    My full size washer and dryer are a set installed in a narrow condo space. Replacing the washing machine would also necessitate replacing the dryer so that it could be securely stacked on top of the washer (as designed by Kenmore). They have given me good service and the cost to replace them, if I could even find something that would fit the space was going to be a upwards from $1800. These were not basic machines, they offered multiple settings and combinations. Quality Appliance Repair SF was already working with me on a 3 yr old fridge so I scheduled a diagnostic visit with them. They followed the circuitry and found a suspect part. Incredibly this 18 yr-old Kenmore part was still available. The guys ordered the part and returned when it arrived. It turned out not to be the problem, so I was not charged anything for the visit or the part. The original part was put back in and further diagnostics turned up the motor control module failing. Again this part was still available and was ordered. These two repair men just do not give up and did not at anytime scoff at me for my desire to try and repair something so old. It was the motor control module and the washing machine was working as soon as the new part was installed. This saved me over $1400 and all the headache of finding new machines and the installation process. I must also add that in the diagnostic process they pulled the machines out a little and took the dryer off of the top. What we discovered back there was a disaster of years of lint because the Sears service people had only used duct tape to secure the vent tube to the back of the dryer. Duct tape cannot stand up to 18 years of that kind of heat so the tube was dangling from the back of the dryer, lint was all over the electrical outlet, and inches thick on the floor. I had vent/flue cleaners out several times over the years but this was never discovered. It was a house fire waiting to happen. Maybe a blessing the washer stopped. The QAR SF guys would not leave it until they had secured the aluminum vent tube to the dryer with a locking compression ring. No extra charge. These guys always arrived within my 2-hour appointment window, never left me wondering when they would be back and true to their word that you only pay for the diagnostic visit and any parts used to correct the problem. You will not find better appliance repair service or such reasonable prices anywhere. I live in Sausalito, never an issue for them to cross the bridge. I will never throw their business card away!     Quality Appliance Repair SF was actually the 2nd service I engaged to fix the problem (known to Samsung by the way) since the first service became surly after having to come back because their 1st repair did not work, nor their 2nd attempt. QAR-SF was familiar with this Samsung problem but there were several reasons it could be happening. Over the course of several visits and starting with the most simple procedures they determined that a special hot-wire was needed. They ordered the part and installed it 2 weeks ago. VIOLA! Finally the right fix had been found. I cannot say enough good things about these two gentlemen. I paid only one diagnostic charge and only for the actual part that corrected the problem. They will keep coming back until it gets fixed and are relentless in their pursuit of a correction. Additionally, while one is concluding the diagnosis and putting things back together, the other is already using his cellphone to web-search for availability of parts. You have all the information you need and their expectations to complete the work, before they leave.. They never failed to return my call if I had to leave a message. They always gave me a lay-person's explanation of what they had found and what was not working. They always arrived within the 2-hour window of my appointments. You cannot find better appliance service and extremely reasonable pricing anywhere in the SF Bay Area. I should note that while we were tackling the almost-new fridge, my 18 year-old washing machine stopped working. QAR-SF to the rescue and my review of that is under washing machines. I live in Sausalito and will never, ever throw away their business card. Peg Schadt

    Sam was prompt and he identified and fixed the problem right away. He charged a lot---$70 for the call and $90 for labor for less than 1 hour and a good part of that writing up the invoice.  There was an issue with getting the refrigerator back into the cubby it had sat in.  Apparently the unit required shims on the floor to keep it properly balanced and he was unable to lever it back by himself. I tried to help, but he said we needed an additional person.  He said I would have to call someone to do that. I countered that he was in the major appliance repair business and should have brought someone if this was going to be required. As a woman living alone I would have no way to do this. I reluctantly paid him as I felt I had no choice and he left.  I have a refrigerator in the middle of my kitchen with no idea how I am going to get it back into the appropriate position.
