    CUSTOM LANDSCAPING
I'm not one to usually write a review, unless it is exceptionally good service. This work, however, was so badly executed that I could not let it pass.  I am sorry to report that there are people who behave like this in the business world.  Not only was this company very unprofessional, but they did not perform the task in a timely manner, and they accepted money for work that was not completed, with no reimbursement given.
The first week of February 2014, my mother and I asked Custom Landscaping to prune the very large and overgrown fig tree in our back yard.  We asked that they cut off every branch or limb that was 4 inches or less in diameter. We explained that not only was the tree encroaching on the neighbor?s yard, but also the fruit was drawing raccoons, and we wanted to be able to either eliminate most of the figs this year, or at least be able to reach them and take them off the tree.  The office was to call and let us know when they would be out to do the work.  Over three weeks later, we still had received no phone call, but someone from the company came out on February 27-28.  They cut off a small pile of pencil-sized twigs and left the property (photo attached). They were at the house for no more than 15 minutes, and never knocked on the door to let us know they were there. We hoped they would be back to finish the job later that day, or on another day, but a week later the tree still remained as they left it.
On March 8, 2014, I finally pruned the tree myself, cutting it back as we had requested the landscaper to do.  The following week we received a bill from the landscaper for $80 for the pruning, which my mother promptly paid, but noted on the invoice that the work had not been done as we had asked.
On March 22, 2014, the owner of Custom Landscaping sent an email to our property owner stating that he returned to finish pruning the tree, saw that the work had been done already, and claimed that whoever had done the extensive pruning had destroyed the tree. He wanted to make it clear to the property owner that he did not do the work, and included a photo of the tree.  They
again had not given us any notification that they were coming back to do any work, but just entered our back yard and took a photo of the tree.  (By the way, the property owner approved of the way I had pruned the tree, as it had been done that way several times in past years.  The tree is not destroyed.  It is already growing out again.)
On March 25, 2014, we received a letter from the owner of Custom Landscaping (dated March 22, 2014) that was extremely unprofessional, childish and rude.   The letter begins, ?Thank you for alerting me to the inadequate trimming job on the fig tree by my
employees.  We came back to try to improve our results, but found that the work had already been done by a well-trained professional.  I took a photo, which is included, because I found the workmanship so accomplished!  The tree is beautifully balanced, with plenty of low fruiting branches as you requested. This expert did indeed lower the canopy and clear the branches from the neighbor?s fence.?  It goes on to state that he is going to send the photo to Sunset Magazine to put on their cover,
and attempt to teach his employees how to become such skilled tree trimmers.  It continues in this derogatory fashion, and is signed ?Insincerely?.  I have attached a copy of the letter in its entirety.
The day after receiving this letter, I called Custom Landscaping.  They did not answer the phone, so I left a message letting them know that I received the letter, but, since they clearly stated in writing that they had not done the work, they had forgotten to include a reimbursement check for $80.  I did not receive any response, and to date, (April 7, 2014) I have not been reimbursed.

    Clean Sweep Yard Care
We hired Clean Sweep in late August/early September of 2012, and just terminated our service with them. The service schedule was not clearly explained at the time service was initiated - our expectation was that we were paying $25 for a thirty minute visit once per week. When multiple weeks went by with no one appearing (despite our submitting payments for service), we inquired and Paul explained that in Nov and Feb they only come twice per month, and Dec and Jan once every twenty days. The rest of the year they come every week, supposedly (although that's not what we experienced in Sept and Oct).
We definitely never received the expected number of visits per the explanation Paul gave us. When someone did come, it was one person, and all he ever did was mow our (very small) front yard and blow the front and back, and our yard really isn't that big. No weeding/weed-wacking, pruning, etc. We contacted Paul on multiple occasions, and despite his reassurances that he would give us "extra time" at the next visit to make up for what we weren't given in the past, that never happened (I work from home so I know when people are here, and how long they're here for). At least five weeks has gone by since our last visit, which is what prompted me to finally end the service.
This is the first time I've ever "fired" a service provider; generally I am very accommodating and understanding. Needless to say I am very disappointed, and now need to start another search for someone to care for our yard.

Napa Valley Lawn & Garden Co
Jacob and his crew are very responsive to my lawn and garden needs. They always come around the same time each week to mow the lawn and edge and trim bushes and plants that need trimming. They check and fix leaks when I notice a problem. They fix or add or change the drip irrigation when I ask . Jacob blessing, the owner answers me promptly when I call or e-mail him about something and his workers are friendly and responsive too. Once a rock flew up accidentally and cracked a window when they were edging. Mr. Blessing responded immediately. Informed his people and told me he would take care of it, I got my window people out to give an estimate, since it was a custom window. He made good on his promise. His guys felt really bad about it too and try to avoid that. But apparently this is a hazard of the business. So Jacob is prepared. He is very good at communication. Much better than previous lawn and garden businesses. He Speaks English, which is a big help. He uses quality equipment and knows his stuff . He explains what he has to do. We've had others just put cheap stuff in that went bad quickly.when we had to cut back because of money, He worked with us. I am very satisfied. He is more organic and natural. So if weeds start showing up, you have to decide how you want to deal with it. He's not into pesticides. So if young want that , he may not be your person. You can ask him.

The workers were not here when the owner said they would be..he wasn't here when he said he would be..he dropped off 2 guys that looked like convicts and never told us they were dropped off. They cut way off our border flowers. He made several promises over and over and NEVER delivered..we paid him just to get him out of our lives...He yelled at us and swore..Very unprofessional!!!!

Napa Valley Lawn & Garden Co
They are very responsive, they always take care of everything and it's much better than the services I've used in the past where it's hard to speak to someone or they don't follow through. Plus, he is much more reasonable.

    Scott's Services & Co
It goes poorly. I would not recommend them to anyone. They don't show up frequently. When they do show up they do not do the work to satisfaction. They have repeatedly been doing bad work. They are extremely unprofessional. I have called them on the phone and they always make up excuses to why they cannot come and do the work or why they are running behind.

    Azurlite Landscape
We bought a home that has 7 different types of fruit trees Apple Pear Apricot Nectarine Oranges and Lemons as well as Rose Bushes they ere a MESS! Mr Schreiner has pruned two of them last year with the skill and eye of a true master gardener. They produced huge perfect fruit and are now healthy and truly lovely. This year we had him reshape a Nectarine tree that had been truly butchered, due to poor pruning and two years of neglect when the house was vacant. Watching the transformation to a true semblance of a stone fruit vase shape out of total chaos was fantastic. He also took the time to show me how to prune my rose bushes ( for free) and as he did them and gave me the information on how to prune them myself and what to fertilize them with. We are looking forward to doing a full landscaping project with him in the future.
