    Cools Custom Remodeling Inc
We came home from vacation last April and noticed some dark spots on the hardwood floor in our master bedroomnear the wall shared with the master showernot good. After some initial exploration, we found that a malfunctioning shower valve had been leaking into the wall cavity for about 5 years lots of mold, rotted studs, subfloor issues, a shower that needed to be completely replaced, along with hardwood flooring in the bedroom. You would think that it would be relatively easy to find a contractor to do this work, but its not. Many of the people we contacted just said, no, we dont do water damage. Others thought that the job was too small. Others would do it, but wouldnt give a firm quote and wanted to charge an outrageous exploration fee. Enter Cools Custom Remodeling. From the start, they worked to get our business and treated it as a partnership. Yes, they admitted it was a smaller job for them, but they never made us feel that it was any less important. We had an open line of communication and we always knew where things stood. We had a lot of stops, starts, and delays on the job as we were trying to match specific tile (some of it custom-made) and flooring (and did I mention that were sort of super-picky?). They hung in there. If we werent 100% satisfied with something, they came back and worked on it until we were. We moved back into our master suite last weekend and the whole thing looks beautiful just like the disaster never happened. Cools Custom gave us all you can ask for in a contractor: fair prices, good communication, quality workmanship, and willingness to meet expectations. I would recommend them for any job, large or small.

    STUART FLOOR CO
Stuart Flooring is one of the gold standard companies for Hardwood. Very professional and reliable. We are property managers, and cannot afford second tier quality or service, and Stuart delivers what we need every time.

    RM Built

It went much better than I anticipated  The provider developed a good rapport with the city inspectors he was able to schedule inspections very quickly (sometimes over the holidays as well). Whenever we faced any hurdles, he would come up with quick solutions.  For instance, we had an issue with rerouting sewer lateral and the provider found a work around and quickly worked with the city to get the approval and make forward progress.  Being a structural engineer, the provider has a lot of insight into what is needed and what is not structurally and it was very useful to me when the structure was coming up.

Lewis Carpet Cleaners & Floor Care Inc
Lewis Carpet Cleaning sold me service for $99, but as turns out, that was not applicable to my kind of floors.
Then they offered me a cleaning service for $1080.  This is 10 times more expensive, by the way, new tile would cost as much, so why would anyone spend this kind of money on just cleaning?
Just like all other deals I bought at Angie's List, this was a bait and switch.
The most annoying thing is that now I can't get my money back.
Instead of refunding me, provider sent me to Angie's List.
Angie's list won't refund me either, instead they suggest I buy something else.
I am pretty fed up with Angie's List.
They love money too much, can't part with it even though no service is provided for it.
UPDATE: Angie's List issued a refund.

    LUGO HARDWOOD FLOORS
Rafael Lugo did a GREAT job. In addition to leaving us with beautifully refinished floors, he went the extra mile: he moved the furniture out of the five rooms being refinished and moved it all back when the floors were completely dry -- AND put new felt pads on the feet of all the chairs, tables, bed, dressers, etc, before putting the furniture onto the newly refinished floors. He very carefully covered all my doorways, closet doors and cabinets with plastic and tape to keep dust out. His sanding machine has an attached vacuum to capture nearly all of the dust. And at my request, he gave my kitchen butcher block island top a sanding - it looks like new now. Rafael himself and two workers did the job -- I appreciated that the owner is on the job site and doing the work every day along with his crew of two.

    Slaughterbeck Floors Inc
This was our third project with Slaughterbeck Floors and they did an excellent job. The price was lower than I expected and the quality of the installation was really exceptional. Dealing with Joan and Sherry was really easy and even fun. I highly recommend Slaughterbeck Floors.

    HARRELL REMODELING
We picked Harrell Remodeling because of their reputation and philosophy, knowing that they are very expensive. What a disappointment! We ended up spending a shockingly large amount for what we got. The designer assigned to us didn?t seem to like the house or want to spend any time doing design work. He was unwilling to help us define the scope of the work or understand our design style. We ended up picking out most everything ourselves, which was not what we wanted. Not all the repairs were successfully completed?they could not fix a squeaky floor, did not replace a broken fan as specified, and installed new garage side doors that leak in the rain. After various attempts at fixes over seven months we have given up on Harrell to fix doors and to install track lighting that does not produce a large amount of radio interference. There were more problems; this is just a sample. We?ve built three houses in the past and know that there are always problems, but we were very surprised at the extent of the problems and how poorly Harrell performed on our project.

    DG FLOOR COVERINGS INC
Our worry was that the finished stain would not match the dining room floor. We needn't have worried for Francisco did a magnificent job. Dust is usually a problem as well but everything was sealed off and the dust around the rest of the house was minimal.

    Clark's Hardwood Floors
We chose Clark's because they were highly rated on Angies List and they seemed like they could do an excellent job.  They installed completely new hardwood flooring in our newly purchased condo.  From the very beginning, Nancy took her time explaining everything we needed to know about our purchase decision and was very patient and understanding.  With her help we chose to install a very high quality hickory; engineered downstairs for the concrete slab and traditional hardwood for upstairs.  They were very sensitive to making sure that the wood was "conditioned" for our location to make sure we didn't get any cupping.  Their crew had to rip out the old hardwood flooring and carpet and did an excellent job.  Sherry took over from Nancy on the removal and installation and coordination of their work crews and she was a delight to work with.  She made sure the crews showed up on time and schedule and kept me informed of what was going on.  As the installation was being finished, she was very responsive to all of our questions and concerns.  Clark's work crews are all excellent.  They take their time and do it right.  The result is beautiful hickory lightly stained flooring that we love the look of and believe will last a very long time.  You can't go wrong with Clark's.  They are the best!

    Carpeteria
One bathroom went without a hitch. While removing old linoleum from the master bath discovered subfloor damage, which resulted in several weeks delay. Once we told them to go ahead, the second bath was finished in two days.
The carpet came a week later and they completed that work in less than a day.
The workers were professionals and the quality was clear. Would highly recommend again.
