Lawn Care reviews in Menlo Park

Khiem was easy to work with and provided excellent service. Gave honest feedback on where we could save money. Good planning on the sequence of tasks to be done and executed them well. Kept the worksite clean and tidy throughout the project and made sure that the driveway and the walkways were clean at the end of each day. All the members of his team were experts in different areas and took pride in their work. Paid attention to details and quickly fixed any issues or mistakes in my design. Khiem procured all the plants I requested from a good nursery. Patiently installed drip irrigation covering the entire yard including for the ground cover. The drip irrigation was all buried to be invisible. Refused to use sprinklers anywhere even if it was less work. Replanted some of the new Hydrangea bushes from where they had too much sun to a shady area.

    Rogers Landscape Inc.
I was a sub contractor for Andrew on a large project. Andrew is very pleasant to work with and very easy going. He is great at communicating his ideas and any issues that came up were easily resolved and handled. Working for his company, I noted his thorough attention to detail to the work we were doing for him. The clients were very happy with our work and ability to collaborate together to get the project done in a timely and organized fashion. As a sub contractor for Rogers Landscape I would love to collaborate on another project. As far as the other end being a home owner, his client was ecstatic about the final outcome of their project

    Rosa's Maintenance, Inc.
they were here exactly on time.  I walked them around the property and showed them what I wanted done, with a priority of what to do first (in case they ran out of time).  They got EVERYTHING done, much to my amazement.

    About Green Land Care
Vince and his crew were wonderful ? friendly, professional, effective, efficient, and all at a very reasonable rate. Two huge trees were
heavily trimmed and shaped, one smaller tree reduced and reshaped, two very large hedges and assorted shrubs trimmed.  I plan on having Vince do an annual maintenance from now on.

    About Green Land Care
The crew showed up the next day. It was a real warm day, but the guys were moving fast and working hard the entire day.
The pine tree was completely removed and you cannot tell it was there. The large heavy oak branches were trimmed back away from the house better than expected. The hedge was nicely trimmed down 6 feet leaving it neatly at 10 feet tall. All of the trees around the house were pruned.  Several withered plants were removed and the yard was readied for landscaping.
Toward the end of the day I had a few additional smaller requests for the crew and they immediately took care of them.
It was a transformation. The work and effort was outstanding. Everything was picked up and cleaned when they left. The results more than met my expectations.
The owner, Vicenti, is someone I definitely trust. Hes good on his word, he cares about his company and how his crew performs, and mostly he is honest.  He will do what he tells you and he will make sure that his crew performs at a high level of excellence. It also helps that he is just a very happy person willing to work hard and do a good job for people. The work ethic of his crew is also impressive.
Vincenti quoted me a more than fair deal and he came through on his word.
About Green Land Care will give you an extremely reasonable quote and likely much better than their competitors. We looked and considered several others for some time and we could not be happier with our choice. At the very least, I highly recommend that you contact About Green for a quote. If youre looking for quality workmanship at a very reasonable cost, then I think youll be glad you did.
About Green Land Care does professional work and I highly recommend their services.

Unfortunately my experience with Frank was the worst of any contractor I have ever used.  My overall experience was an F, "lousy." Frank is a consummate talker and story teller (I'm sure he will have his own version in response to this review), though to his credit he was willing to go back and forth on work, fees, etc. This was fortunate as we had to continually work out issues given the disastrous quality of the initial work.  Practically every task was done wrong 3-4 times and only through herculean effort did I end up with a passable project, and there are many problems we just couldn't address because the volume of issues was overwhelming and some issues we didn't know at the time.  I've purposely waited to write this review to see how the work has lasted and more issues have come to light.  Some specifics:
Timing.  Frank started the day after we signed the contract but then nothing happened for over 1 week.  It became obvious that he did that to lock us in, and then took his time.  The overall project was over 6 weeks late, of which maybe 1-2 weeks was our fault because we changed plantings and had to wait for the new plants to be delivered.
Design.  Our design was specified by a landscape architect and plant designer so Frank was working from detailed plans.  That said he did have a lot of ideas and I appreciated many of them.  In particular we discussed a planter to separate two patio areas and he did something quite nice, and he suggested some stone trim that worked out well.  But I did find that I had to think carefully about each suggestion b/c many of them were not well thought out.
Jobsite Cleanliness and Management.  When we started I thought it strange that Frank was perhaps the only contractor I've used that didn't post a sign in front of our house.  Three weeks in to the project when, we had a garbage heap in front and trash strewn about I understood why, as I wouldn't have wanted my name associated with such work either.  I spoke to Frank three times about it to no avail.  The last and worst time was the day before Memorial Day weekend (I'll attach pictures if I can) and I called Frank up and chewed him out.  To his credit he had someone out the next day to clean up but as with everything if I hadn't raised a stink it would have continued on and on.  There were many issues of this type because Frank was rarely on the site, maybe once every 4-5 days for an hour or two unless I called him on some problem.
Quality.  The mason that Frank used for our random bluestone was okay and I would give his work a B-, though he struggled with the poor quality bluestone that Frank purchased for the job. The rest of the team was atrocious.  Frank was rarely on site and so the work was invariably done wrong, and Frank continually cut corners on materials.  Some examples from the many problems:
Driveway.  Our driveway  was redone in pavers.  Frank suggested the driveway slope be adjusted to be more gradual near the house because he thought it would look better.  His suggestion sounded reasonable so I agreed.  He told his crew what he wanted, staked it out and then disappeared for several days.  Unfortunately the staking was too high, his crew did what he specified without thinking, and several days later I called him and said I don't think this looks right.  After being told not to worry, I finally convinced him to come out.  He did, agreed and restaked it.  His team laid half the driveway and it became obvious that it would drain back to the house.  They had to rip it up and start over.  This continued in various forms such that the driveway took 4x longer than planned to complete, and the pavers are still not level in several places.
Irrigation.  During the quote phase I noticed that his contract specified "tuning" up the irrigation.  As we were replacing the entire lawn and plantings I asked what this meant, and he said not to worry he would install whatever was necessary.   Well, he did redo all the irrigation lines but, I saw he reused the 15 year old irrigation timer.  When I asked him about it he said that a new one was not included in the quote.  The old one worked for maybe a week or two and then I had to buy another and replace it..  The sprinkler pattern was way off and when I pointed that out to him he gave me a couple of sprinkler nozzles to adjust it myself, until I asked him to do it.   Fast forward, and many of the sprinkler heads are not working because he reused the 15 year old heads as well!  As a result, I'm going to have to swap those out in the near future.
Lawn installation.  I have to guess it was the first time his team had seen sod.  I was traveling but as I found out from my wife the sod was delivered first thing in the morning for immediate installation, as is usual.  But they came late, worked slowly, did half the job, let the sod sit overnight, then finished it the next day.  I returned the following day to find a fairly dry lawn.  I went out to check and discovered they had neglected to turn the irrigation on!  Not surprisingly three areas of the lawn were too dry to recover.  I called Frank and he said not to worry.  Well, the sod didn't recover so he agreed to replace the three areas.  The sod was delivered, and again his team let it sit out overnight before putting it in!  I think it had to be done once more before it finally survived.
Lighting.  Three out of four spotlights no longer work in the front yard ten months after the job was completed.
Planting.  We have had a greater number of plants die than the first time we landscaped, though in fairness I don't know if that is necessarily the result of the installation.  I do think the plant irrigation may be an issue, as our landscape designer had him come back 2-3 times because she wasn't satisfied with it.  I also noted that his crew didn't appear to apply fertilzer when planting, and didn't form a ring around each plant to retain water when first planted, both of which I think are customary.
Cost.  Great quote upfront, any change or addition came in at 2-3x what seemed reasonable.  Frank was willing to discuss and negotiate a reduction.  I think the major problem was that his team worked slowly, so billing by hour was a challenge.
Whew!  This is by far the longest review I've ever written but I hope it is helpful.

He did a very nice job on the work he did for us but he didn’t finish up. I would tell the other members that he does a very good job. If I am going to do more than that I should negotiate cancelling the hours just as same as I would do with anybody. It is $30 an hour in our neighborhood. I have no immediate plans to use him again but I would certainly be acceptable.

I'm not a phone person, and Mr. Hernandez isn't really an email guy, but once we were talking in person there were no problems. When we met he was very clear on what he thought needed to be done (exactly what I asked him since I know very little about lawn care), and during the subsequent visits he has been doing exactly that. All of the dead plants have been removed, the war against the weeds is being won, and my yard went from being a blight of the neighborhood to being one of the nicer ones on the street.

    JDH Garden Services
Overall our experience of working with JDL is good. During the busy summer months, he and his crew seem to be spread thin. But the crew always arrive on the same day each week at around the same time. Do give clear direction on what you need JDL to do for you.
