Plaster finished new and existing walls

I really hesitate to give anything less than a stellar review, but I have reasons for doing so. Let me start by saying that Robin is wonderful to work with, very positive and accommodating. He even brought a sample board over to show us what the skip trowel texture technique would look like since we were not familiar with it. That really helped us make a decision. We agreed he would do the work, from hanging the new walls, to finishing all the walls new, and existing. We agreed to his hourly quote, plus materials. He hired someone to hang the drywall, which was completed in a timely manner. Then, Robin and his son Tony got started. It's quite a messy process, and they were very good about getting everything completely covered and protected, since we were living here during the work. They did a great job, and I absolutely love the result. Robin is a true craftsman at the technique. The painted walls are beautiful, just as he promised they would be. Now, here's the thing. Our agreement was "loose". No written estimate, just time and materials, so I kept track of their time spent here. I understand time was required to go get materials, etc., but we live fairly close to his shop. In the end, when we finally got the bill, it was MUCH more than we were expecting, considering my timekeeping. Materials, expected coast right in line, however.....he charged us a full 8 hour day for every day he was here, even if it was just 2 and a half hours or 4 hours, which didn't seem quite fair. We questioned it, but he said time was required to get supplies, etc. which we understood. But, really, this ended up costing WAY more than other quotes because we had such a loose agreement. In the end we paid it, because we were very pleased with his work, and we personally really like Robin! But, our bad. We feel somewhat taken advantage of.

Many ceilings were chipping and 2 entire rooms needed walls re-plastered.

Ropinion made great suggestions, listened to what we wanted, did beautiful skip trowel surface and some smooth surfaces. Very beautifully done. Very careful to protect my home. Excellent job quickly done. Very prompt.
