    Birch Circle Movers
I picked Birch Circle because I wanted to support a local business, and I thought a small business might be more responsive. I was very disappointed. 1. The cost. They gave me an estimate of 6-7 hours and over the phone without coming to look at the house $1200 insisting that they did not need to come view the house. He actually said it would probably be less based on my accurate description. The actual cost $2100, 75% higher! I can see 25% off, even 33% off, but 75%?
    2. When the crew showed up at the house, the all remarked how well prepared we were. Multiple movers said it would take between 4-5 hours. Everything was in boxes, labeled and ready to go. We've done this before. We informed them ahead of time that there were beds to disassembled and reassembled. I have done both to our beds myself in less time then it took their team of 4 professionals to do it. I assumed as professionals they'd be quicker. (One of the bunk beds wasn't even put back in its original form).
    3. Incompleteness. We were not able to oversee both sites, and left the movers to collect the remaining stuff on their second trip. I went back the next day to find two full car loads of things still left there, things I specifically pointed out were coming with us.
    4. Poor timing/organization. It took two trips. They probably could have taken a load to the house before they took their hour lunch giving us the opportunity to unbox and begin setting up. Or they could have split up, having some unload, while others tried to disassemble the beds.
    5. They were all polite. I'll say that.
There was a lot of wasted time.
I wrote the owner to complain. He responded by phone quickly and apologized for his poor estimate (not t very high cost) and offered me 10% off my next job. When I balked he upped it to 20%. He suggested that I handle the beds, because it took too long for his people.
My wife and I discussed it and asked him to to split the difference between the estimate and and actual cost, and refund us $450. Had he done so, we'd consider using them for moving back (in 6 months). He never responded, not even. 'No'.

I can appreciate that estimates are just that, but (1) they had a chance to visit in person, (2) when they arrived they could have reassessed and let me know a more accurate time/cost, (3) they were very inefficient in the move. They made little attempt to rectify the situation.

They didn't steal from me, they only lost a few parts (bookshelf, tv stand hardware), they didn't break anything, so I'll give them to D, but I won't use them again.

    Birch Circle Movers
The appointment date was within 4 days of my initial contact.  The movers called first and arrived on time.  They did all the requested work efficiently and quickly staying exactly within one hour to save me money.  They assessed what needed to be done first and immediately set to working accomplishing it.

This was a good deal offer of $150 worth of service for $50.  I called on Friday, they arranged the move for Monday.  They were punctual and careful and professional.  The move cost, after the discount, $240 cash for three men.

Arpin Van Lines - Main Street Moving & Storage
Of all the people/companies we interfaced with during a home re-modeling project brought on by damage from a rainstorm, Main Street Moving and Storage were far and away, the easiest, most courteous and professional people we came across. The company promptly returned phone calls, were responsive to emails during weekends, were meticulous in packing and loading and unloading our things. In all aspects, including reviewing the insurance options (slightly complicated) to reviewing the inventory list and photographing or recording the exact location and set up of a few of our pieces of furniture, these guys were stellar. Polite. Asked all the right questions and were just a pleasure to work with. I HIGHLY recommend Main Street Moving.

    Shamrock Moving & Storage Inc
Shamrock movers moved me from San Francisco to Marin.  They boxed almost everything up in the time they said they would and delivered and everything unbroken, on time, and didn't charge me extra for the additional guy they had to put on the job to accomplish that.   The move cost me what they said it would.  I didn't feel nickle and dimed.   While I hope not to move again, I would certainly use them if I had too.  I wouldn't bother quoting out out to compare prices because I trust them with my stuff and they were very professional.

3 Guys arrived promptly when they said they would, on a windy narrow Mill Valley CA road, they got to work immediately and packed everything in 45 minutes flat... HOT D***!! anyway, the unloading took slightly longer at around 1hr-1hr 30min... but that's impressive, even with 3 guys. Nothing was broken, the men were polite and hardworking. We gave them an undisclosed amount for tip, but needless to say it was big. We initially had qualms about the minimum 4hr. charge the company had, but overall we were very impressed by the workers and payed the 4hr. charge plus a huge tip... maybe we're too generous, anyway, they did a GREAT job. Especially since we moved from Los Angeles in January, we didn't want to move again, despite this move being local. The lack of stress and strenuous exercise we saved on the move was priceless... or maybe it was $450, well, it was worth it for us. Great job guys, keep it up.

    Chipman Relocation & Logistics
I was very pleased with the service I received from this company. The crew of four men- one more than promised- were very professional, hardworking, and respectful of all property. In addition, they were efficient and patient on both ends of the move. The company issued me a not-to-exceed quote and honored that figure. They were able to provide all the services I requested and made helpful suggestions both before and after all the items were moved. When I needed to contact the company halfway during the move, someone was available to take my call and answer questions.
