Con Artists! These contractors go by various company names Green California Builders out of San Jose, Ca California Construction Center out of North Hollywood, Ca, And San Jose, Ca and California Construction Bay Area Inc, out of San Jose, Ca as well as various other names over the last 10-15 years, all the same people just under different guises. They go by different names to hide from complaints and bad reviews for the work they have done. The contractor Erez Zilberberg (aka E.Z.) and Project Manager Sagi (aka Sage) are dishonest and will say anything to have clients sign the contract. We mistakenly thought the reviews on the various sites (Angies List, Houzz, Yelp) were true reviews only to find out the hard way that the work this contractor does is illegal, not to code , is not properly supervised and the final product is very poor workmanship. We hired them for a remodel of our kitchen, 2 bathrooms. 1. They refused to put an end date on the contract and a project that should have taken 2-3 months took 10 months due to workers working half days, being intoxicated on the job, taking naps during the work day in our home, workers being pulled from job to job each day so no job ever got finished (all of this was caught on camera). 2. They did not call for any of the necessary city inspections, closed up all the walls, floors, etc. (This is illegal) 3. All of the plumbing and electrical work done in our home was done incorrectly/illegally, causing significant leaks and damage to our home, all of which we had to have redone. (by a different company obviously) 4. The proper protection was not placed over the various areas of our home (hardwood floors, custom stair railing) the workers caused thousands of dollars of damage. 5. They stole property from our home (caught on camera). 6. They did not install cabinets or countertops level or per design therefore when water is on countertops it pools in corners and spills off edges (They refused to fix their work). 7. They painted walls the wrong color and even painted patches of semi gloss paint on walls that were painted with flat paint, followed by Contractor EZ swearing he cant see the difference between the semi gloss and flat paint. 8. None of the work in our home was supervised by a licensed contractor, these guys are about quantity of jobs as opposed to quality of work and do not provide any supervision of their workers. They are under investigation by the licensing board for their work and will have their license removed as a result. They have previous complaints against them for similar violations. We have learned the hard way how important it is really do your homework and investigate contractors and their backgrounds prior signing a contract, if a contractor has complaints against them, have changed their company name and go by various names, and if anything feels, dont walk in the opposite direction! A bad remodel that destroys your home and stretches on for months and months past completion date can cause immeasurable heartache on your family!

    California Construction Center
Beware! Beware! Beware! We read the reviews and thought this was a reputable company, until we later learned you can hire a service that will pay reviewers (not actual customers) to put positive reviews on sites. It was too late for us when we found this out, we hired California Construction Center (CCC) #891847, Contractor Erez Zilberberg (aka 'EZ') and Project Manager Sagi (aka 'Sage') for a kitchen and 2 bathroom remodels in the Bay Area. They absolutely destroyed our home!!! They used a subcontractor Elkabetz Inc #976883 who has a suspended license and CCC refused to tell us the name of the subcontractor company so we could research them and find this out, as we would have fired CCC. We did our own investigative work to find this out. They did not call for any city inspections (though we paid for permits) and closed up the walls, bathroom floors, etc. without having the work inspected. This is illegal!!! All the work (plumbing, electrical) was done by unlicensed workers, none of which were surpervised by anyone licensed, which is also illegal!! All of the work they did has been faulty. The shower leaked through the ceiling into downstairs, the toilet leaked through the ceiling, the bath and bath valves leaked, all causing mold to grow in the walls/drywall electrical was not done to code and is unsafe, our hardwood floors were destroyed throughout the house by the workers. We are now having to have all the work redone. This was a two month job with CCC and they took 10 months, our family was displaced from our home for the duration and now we are displaced again to have all the work redone properly and to code. CCC has complaints against them with the CSLB (California State Licensing Board) and as a result of our complaint and the work they did, they will have their license revoked. We have written this review as we truly wish could have read an honest review from an actual customer before hiring CCC, and having our home destroyed.

    Angels remodeling
I am very picky and detail oriented but Sal and Angel got my approval after the job was done. Sal is a tile craftsman that seems to take pride in doing a good job and making sure every every tile is perfectly lined up layed just right which shows in his work. I normally wont hire a non licensed contractor but would definitely hire him again for my next remodel!

    Unique Home Design & Remodeling
Unique Home Design & Remodeling did an amazing remodeling job at our house by remodeling the kitchen, 2 and a half bathrooms and the replacement of the entire floor. During the work we had few issues with the leveling of the floors (which was before the remodeling), and all of those issues were fixed professionally and accordingly. Their hardworking workers and office staff were excellent people to do the work and to report to us on a daily basis. They didnt care that our children came up to watch them working and to see what was going on too. We highly recommend them to any family or home owners who are interesting in remodeling any part of their house.

    LAR Construction & Remodeling
We finished our work at our house with LAR construction & remodeling and we have worked with Gili to completely renovate our kitchen. Now that our remodeling if completed, we can state clearly that we are very grateful. Before, during and even after the work was finished, Gili showed and proved to us how knowledgeable, honest, hardworking person he is and what type of excellent ideas he brought in to the work. We are extremely satisfied with the new kitchen.

We did a 500 square foot room addition on our home and got several bids before choosing to go with Mike Claiborne on the recommendation of someone who had used him for several projects in the past. The addition is now complete and we couldn't be happier with our experience with Mike. He was EXCELLENT and made the process as easy and stress free as possible with such a large scale project. I have worked with other contractors and landscapers, both strangers and friends of the family and Mike Claiborne was by far been my best experience. He is a no-nonsense type of guy who knows his stuff and gets it done quickly. He's been a contractor for over 20 years and it's obvious he takes great pride in his job and his work. Mike is very personable and more importantly, extremely respectful, prompt and he does not cut corners. He's the type that uses very specific sub-contractors that he know and trusts and he has high expectations for them as well. They cleaned up after themselves, they respected my family's space and time and they were fast but thorough. Mike didn't let any of his subs start without being on-site himself. I've hired contractors that I only saw twice, on the first day of the job and the last, but Mike was here every day working alongside his subs and checking their work. When one of his subcontractors couldn't make it, rather than delay the project, he would do it himself. He provided me with a timeline of exactly what would be going on during the project and the duration so I would know what to expect and when. When something changed, he provided me with an updated schedule. I've NEVER heard of a contractor doing that so that actually is what sold me on him in the first place. His bid came in a little bit higher than some of the other ones I received but I am more than certain that he was more cost-effective than going with the others in the end. Even with a slightly higher bid, he was extremely reasonable. He doesn't just throw out an arbitrary dollar amount "per square foot" like some do, he used the approved plans to get materials and labor costs directly from his sub-contractors and truly calculated it all out before giving me a bid so there were no surprises later on. He told me upfront if aspects of what I wanted couldn't be done (and why), and he didn't add charges to my bill unless they were extra things I specifically requested. He issued a change-order for every addition or credit to the bill so I was not surprised by random charges. He was always available when I tried to contact him. I honestly will never use another contractor. Even my two young children loved "Mr. Mike" and still miss seeing him every day!

    Re-Bath By Schicker
Workers were polite and kept area clean. Materials were good quality. Some minor 'fine-tuning' issues that extended the completion time, but rebath was responsive to our requests to complete to our satisfaction.

    Bay Easy Construction
It was great working with Bay Easy Construction. The staff were highly professional, knew exactly what needed to be done and took their time to report the progress daily. The entire work was completed by the date that the contractor, Ofer, and the designer, Rebeca, had promised us. We feel we made the right choice and we highly recommend Bay Easy Construction.

    Nunez General Contractors, INC
Mike with Nunez General Contractors was the Manager that managed our remodeling project and his end results work and schedule was just perfect.  I know when usually you start a remodeling project of any kind, you figure the schedule to be very flexible and the remodeling project to always take weeks or months to finish beyond what the contractor says, but In my review here I would like to tell you that Mike and his crew of people finished on time.  All the workers worked every day and did not miss one day or late, and the work was without any doubt top notch.  I had, really, nothing to complain about.  Therefore Mike and Nunez Construction deserve 5 stars.  What I liked most in this remodeling was that Mike made sure that the workers will know exactly what do do each day and that all the materials will be at the house waiting for them and not the other way around.
