"After 20 years and raising 3 boys (you know what that will
do to carpets) we decided to replace the carpet in living room, dining room,
master and guest bedrooms and den with solid oak flooring as well as the
stairway leading to the second story (The Boys Area) of our home in Mountain
View. We had existing hardwood in the entry, a long hall and the family room
that was already solid oak but stained a light color and we wanted to darken it
to match the color we'd selected for the new floors.
We went with solid red oak, (random length)...made in
AMERICA...medium stain. It is outstanding looking. Could be featured in
Architectural Digest.
To further complicate the project, we had a step down living
room that we wanted raised to the level of the balance of the house.
As many of you may know, when a home is built to have
carpeting, contractors don't make any effort to ensure they are level...thus
was the case with us...toss a marble on the uncarpeted sub floor and it would
take 15 minutes to stop rolling...okay, a slight exaggeration, but it was way
off being level.
Mountain View Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
and his team took care of all that. They even rescrewed
all the existing sub flooring to the floor joists (every 6 inches or so....) to
avoid any possibility of future squeaks.
One more complication...we chose to live in the upstairs
portion of the house while all this was going on. I do not recommend this
approach...if you can, move out for the 2-3 weeks....it's noisy and dusty...
We took several bids and analysed them carefully, getting
many references for each.
Muirwood Floors, while not the least expensive, blew us away
with customer reviews, and most importantly the confidence we had in
Mountain View Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
from
the first meeting. We couldn't be happier.
Mountain View Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
came in on budget and on time.
Mountain View Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
and his assistant arrived on time every morning. Extra
crew were added to raise the floor and later to install baseboard...BTW, we had
a professional painter from
Mountain View Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
paint the entire downstairs after the
floors were done and he commented that the quality of flooring and baseboard
installation was the best he'd seen in over 30 years in the business!
Use them again?...in a heart beat.

"The guys showed up each morning within an hour of the time they said they were coming.

lead the group and other guys from their team showed up as needed.

worked quickly and confidently. They answered my questions and told me all about the process of refinishing. They masked off kitchen and wall art with plastic, sanded the floors with a machine and on the edges, by hand. They matched the stain perfectly. The last coat of polyurethane had a lot of debris in it. I called the company to talk about the debris, they sent someone out to take a look. You could tell the guys doing the work really cared that it was done right. They sanded again and recoated. The results were significantly better, still some hair stuck in the floor, but minimal. The floors look great overall. A friend came over and thought I had put in all new floors.
The only thing I would have done differently... my previously white base moldings now have an inch of stain on them from the application of stain on the floor. The rag or sponge must have brushed the moldings around the rooms. Had I known this could happen, I would have asked them to tape off all of the base moldings initially. That would have taken care of it. Now I have to hire someone to repaint them all which is an inconvenience and an expense and I'll have to move the furniture again. My recommendation, tape the base molding at the start of the job.
I have a lot more wood floors in my house. When it is time to refinish those floors, I'd call
Mountain View Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
again first. It is obvious that they care about leaving their clients with beautiful floors.

"We were on a short timeline to move into our new house, and needed to refinish the hardwood floors in two bedrooms. I called
Mountain View Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
and he was able to come give me an estimate the same day.
Mountain View Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
arrived prompty at his scheduled time, and provided us an estimate that was very reasonable. He was also able to start the work the next morning. His crew arrived the next morning on time, and got right to work. He informed us of the process they would take, and his crew was clean and respectful of our home. surprisingly, we really didn't notice much (if any) dust during the work, or even after the job was competed. They came the next day to put on the final finish coat (again, right on time), and the floors turned out beautifully. I would not hesistate to use

again. As a side note, I also called
Mountain View Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
's Hardwood, who is also highly rated on Angie's List, and they gave us a phone estimate that was $500 more and they were not going to be able to start work for another week and a half.

"He is very, very reasonably priced. He was my second contractor for the job. I am so happy with the service and I recommended him to neighbors and friends. They are also very honest individuals which I find very important in a service provider."

"In general we were very pleased with the end result. The contractor that
Mountain View Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
sent out did a good job except for one corner where apparently a small piece broke off. They did a fairly good job of piecing it back together though. Other than that, they were clean and professional. A little high priced but not really too much."

"We contacted them three weeks before Thanksgiving. They did work quickly to try to accommodate our schedule. Refinishing was good, kitchen flooring is much lighter and brighter now. For new hardwood areas, quality of hardwood was not as high (very streaky) and there were follow up problems (lots of putty needed to fill gaps). We also had them take out a closet and put in a new wall which took much longer to finish; I would not recommend their carpentry/electrical. Their schedule was drawn out too long."

"We had
Mountain View Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
patch up the hardwood floors that were involved in the remodel. They had to extend the floors in some area and matched up the inlayed walnut strip. They did a fantastic job. Our GC and friends could not tell where the new floors were. They are honest, competent, nice, and had the best price. There were instances where I wasn't picky (like the area under the refridgerator), but they were and made sure the work was done right. They worked well with our GC and even worked on Saturday & Sunday to meet our move in schedule."

"With only a one week lead time to quote and schedule before we left for vacation,
Mountain View Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
was able to make it happen. The quote was thorough and their pricing was good. Once we accepted, they scheduled to put samples of the stain colors on our floor so we could see how it would look against our existing cabinets. (Our existing floors were white oak, clear finish, 13 year old with wear areas in front of the sink, fridge, from water etc.--although we don't wear shoes in our house, it was time to refinish). Once the stain color was chosen, we packed all our furniture into the carpeted family room, gave them a key, and left on vacation. While we were on vacation for two weeks they completed the work, locked up, and the floor had time to cure. When we returned, the floors looked great! We used the
Mountain View Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
Medium Brown, with a Water-Based "traffic" grade top coats, with a Satin (not-semi-gloss) finish. The water-based was a good choice: no smell, with hardness ratings (for the product they use) higher than oil-based. Excellent work. We were so happy
Mountain View Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
could work with our schedule and timing, and they jumped to make it happen. It was the only time we could have had the floors done for the next year. The whole team was good to work with. We scheduled a follow-up visit to get our key back, un-stick a crawl space panel & floor vents, and a couple touch up spots. It all turned out well. Thanks Again--Great Job.

"I went with
Mountain View Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
based on the Yelp reviews and
my interaction with
Mountain View Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
.
Mountain View Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
was very
responsive in coming out to measure and gave me several detailed quotes as I
worked through which hardwood flooring I wanted. He was very thorough and suggested that he
bring in a box of flooring before ordering the entire amount since the
appearance can change from lot to lot.
The first box of flooring looked nothing like the sample, so without
that step we would have had a huge issue.
It took months for me to find the flooring I wanted, and
Mountain View Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
was the one
who finally found the right thing. The
installers were respectful of my husband and me, our home and our 2
rambunctious cats. I am very happy with
the end result and the quality of the craftsmanship. There were a few dings resulting from the
work and
Mountain View Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
had them taken care of right away.
He even brought over some felt slides for my dining room chairs so they
wouldn’t damage my new floor. I
recommend
Mountain View Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
and
Mountain View Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
with 100% confidence that you will be
thrilled with their services.
