    Unique Home Design & Remodeling
Unique Home Design & Remodeling did an amazing remodeling job at our house by remodeling the kitchen, 2 and a half bathrooms and the replacement of the entire floor. During the work we had few issues with the leveling of the floors (which was before the remodeling), and all of those issues were fixed professionally and accordingly. Their hardworking workers and office staff were excellent people to do the work and to report to us on a daily basis. They didnt care that our children came up to watch them working and to see what was going on too. We highly recommend them to any family or home owners who are interesting in remodeling any part of their house.

They were able to get out here to do an estimated very promptly. They were delayed because they were backed up to get the work done but that is how it is these days. I don't think they should be dinged for that. They showed up on time, the day that they were supposed to be here.

He mentally manipulated me to get the job. He came to me and told me he fears God and he is going to take good care of the project as God is always watching over him. I was almost ready to give the work to another contractor. Once he got the work, he made me believe that he is working very efficiently and he had some past bad experience with payment in another project and he needs 40% payment up front. Once I paid, he slowed down significantly and eventually he deceived me with his religious manipulation and took all the money from me. Then he stopped showing up completely. I had to beg and I eventually told him that we will settle in the court and then he showed up for few days, only to do terrible quality jobs. I got scared looking at the kind of work he was doing. Eventually he stopped coming again and this time I didn't beg him to show up as I was scared that I already lost money but with his poor work quality, I might lose my house as well. Here are some terrible works:

     a. He installed the water heater wrong, and that voided my water heater warranty. I have the correspondence with Rheem that I can use to prove that his installation voided the warranty.

     b. His careless nailing broke my existing tiles in the bathroom and the tile fell in the bathroom to damage a brand new bathtub.

     c. He deceived me into believing that my previous contractor installed a shower without waterproofing and I trusted him as a Godly person so I let him redo the shower. Later on I found out that the waterproofing was done correctly by the previous contractor. I have the previous shower pictures that proves that the waterproofing was done correctly and I showed those pictures to him but he lied to me that the shower was not waterproof.

     d. He made unauthorized charges multiple times at Home Depot. He didn't submit the receipts and he was telling me he is gonna do that later. I caught him as Home Depot sent me electronic receipts with items that are not relevant to my projects, including foods, drinks, and expensive tools.

     e. He stopped responding to another of my colleague from whom he took some materials.

     f. Most of the plumbing that he touched started leaking as soon as I turned on faucets or other appliances. This includes the water heater(careless installation voided the warranty too as I mentioned earlier),toilet, bathroom sink, kitchen sink, dishwasher.

     e. Shower fixtures were all wrong as the water pressure was so low that I couldn't take a shower. I had to hire a plumber after he left to fix all his plumbing mess.

     f. All the drywall finishing is terrible. Multiple electric outlets have holes around the faceplate as he didn't cover those.

     g. Flooring installation is terrible too. Several places make creaking noise when I walk over.

     h. He damaged the brand new flooring in multiple places as he didn't cover it properly.

     i. He cut the laundry room door too close to the wall and now I cannot open the door properly.

     j. He left no transitioning molding space between laundry room tiles and hallway laminate. I cannot even install that myself.

     k. He painted the exterior of the house wrong as he messed up my trim color.

     l. My brand new kitchen cabinets have scratches and unfinished edges because he cut wood pieces to cover additional scratches that he put beforehand. I even found that some door hinges were not installed and I had to screw those.

     m. His shower tile installation was crooked and I had to pay him to demolish those and then pay for the materials twice to install the floor tiles again. This was one of the many mistakes and I had to pay twice to correct that.

     n. He constantly yelled at me by claiming false things. He went to Home Depot to pickup online orders and he claimed that he lost a whole day as Home Depot could not find the materials. Later on when I went to Home Depot and asked them why they couldn't find the materials, one guy told me that they found the materials but my contractor refused to take as he told them he doesn't have space in his truck. Similarly, he claimed he lost half a day at Lowe's. I went to Lowes and asked them why they couldn't give him my materials and the lady said that she herself went to back to pull the order and it took her 10 minutes but she couldn't find my contractor once she came back. His yelling got so bad that my blood pressure would go up everytime he went to pickup any order.

Those are just the few mess up that I can recall of the top of my head. There are numerous more. I haven't even included things that were part ofthe contract that I didn't beg/force him to do as I became worried that he is costing more in my materials than my loss of money because of paying him in full. E.g., I don't even have toilet paper holder yet and my garage has big big holes in the wall everywhere, I don't have a kitchen fan over my stove etc. My most significant problem with him is his mental manipulation using God.I can swallow losing money but I cannot swallow getting cheated because of believing that a God fearing person would do an honest job.

    Nick's Handyman Service
In the future I will ask the handyman what he can or cannot do.
Several fixits were not in his tool box. Despite not knowing how to fix the frige , he did manage to find the problem. But My faucet, french door handles and lock, dripping tub, and laundry room door that wouldn't stay closed were not something he wanted to tackle. So we went to the book shelf. He did the job and it looked ok, but then on closer examination , the shelf wasn't plum to the sides. His plastering and painting were messy, and I called him back. He did a much better job.
I was disappointed in that I didn't feel I got enough value for my cost. I was disappointed in that he had some very good reviews.
As for  professionalism. He arrived very unkept and dirty. He walked on my carpet and left soiled spots.
He did come earlier then our appointed date because the ice maker was making a lot of noise. I appreciated that.
Nice guy, but I wouldn't hire him again.

Mr Fuller showed up on time and completed the repair without any problem.  I definitely will call him for future repairs.  He was very knowledgeable as to what needed to be done.

At the end of July 2014, we contacted Fuller Handyman and requested that we have a quote on several items of work that needed to get done around the house.  We did say that the immediate issue was a leaking outdoor water faucet that needed to be address ASAP.
Mr. Fuller came out on Aug. 6, 2014 in the afternoon.  One of the items that needed to be addressed was a severely leaking outside water faucet.  I said that we needed to get this addressed first and ASAP because of the drought.  I had already purchased the replacement faucet.  I just needed a quote and a start date to get this fixed.
I finally received a quote from Fuller Handyman on Aug. 25, 2014.
As I could not wait because the faucet was leaking to badly, I had fixed the water faucet myself after I had not heard from Fuller by Aug. 10.
I cannot attest to Mr. Fuller's workmanship; however, his quote was very high given the work that I wanted to get accomplished. He was also very late in getting me a quote.  I guess my business was not very important.
I have worked with other handymen and I had found that it was normal to turn around a quote within 2 or 3 days.  And sooner when you have a serious issue.

I purchased the two men for one hour deal. I was told that the fans take about an hour per fan if all goes well. Therefore I figured that with two men, both fans could be installed at the same time. That wasn't the case however, I suppose it was my misunderstanding. More like wishful thinking on my part I think.
Mr. Fuller and son came on time and both were very cordial and professional. I even had to leave my house to get supplies twice and I felt totally comfortable leaving them there alone to work. That was great!
They were able to install the fans within the two hour limit, but unfortunately both the fans are faulty. I bought them from Home Depot, 44" Clarkston White Ceiling fan with light kit and Brookhurst white ceiling fan with light kit.
    A) The 44" Clarkston fan could not be balanced and I left it on overnight, came in the room in the morning and it was shaking like crazy and knocking noise from the light kit. The guys tried their best to balance with the weights provided in the kit, and it seemed to help, but this morning it was really shaking a lot more, so much that the light kit is knocking now. In addition, I feel hardly any breeze coming from it. So, in my opinion just a waste of time and money.
B.) The 52" Brookhurst fan has a very disturbing rubbing noise coming from the motor. We agreed to leave it, but hearing it drives me crazy. Its brand new and should not be making this noise.
Bottom line, not at all the outcome that I had hoped for. Mr. Fuller addressed both issues with me after the fans were installed, and offered to take them down for me at no charge. I should have let him do it. I was just so bummed and wanted to see if I could accept their performace. NO WAY! I have decided to take the fans back to Home Depot, but I have to take them down. I will buy new fans at Lows and try to install them myself now. That should be interesting.....I just can't afford to pay for the labor again :(

    Nick's Handyman Service
Terrible experience. First of all, Nick Pleadwell abandonned the job, made me pay for the materials ($400), broke the koi pond even further than how it was before he started the job. Very unprofessional and unethical contract. I used him before for very small jobs and it was ok (switch replacement, basic plumbing, etc.). However, for something a bit more lengthy it was a total nightmare and now I am initiating a legal procedure.
Mr. Pleadwell accepted a contracting job to change a koi pond liner to fix a leak from the previous liner and clean the debris at the end.3 issues occurred from Mr. Pleadwell's job resulting in additional cost for me:1 - He created new holes in the brand new liner (which I paid for), which potentially can create new leaks overtime. This is due to a mistake to place nails in the liner BEFORE filling up the pond (4000 gallons capacity). As the water filled up it created an enormous pressure on the nails that go through the liner and 3 holes were created. He then patched them but this is a leak risk moving forward.2 - He didn't seal well the pipes inside the liner which leaks today. The pond cannot be filled to be in a operating mode.3 - He left the debris cleaned from the pond in the backyard. This is a nuisance and a health risk hazard for my current tenant. He also left the surplus liner materials in the backyard and was supposed to clean them.Mr. Pleadwell left the job even though it is unfinished. All 20 Koi finishes died in the process. At the present time, the koi pond is leaking below the pipes that would help recirculate the water to keep it clean. The stagnant water is a health hazard for my current tenant if it is left "as-in": West Nile Virus site, etc.
I found our also that Nick does not have a valid contractor license in California and is therefore doing this work illegally.

    RJL Installations
Without buying the deal I first wanted to talk with someone, verify the details and schedule the appointment. I tried calling their office, but was not able to get ahold of anyone. After a few no answer calls I left a vmail, but did not get a reply. Then I sent an email and also did not get a reply.
So after no reply to my vmail or email I hired another company (DUKES HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING) to install my attic fan. Duke is a great guy and he gave me a great price on a new furnace and AC unit installed.

I cannot say enough about Ben.  He did a fantastic job.  From estimate to completion he was very professional and efficient.  He demonstrated experitse in all aspects of his work.  Even the building inspector was impressed.  The work he did for me was framing, drywall, plumbing, electrical, and painting.
