Remodeling Kitchen And Bath reviews in Murrieta

  • SES Builders did an outstanding remodeling job at my house by converting the 2 car garage into a well-designed guest house. The remodeling project was completed on time and within the promised budget and with minimum interruption to our daily routine. All the assigned people at SES builder’s office were very patient, detailed oriented that always answered my questions while the construction people delivered a gorgeous product. I will certainly hire them again!

  • Paul was not only professional but made me feel like family. His attentional to detail is unparalleled. I would hire him again in a heart beat. Paul was one of the nicest and most talented contractors I have ever dealt with!
    - David S.
  • This is a job we needed done for over a year, but we didn't feel confident in anyone else who came to give an estimate, so we kept putting it off. Daniel Jones described his techniques, offered input, and suggested someone to do the glass as well. He was professional and helpful. When work started, he showed up exactly when he said he would. The one day that he had to be a little later than the others, his wife called to let us know and to update us on his arrival time, so we were never left wondering. Anything unexpected that Daniel found after demolition, he dealt with handily and without causing us to worry. We used ceramic tile on the walls and stone on the shower floor and in the niche. The price was not "cheap," but it was fair and well worth it. The final product is perfect. No complaints, except with myself. I wish I would have called Jones Custom Tile sooner.

  • Raul did a great job for us. He took over a bathroom remodel job that had been started by another contractor. We know contractors don't like to do this, but Raul was willing to take on the challenge! He was excellent at communicating with us throughout the project, and kept to the budget. We would definitely recommend him!

  • The company did a great job, They were always on time when they say the time that they are going to be here, they are here; the tile, everything was a state of the art & i am very happy & very pleased with the outcome. They were very knowledgeable with the whole process. Highly Recommend this company to remodel your bathroom
    - Barbara R.
  • He designed, fabricated and installed all new kitchen cabinets. Recommended additional craftsmen for the plumbing, electrical, tile, paint, and countertop work. Each was on schedule and performed the work themselves with helpers as needed. We are extremely satisfied with our new modern kitchen.

  • Toby's work ethic is exemplary! He communicated well with us, understanding exactly what we desired, aways showed up to work on time, was pleasant to work with, and left us with fabulous results! We highly recommend Toby Stanley for any construction needs you may have!
    - Debra T.
  • The work started on the date that it was scheduled. All the subcontractors were polite and courteous. Gabe and Chris spent a lot of time with me talking tile design and actually laying it out so I could see it visually before installing. The quality of their work is top notch...as well as Dave's who also did some work in our home before the project was finished. The project took longer than expected due to some unforeseen issues, and then changes that I made along the way. When I had concerns with anything through out the process they were addressed promptly. Premier Tile was was also very patient and worked with me on the changes that I initiated after the process started. Never once did they make me feel as if I was being too picky or a bother. The response was always "We'll take care of it." At times I wished there had been a little better communication and job oversight but this was very minor compared to the scope of the project. Would I use Premier Tile & Stone again? Absolutely! I have beautiful bathrooms, and more importantly to me, they were really trustworthy and pleasant people to work with.

  • Our remodel project started in February and was completed in August - it was a big project. Jill never wavered, she kept on top of the contractors, sometimes having to call and recall to demand the work be complete in a timely manner and she demanded quality.  If something was not done to her standards it was re-done. She checked in with us weekly, often coming up just to look and make sure all was going well.  She did a great job, she took a huge load off of my husband and I and the results are amazing - beautiful.

    Southwest Granite is Unreliable

Owner Kevin Ham does not keep his word

    Does not return e-mails (~ 6 ignored)

Does not return calls (~ 4 ignored)

Arrive late (or not at all) (~ 8 times)

No apology when missing a scheduled appt

    Impolite

Expect your project to be nickel & dimed (over $700 in my case)

Granite craftsmanship is okay but not perfect (see pics)

Tile backsplash craftsmanship is average at best w/ flaws throughout (see pics)

SW doesn't take credit cards ( no buyer protection)

My wife & I had an unpleasant experience w/ SW

Kevin was bold enough to ask me to give a positive review on Yelp after poor customer service (against Yelp policy)

SW Granite never finished our job 100%. I have some work they promised to do but, after missing a sched appt & ignoring me for 2+ weeks, I assume they aren't coming. They never gave me my extra granite as promised. Too bad I only held back $50. Well... keep the granite Kevin, forget about fixing the tiles your guy damaged, I'll keep my $50, & we are done doing business.

Background: First meeting/estimate. Upon referral, we called Kevin Ham, owner of Southwest granite in Temecula to get a quote for the removal of our existing kitchen countertops and installation of new granite countertops with tiled backsplash. We made an appointment for him to come to our house to give us an estimate. He seemed knowledgably (if a bit haughty) he'll tell you repeatedly how he's been doing this for 29 years and how he does all of Pechanga's granite). One thing my wife and I still laugh about is, while discussing the use of our island overhang, Kevin asked how many kids we have. My wife answers "Two and one on the way". He, very factually, states "Okay, so three". Tip to Kevin: this is where most human beings say to other human beings ?Congratulations!?. ;o) LOL. Ok, so a little cocky and a little socially clumsy doesn't necessarily make for a bad granite and backsplash installation, moving on...

Apr 9: Meet 2 select granite, 1st payment. $200 premium. Wanted bullnose, he tells us its outdated. He chose the demo date w/out checking w/ us. Told him we have a 2pm prenatal appt. No prob, his guys will b there @8 & out w/in 2 hrs. (didn't happen)

Apr 30: Sat before the Mon demo. Kevin didn't come 2 us as said so we visited him 2 get a bath cost to keep on schedule. I had e-mailed pics of the bath but he ignored.  Price jumped $100.  Also, $150 extra 4 plumbing.  He said they would install the faucets, didn't happen. Had 2 remind him demo was Mon, he tried 2 change it 2 Tue & the granite install date from Fri 2 Thu. He "re-agrees" 2 the original dates. Remind him of Dr. appt, no prob, guys will b there @7:30 & out in 2 hrs. (didn't happen)

May 2: Demo. 2 hrs late w/ no explanation. Worked over 4 hrs so we had 2 leave 4 our appt w/ workers in house. No apology or acknowledgment from crew/Kevin. Took my existing faucet away which I said I wanted 2 keep.

    May 6:

Granite install day. I am glad I was there watching carefully because the granite island top was not centered and the under mount kitchen sink was not centered within the granite opening. Both were corrected upon request.

Overall, the granite work is pretty good. I have some minor complaints, thus the B-/A+ letter grade. Like why are two out of four seams perfect and two are jagged? There is a little chip in a few locations. Their cutting tool left a visible scratch where they cut the opening for the cooktop. Within the first week, the caulking has already cracked (I asked once for warranty help with this, nothing happened, I am not asking again). In the bathroom, the granite was cut too short and they filled a 3/8" gap with filler between the edge of the granite and the wall. The holes for the faucets were not drilled back far enough to clear the under mount sink's lip in a few instances, causing me to have build wood "spacers" so I could properly install and tighten the underneath nuts.  So, some minor little flaws here and there but, overall, the granite looks nice.

They left our kitchen and bathroom fairly clean. One guy would hold a shop vac while another guy drilled or cut holes which was nice.

While the install was wrapping up, Kevin called. He told me to write out another check. This time he asked for me to make the check out to him personally, not SW Granite. Kind of odd?

He asked how the granite install was looking. He complimented himself and said he knew it looked good because he inspected it before it left the shop (but how does that ensure a good install?). Then he gloated about how he met our schedule. I did not know sticking to a mutually agreed upon schedule deserves a pat on the back. He then says "We brought you back your kitchen faucet". (which was mistakenly taken in the first place) Then he says "Now you can do something for me" (as if my two $3,000+ checks were not me doing anything for him) and told me he needs me to give him a positive review on Yelp (which is against Yelp policy). What am I supposed to say at this point? The man was not done with my project yet. I had to say yes. Well, Kevin, here's your review - it may not be the review you wanted but it is an honest one.

After granite install, May 7-13: Kevin said would bring backsplash samples. No show no call. 3 more disappointing no-shows. Finally delivered Wed, 3 days b4 install. He told us 2 hurry up & decide. Choices he provided were tumbled, we had told him we want smooth. Went in late 2 work May 12 so I could go pick out the correct tiles. What aggravation.

On May 13, b/c we still hadn't discussed backsplash, I sent Kevin my requests (4" tiles, diagonal, etc). None of this should have been new 2 him but he tried 2 raise my price $200! I refused. He came down 2 $150 & then "Okay, just tip my guy $20" (which I did, & more)

Asked what kind of backsplash edging I could expect & he said I don't get edging & it will look fine.

    May 14:

Backsplash install day 1 (of 2). The 2 tile install guys arrive. One of the first questions the tile installer asks me is "What are you doing for edging?" I told him Kevin told me I don't get edging. He explained to me that edging is a must and it will look unfinished without it. So, off to Home Depot I went to buy my own edging materials. There's $70 out of pocket.

The guys worked all day but did not finish.

The main tile installer is a pretty cool guy. But, to be honest, his work is a tad shoddy. The grout spacing is not always consistent, lines are not always straight, the tiles are not all on the same plain, there are saw cuts in some of the tiles, etc. When you stand back, it all looks really good but, upon close inspection, there are more flaws than I would care for.

    May 20:

Backsplash install day 2. The guys show up early & slept in their truck. Kind of odd.

1 of the installers had 2 leave & return. No license, I had 2 pick him up @ our gate & drive him in. Kind of unusual.

Fairly clean but their wet tile saw left chalky stains in front yard & splatter on cars.

I ended up holding back $50 b/c there was still some final work 2 b done.

The installer & Kevin said they would b back May 28 2 do final work, seal backsplash, deliver (~ 2" x 4") leftover granite. (never happened)

    Week of May 23rd:

I sent Kevin several reminder e-mails to please order a few more pieces of my backsplash travertine tiles for the final repair work scheduled for May 28th and to please bring my leftover piece of granite slab. He ignored my e-mails. So, Fri May 27, I e-mailed one more time asking if he received the tile and if we are still on for the next day. He says the tile is special order and won't be in until next Wed. I wonder if/when he was going to tell me this if I did not ask him first. But what's funny, is Monday May 23rd, my wife and I ordered some tile for our own personal future use and we received ours Fri May 27. So, it seems obvious Kevin did not place his order until it was too late (if he even did at all?). No apology, no suggestion for a new installation date, etc. I asked him when he ordered his tile because we ordered one too and already have it. He replies only with: "That's extremely odd". Lol

I'm done w/ these guys. No positive recommendation
