    GENERAL REFRIGERATION SERVICE COMPANY
I described the issue to him and he recommended that I don't have anyone come out to look at it because it was not repairable. Saved me the money for a house call. Will definitely call him again when we need something else assessed. Thanks Gary!!

    Sears Appliance Repair
Initially the Sears Kenmore refrigerator was not maintaining temperature properly.  It would only cool down into the low 40s while the freezer worked fine.  Called Sears and set up a one year repair/maintenance agreement and arranged for them to come fix it.  One week later the repair man arrives on schedule, determines that a fan is not working, orders a replacement part, and reschedules for a followup appointment to install the new assembly.  Up to now everything seems good.
The replacement part does not arrive in time for the second appointment.  As soon as we get an expected receiving date from UPS we call back to reschedule the installation.  Soonest they can get someone to come out is two weeks later!  Remember, this is after they could not get their part to us in time for the appointment they set up.  OK, the fridge is mostly working, just not maintaining proper temperature.
Second appointment occurs, (different) repairman is surprised to find he is replacing whole assembly because of a bad fan but installs it anyways.  After he leaves I put the food back into the fridge along with a thermometer.  The temperature is in the mid 50s but does not seem to go down.  I think that maybe it will just take a few hours before the temperature can recover.
Nope!  Next morning the temperature is in the mid 60s - barely below room temp.  To make matters worse, what was a correctly working freezer is now defrosted!  As far as I can tell the fridge is not cooling at all, it is just acting as an insulated ice chest and the only reason the temperature is below room temp is because the food was cold when we put in back in.
Call Sears Repair expecting them to send a repairman out within a day or two since they are the ones who turned a working fridge and freezer into an insulated box.  No - the soonest they can get someone out is two weeks!
My expectation at this point is that in two weeks a new repairman will come out, determine that some different part will be needed, order the new part and set up a new appointment for two weeks later.  When the new part (again) does not arrive on time I will probably have to reschedule the appointment yet another two weeks later.  Repeat.
I should have gone with the repairman that we have used for other appliance repairs around the house.  We thought that getting the Sears Protection Agreement would be better and safer.  We were WRONG!  It is completely unacceptable that they do not have enough repairmen to provide reasonable turnaround times.  It is completely unacceptable that after they botch a repair that they still can not get anyone back in less than two weeks.

Update - 2015-02-06 We called our own repairman to see what the problem is.  He found the sealed system was barely cooling due to a refrigerant leak.  Also, he found that the original part that Sears replaced works fine.  Most likely a slow leak allowed the fridge to cool down initially but eventually the leak progressed.

We called a rental place so that we could have a working fridge.  My wife complained the the rental place about how long this was taking and he asked if it was Sears.  They get a lot of customers from Sears.  We will never buy any appliance from Sears again!

Update - 2015-03-07 Sears came again almost a month ago and diagnosed the problem as a bad compressor and possibly a leak in the coil.  At first they promised to replace, then they decided to repair.  The compressor has still not arrived and the appointment is in three days.  They have no idea when the part may arrive.  It has now been over three months.  We will never buy any appliance from Sears again!

    GEROLD'S APPLIANCE SERVICE
He diagnosed the problem over the phone and quoted a reasonable price. He turned up on time and has a friendly and professional manner with many years of experience. It's never nice to fork out money unexpectedly but I never had a moment's doubt I got value for money and would happily use him again for other appliance problems.

    LP Appliances Services
Lu was awesome. I called the factory service and the best date they could give me was a week later, with wet laundry in the washer. So I got on Angie's List and looked for the highest rated appliance repair person I could find. After reading the reviews for LP appliances I gave them a call. Lu answered directly and was able to schedule service for the next day first thing in the morning. He was professional and courteous. Worked quickly and showed me the problem before replacing it. Two weeks later everything is still working perfectly.
I would highly recommend him to anyone.

    Rosano's Appliance Repair
I made two calls to Mr. Rosano appliance repair. made an appointment and he never showed. He stated that he would honor the $19.00 as his trip charge and I did agree with that. So I'm very disappointed. I still need my oven looked at and repaired. So I'm unable to give a cost of service at this time. I probably would use Rosano's repair in the future.

    AppliancePartsPros.com
I ordered parts late Wednesday evening  and parts were delivered the following Friday afternoon (great!).

I opended the box (labeled Whirpool) and saw that 2 plastic plugs and 2 metal cover plates were missing. I immediately called customer service and explained the situation. Customer rep Kecia was very professional, appologized for the mistake and re-shipped. She explained lead time was up to 5 days which was unfortunate since I was planning to work on the dryer on the weekend. To my surprise I received the replacement  order the following day with all parts in included. It looks like AppliancePartsPros also opended the box to confirm all parts were included prior to shipping.

    Overall rating gets an "A".

Although parts were missing (hence the "B" quality rating)  I think this was more likely a Whirlpool issue and not AppliancePartsPros fault. I was also very impresses with customer service since they immediately rectified the issue and refunded my original shipping charge. To top it off the new shipment came in the next day so I could work on my dryer as planned.

Overall I  would have to say it turned out to be a positive experience and I will definitely do business with them again if the need arises. It is nice to know that great customer service still exists in some companies.

    Jags Appliances Heating & Repair
.I called Jag's to get my Viking range repaired. Sonja answered the phone and was difficult to understand with her heavy accent. But I did tell her what I needed and she said I had to have a serial number before she could schedule the work.
I called her the next day with the serial number and she didn't remember me, but said she would have the repair person call me the next day (Friday)....
I waited all day Friday, but no one called.
Finally, on Monday...Sonja called me and asked when I would like to have someone come out....did not ask for the serial number.
I told her I had already scheduled someone else to do the work and she said and quot;fineand quot;....
Jag's may be a great place, but they need some one else on the phone and making appointments....they lost a customer that day

    Mr Appliance of Fremont

John, rep. came in saying he lived in the neighborhood and I had seen his 2 vans, hadn't noted down the phone number and the Name of the company sounded slightly different from the one in Angie's list. Also the lady who answered the phone answered under the name of City Appliances or so,
John dignosed the problem as being the defroster unit, gave a price of the sensor as $103, labor $120 and taxes of $9, a total of $237. I agreed to it, casually mentioned other smaller problems with the refrigerator which I couldn't diagnose or fix - He did look at these and corrected them. In addition, I mentioned a problem with another equipment - a dish disposal unit; He looked at that and picked this up when he went to pick up the defroster unit for which I paid $180
Overall very satisfied with his diagnosis, service. I will judge the quality of the parts, etc and the price only if this problem is solved for at least a few years.

    GEROLD'S APPLIANCE SERVICE
Went well. Gerold is efficient, pleasant, and straightforward. He doesn't repair something if it only needs adjustment, unlike some r repairmenI used in the past. I have called on Gerold for at least 10 years and will continue to do so.

    Mr Appliance of Fremont
He arrived well within the scheduled 2 hour time period; he called about 10 minutes before arriving.  He diagnosed the problem immediately and gave me an estimate.  He had the part in his truck and all was repaired within 10 minutes.  Very pleasant and efficient.
