    Unlimited Outdoor Kitchens
Michael took $7000 deposit and refuses to refund, the only reason he gave was "It is non-refunable", "You have a credit with me that can be used by your friends" ... I do not have a non-refundable contract with him. Be aware that although he is doing business as "unlimited outdoor kitchens", he only makes BBQ counter, fireplace, etc. He doesn't do plumbing, electrical, permit, etc nor does he coordinate these activities. Per sub contractors he referred me to, his projects often end up in chaos. I can see that in my project, which is the reason I cancelled my project immediately.

Mr Chimney & Dryer Vents R' Us
They were there on time.  Nice team.
They started by doing a visual on the multiple fireplaces/chimneys on the property.  They informed us that only one needed cleaning.  I really appreciate the honesty.
They were very respectful and clean.

It was a pleasure to work with Mister Chimney's crew because everyone was friendly, polite, professional, on-time and on-budget. Martin Nava, who supervised our project, first visited our house to evaluate the old chimney and inspect the fireplace itself. He diagnosed the problems immediately and gave me a firm price quote. The final price was exactly what his quote was. He did not write up a contract for me to sign before he started the work, and after they started I had a fleeting thought that I should have requested a contract to avoid any possible misunderstandings after the job was done. But in fact, we did it all on a handshake and Mr. Chimney's crew was 100% honest and reliable on the financial details. (However, it is smart to ask for a written contract signed by both parties before any construction work is done on one's house because contractors can place a lien on one's house if they allege that the bill was not paid in full. If one only has a verbal understanding sealed with a handshake, one has no proof of what the original quote was!!!  I knew that...but Martin Nava exuded honesty and confidence and I didn't ask for a contract when he gave me a verbal quote.)
Martin Nava also gave me a completion date that was only a few days into the future. I was wondering if he could really meet such an ambitiously soon date, but in fact, the crew completed the entire project the day before it was promised to me! Wow--how often does that happen?? Really excellent service!!
I wrote all of the details in the previous box under, "What Did The Provider Do?" so it's all up there.
To summarize, I appreciate Angie's List's having helped me find Mister Chimney, and I especially appreciate Mr. Martin Nava and his excellent and hard-working crew of experts for doing our project very well, quickly, and exactly at the price quoted in advance.

    SOD Home Group
We are in the beginning stages of the project, and are impressed thus far with the quality of work. Oren, in particular, is quite good at engaging to make sure that the quality and customer service is there. The workers are exceptionally neat (which has been fantastic since we've been staying during the remodel). We will provide additional details when the project completes, but so far - so good.

    Chimney Clean Company
Scheduled with office. When an issue came up with the schedule, office called well ahead of time and worked to make things right.
Initial visit was to clean ducting, but upon crawling under the house and looking at the duct work, we came to the decision that the ductwork needed to be replaced, in part due to an initial substandard installation.
Worked with the office to reschedule and they showed up on time and finished ahead of schedule.

    Chimney Clean Company
I live in a condominium complex and 2 of my neighbors and myself decided that it was time to get our dryer vents cleaned. I found and quot;Chimney Clean and Carpet Clean Companyand quot; here on Angies's List and thought I'd give them a try since my previous experience with other companies was not very satisfactory. I couldn't have been more pleased. Everyone, including Sheila, who scheduled our appointments for us, to Kit who actually performed the job was very professional and easy to deal with. Kit pulled my dryer out from the wall and cleaned out the duct that goes from the dryer to the wall and then went up on the roof to clean out the rest of the vent. He told me that he cleaned a lot of lint out of my vent which made me happy that I decided to have this done. Now, I can feel safe in my home again!! My neighbors told me how pleased they were as well. We all decided that this is the company we will contact again for vent cleaning.

    United Chimney Inc
The fireplace looks great. United Chimney is a family owned business and Tony takes the lead in the work being done. He is knowledgeable and easy to work with. His crew of workers, including his sons, are professional and friendly. They did the work in the time promised and the price was just as they said. They were on time both days and left the work area clean when they finished. We had no complications or issues during the project. I would use United Chimney again for any work I might need done in the future. We were asked to wait around three weeks before using our fireplace to allow the cement and morter to cure and become stronger.

I used Angie's List recommendation for this dealer. It was really good. They were professional and they came when they said they would. They actually said that it might not be in there. They first asked me to check out with the chimney service because a lot of times when it’s leaking down the chimney it could be the chimney, it doesn't really pay for us to come out and charge you. He said that if he did an estimate it's for free. Then I called the chimney service and they asked from where it was coming from and a couple of more questions and excluded the chimney possibility. Then I went back to him and he himself looked around and he found that it was the flashing and that is why it was coming down the chimney rather than leaking somewhere else along side the house. He got that fixed for us. He quickly gave a pretty accurate estimate and so it was good. The price was not the best, I didn't get cheaper estimates but I actually had something else done recently at the house where I tried to be more economical and I probably shouldn't have done and that way pay for. It wasn't very good we actually had a fireplace installed and they didn't do a good job. I left a long thing about them. I had someone come out and fix it. So since then I kind of go with a middle of the road or middle lower kind of pricing. He fitted in right there. His punctuality was good, he had to reschedule once, but he called to inform us.

    Bay Area Fireplace
The Bay Area Fireplace (BAF) showroom was good, offered a nice variety of fireplace insert options. The sales staff was knowledgeable and helpful both in person and on the phone. Installers did not come for a pre-install inspection as agreed on, but merely called to confirm my hearth and fireplace measurements. Upon arrival on jobsite, the day before Thanksgiving, they found insert was too small for the fireplace opening. We as owners were asked at the last minute for bricks to raise the insert. The workers stacked unsecured bricks together and plonked the insert on top. They used decorative metal facing/trim to hold insert in place and used one large dab of plumber's putty to secure the facing to the brick. When we asked if this method of installation was secure, we were told that "it's always done this way." Our electrician left a low voltage wire available for the fireplace insert fan and starter. But their workers did not connect the wire to the fireplace electrical system and so the heater fan did not work. When we called our electrician to come connect it for us, he was shocked that the insert rested on such a wobbly, unsecured platform that when he partially removed the facing to wire in the fireplace, the stacked bricks shifted and caused the insert to lean to one side. We called BAF to report the problem and ask them to come to fix it. We were told that the staff was too busy to come out until after the new year. Worried about seismic safety issues, we had our own masonry person epoxy the bricks together onto the base of the hearth. After several unpleasant unproductive phone calls to BAF, finally threatening complaints to the Better Business Bureau if they did not resolve the problem before Christmas, they came out to connect the hearth wiring to the low-voltage wire, strap the insert to the raised brick base and properly secure the bronze-toned facing/trip to the front of the fireplace. The insert looks nice and works fine now...but it took us a lot of aggravation, effort and extra expense before the job got done right.

The proprietor himself did the work with a young assistant. Both were exceptionally neat, immediately placing pads over my rugs. They arrived right on time (maybe even a little early) and were extremely pleasant people. I had neglected to have the chimney swept last year, so they really had to work hard and they did so with no complaints. I highly recommend this company.
