    Mt Shasta Animal Hospital
My Shasta Animal Hospital has absolutely no accountability! Strike 1: I had an appointment scheduled almost a week in advance for my Labrador Retriever because he has been vomiting and when I showed up they had no record of my scheduled appointment. Then they proceeded to blame it on a new computer system they switched over to. Okay, well mistakes happen, I'm willing to accept that. Strike 2: I had scheduled an exam and since I was taking him in anyway I was going to have a teeth cleaning as well to clean the tartar off but that wasn't the main reason for the appointment at all. Well they wouldn't allow me to see the vet but they would gladly give him an exam and clean his teeth for $350+....however I was not able to be there to consult with the vet in person. So that goes to show they care more about taking your money than making the customer happy let alone care about your pet's well being. Vet was apparently too busy to see me but not too busy to give my dog the exam I was there for and do the teeth cleaning. Strike 3: Anyway, I left him there and went home but I called them right back and said not to do anything as I was coming back to pick him up. I confirmed they had not started the procedure yet. After I picked him up and brought him home I realized there was something not right with him. He was dragging his feet and could barely walk without falling over so of course I called them back and asked what they did to him. The technician that answered the phone put the vet on the phone and he told me he gave him a sedative to do blood work which I am just now finding out. They didn't tell when I called them about picking him up and they didn't tell me when I was there in person to pick him up, they waited until I noticed something wrong and had to call to find this out. Of course they blamed it on my dog saying they did it was because he was so scared they weren't able to do the blood work on him. Again no accountability and blaming it on something else which this time instead of the computer system was my own dog. They initially asked me questions such as, if he needs a tooth pulled does the vet have permission to pull it? If he has an ear infection does the vet have permission to treat it? etc. etc. I told them "If anything out of the ordinary or anything that will cost extra money needs to be done I want the vet to call me before proceeding." They agreed. Apparently giving him a sedative wasn't out of the ordinary or extra. My guess is they sedate all animals that are dropped off there just so they don't have a bunch of barking dogs even though my dog doesn't bark and is as friendly as any dog there is. My dog is the dog that would let the burglar in. As I was having the final phone conversation with the vet over the phone and getting nowhere asking him why I was not at least told when I picked him up that he was given the sedative. He said I was aware he started the blood work which I was but he was probably shocked and definitely defensive when I questioned him about blood work involving a tranquilizer. He thought I was dumb enough to not know blood work means only drawing blood for the lab test. Then he told me my dog was so scared he had to sedate him to do the blood work. (Now the back pedaling begins) Only problem with that comment was that he was doing the blood work to find out if it was okay to give him the sedative. So he gave home a sedative to perform blood work to find out if it was okay to sedate him. Makes sense right?! The arrogance and incompetence of this veterinarian is like nothing I've ever experienced before in my life. He finally told me that I was no longer able to take my dog to him. (Clearly because I was smarter than him and didn't fall for his BS) That was a moot point since I'm clearly never going back there again, he didn't have to tell me that. Luckily my experience was just p*** poor service and the only thing my dog experienced was a tranquilizer that put him down for an entire day, but don't be the person that has a worse experience than I did. Take it from Michael K's review on Yelp also who's dog died due to poor service and malpractice. Bad news travels faster than good news, pet owners beware, do not go to Mt. Shasta Animal Hospital....I repeat DO NOT GO TO MT. SHASTA ANIMAL HOSPITAL!!

If she's going to be late, she calls and lets us know. She's caring and cheerful. She's inexpensive and she knows what she's doing.
