Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Reviews

"I was avoiding posting this review. But given what happened today, I felt compelled to.
The good:
1. Their designer
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
is awesome. She came out and gave us a bid. She is really good at design, color matching, and choosing things like granite and cabinets, etc. This was our second project with AKB and she shined both times.
2. The quality is pretty good. The granite and cabinets were installed well. I wasn't super happy with the hood installation, but, in general, everything was put together well with one exception. See below.
The bad:
1. We had three project managers on our kitchen remodel.

, then
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
, and then
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
. I liked
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
. He was really nice, seemed to know quite a bit, and was a very good communicator. Of course, the night before the job started I get an email saying we were getting
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
.
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
is older, probably more experienced, knew what he was doing but was a bit cranky in his communications.
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
.. well..
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
wasn't around much. Bad communication, bad follow through, etc. We never knew when they would be on the job after he took over. He'd say he was coming by at a certain time and would not show up, etc. I had to write more than one email to the owner to get
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
to respond after he took over.
2. During the bid process, verbally, they kept saying, "its a small kitchen, we can get it done in three weeks". Of course, in the contract the specify four. Okay, my bad, I didn't read the contract so after I complained that it had gone beyond three weeks they pointed out the part of the contract that said four. Well, it took five.
3. As a corollary to #2, they were very responsive during the demo phase. And as long as their were outstanding progress payments to be made, they were there every day and hitting milestones on time. When the progress payments were done, they were remarkably absent and I had to start calling and emailing to get status, next steps, etc.
4. Little things that they promised to do (that were not in the contract) didn't get done. Texturing some wood and prepping for painting didn't happen. Something they said they would do, I kept asking
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
about, but never got done. No big deal, I can do this myself. But its kind of a let down. Lesson here: Get it all in the contract.
5. Last week (a couple of months or so after completion) we developed a leak under the kitchen sink. I decided to call my plumber to deal with it because I didn't want to wait however long AKB would take to get to dealing with my issue. When I get home today I find my garbage disposal had FALLEN OFF its mount and was lying in a puddle under my sink. Joy. Now I have no way to run water in my kitchen until I can get the disposal REINSTALLED.
I feel like I tried to patient with this company. I really hate complaining. But it seems to me if your paying premium prices for a job that you shouldn't have to deal with the types of issues I described above. Both times I worked with AKB they were the highest bid. I don't mind paying extra, but when I do pay extra I expect high quality and good service and a fair amount of professionalism.
I was hoping to give them my second bathroom to do, but at this point I'll be looking for another provider.

"Our house had a 70's era kitchen - linoleum floors,
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
counters, builder grade cabinets, and 50's vintage wiring.
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
transformed it into a sleek, modern, and very usable space, all for an unexpectedly reasonable price.
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
gave great advice on what was worth spending on and where we could save a bit. He lined us up with beautiful granite countertops that were priced substantially less than anywhere else we looked.
He did a meticulous installation of our new cabinets, dishwasher (he's also a plumber), sink, countertop, and range hood.
The hood was a real challenge and testament to
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
creativity. We have an
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
style house, which makes many renovations a huge pain. Not having attic ruled out an island mount, and a cutout between the kitchen and living room caused all sorts of problems with wall mounting. Most of wall mounted hoods are screwed into the wall at the bottom of the hood - not an option in our case - and are unfinished in the back. We were at a loss.
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
devised and built an ingenious housing on the wall for the hood. Even better, he extended it in such a way that he was able to route the exhaust out the hole used by the pre-existing ventilating fan, and he added an out of the way outlet that we'll use to power some accent lighting. Now that it's finished, the entire assembly looks like a natural part of the house, and we were able to avoid cutting a new hole in the roof for the duct (and paying $700 to a roofer).
He was great about stopping by to address a few minor issues that came up after the installation.
One thing to know about working with
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
: he has strong opinions about the right way to do things, and he's not afraid to share them. It's best to listen to him - the few times we chose not to follow his advice we later regretted it.
He's a stickler for quality, and he's unhappy with work that's not up to standard. When he started working with us, he expressed concerns about the work a flooring contractor had recently done and came off as a bit grumpy. We later discovered (to our chagrin) that he was completely on target.
In hindsight, the one thing we'd have done differently is to have had
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
people do the rewiring of the kitchen as well as the installations. We went with another electrician, as we were having some other electrical work done in the house, and that
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
to all sorts of headaches.
We'll be giving
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
a call when it's time to redo our bathroom!

"I placed an order for their Hendrum toilet a month ago that never arrived. And I simply can't reach them: online support only answers questions about products and doesn't have any order/account information. I asked to forward requests to call me back. They didn't respond to emails, can't get them on the phone, left voice messages - no one ever called me back or replied to my email. My bathroom remodel project is on hold now because of that.. They also hide who the manufacturer is and apparently it is made in China.

"He is excellent! He has done so much work in our house, he is honest, punctual, and if there are any problems with the work he will come right and fix the errors. I have recommended him to family & friends."

"To provide some background, we interviewed several contractors and originally picked a design & build firm to initiate the design process. We had hoped that firm would also be the contractor during the remodel. Unfortunately, due to a poor working relationship, we fired the design & build firm and hired a separate architect to fix and complete the original drawings. Obviously, we also had to hire a new contractor. Because of our negative experience, we interviewed over 20 contractors thoroughly (e.g. visited past construction sites, contacted references, gauged response times) and finally settled on
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
. We hired
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
in September, 2010, and construction began in November, 2010. Construction was completed in
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
, 2011. Before I go any further into detail, I will simply say that we were incredibly impressed by
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
. He was extremely professional, patient, and provided us with a high level of quality. His team worked hard and provided amazing results.

During the demolition portion of the project, he worked quickly and cleanly. Demo was hauled away and the remodel commenced. From start to finish, we always had a positive working relationship with
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
. As to be expected with any major home project, delays and minor issues presented themselves, but
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
was always able to quickly arrive at a solution to fix the issue. Furthermore, we did
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
our patience on more than several occasions due to some construction oversight (which was more often our fault for issues such as not being specific to outlet placement, grout color, etc), but
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
was always patient in working with us and ensured us that he would handle the problem. And every single time, he never disappointed and quite literally, he would save the day. He has a great rapport with all of his subcontractors and team members, and he was always available to us any time of day. In a highly stressful environment for the homeowner,
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
always maintained a steady demeanor and was very easy to work with.

Moving on, his quality of work is exceptional. We have received a myriad of praise for the craftsmanship and the workmanship. The tilework that was done in the bathrooms and kitchen is top notch; the baseboard was evenly installed throughout; the painting is even without spatter. And if the work was not done to our standards,
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
would work with us until we were satisfied (e.g. we had some issues with the staining of the hardwood and
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
gladly re-stained those “problem” areas for us). Also,
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
never used low quality materials (e.g. the support beam was a solid wood beam on the order of 24” x 12” x 15’ and I suspect other contractors might use compressed wood). His painters were amazing, and even after the painting was done,
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
had the painters return to touch up those areas that were damaged/dinged after we had moved back in. His team was also a great to work with and we were able to work with them on minor issues that did not always necessitate
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
’s oversight.

It was our pleasure to work with
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
. He made the difficult task of a major remodel as manageable and stress free as possible (if there ever is such a thing as a stress-free remodel). There are also no
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
costs associated with his original quote. The cost of the remodel ended up falling in line with his original estimate. If something was going to cost extra (and these were normally large ticket items like extensive subfloor damage), he would to inform us of the issue and the cost. He would also immediately notify us of these issues to determine how we might prefer to proceed. Also, he wasn’t shy to share some of his thoughts with us on other items that we hadn’t considered (e.g. running speaker wire through the studs since the walls were open). Without a doubt, we would work with
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
again in the future and recommend him for any major (or minor) projects that a homeowner might have. Without him, I fear that we may have just taken a sledgehammer to the house, set up a tent on the property, and called that home

"They did a superb job. They are design-build. They came up with a wonderful design after I had consulted 2 other architects previously. They came up with something better, fresher and a more original design. They were great to work with. I was on a budget and I’m one of their customers who actually have less money. They usually serve better to do people. They were very cognoscente of my pocket book. I would consider them as people who I would choose as friends. It’s not just a business relationship. They are very nice. I didn’t have a lot of problems. They have a policy of no smoking, no swearing and no music for their sub contractors. Everybody was extremely great with my neighborhood. They didn’t disturb my neighborhood. It was almost a year long process. They are more expensive than other contractors, but everything they do is perfect. I wouldn't have anybody else to work on my house at all. "

"They were good and knew what they were doing. I liked them very much. They were very nice. The owner was articulate and he explained everything very well and clearly. I am out of States and it was not possible for me to write down everything that needed to be done. So, he did everything that he felt was necessary."

"
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
gave us a competitive bid on a fairly comprehensive job. They seemed rather qualified and were helpful with on-the-spot design. After the down-payment things went downhill. The job was actually started 2 months later. After demolition of our entire kitchen, we were essentially left in a construction zone for half a year without appliances or even basic kitchen functionality. CBD did not respond to most phone or email messages. In the end, they tried to rush the job and cut some corners. When they are actually there, they are very friendly. The cabinets look great - but I would most definitively NOT recommend CBD to anyone"

"I can't say enough about the staff at
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
& Bath. They all did an excellent job, start to finish! The new bathroom looks wonderful. We had gotten other estimates and then met with
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
& Bath. They were very detailed about what they could do and good about explaining our options. It was clear from the beginning that this is a professional company and the staff has a lot of experience. The estimate included their recommendations for everything needed including paint and fixtures. It was convenient to go to their shop, get advice on what would work and have them the order parts. The workmen were amazing at cleaning up and careful to protect other areas of the house. I would most definitely hire them again. "

"We could not be any happier with the service we received and mainly the honesty we received as well.
Mountain View Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
(the owner) was always on the job site (unlike most contractors who are rarely there). He was extremely personable and i would recommend him to anyone. "
