    EZ Builders Inc.
Our relationship with EZ builders was on a complete high scale bathroom remodeling that included: closets in both the Master Bathroom and in the master bedroom. We worked primarily with the owner of EZ builders, Jacob, the office manager Lesmi and the project manager Guy. Our experience with this team was above than excellent and they were in the project from the first meeting when we explored our goals and vision through the completion of the remodeling project. All the people that did the actual work were very skilled and knowledgeable. After the remodeling work was completed, we decided to go for the second remodeling project and we have already signed the additional agreement for the kitchen remodeling and the additional 2 bedrooms in our house while we will continue to use EZ builders in the future. Our remodeling bathroom and bedroom came out beautiful and at the end we got everything we wanted and even more than we originally thought we can get for our budget. We attribute all this to EZ builders because at the outset of the work, we had little idea with what could be accomplished, only that what we had was old and not useful. At this moment, we can say that the bathroom and bedroom are really adding a lot of value to our house, but we do not plan going anywhere.

    Finesse Remodeling & Consulting Inc
We interviewed 5 contractors before we made our decision. Most of them were on the Angie?s List with tons of ?A?s. But we chose Finesse Remodeling out of them because Avi, the owner of Finesse, gave us the most reasonable quote and showed us sincere care for us and for our house.
Remodeling your house means that you are going to spend more than a couple of weeks of your life with your contractor and his/her workers. So obviously you want to chose someone who is honest, reliable, sincere, conscientious, nice, kind, clean, punctual, professional, proud of his/her work, treats his/her employee well, got respect from them, respects them, respects you, listens to you thoroughly, explains you well, guides you, comes up with a good solution when there is a problem, notices a tiny flaw or unevenness before you realize, and likes a good laugh. I found Avi was that kind of contractor.
Our kitchen and bathroom had serious mold damages so we needed to do the remodel asap. Our timeline was REALLY tight because of our hectic schedule. We had less than 8 weeks and we had to do everything with in this time period. It includes the planning, designing, and shopping, of course. On top of that we had to do the abatement not only for mold but also lead and asbestos. We even found the termite damage after the abatement! However, Avi and his crew handled everything and delivered it before the deadline, within our budget, and without compromising anything.
The demolition was surprisingly clean. Somehow they contained all the dust and debris within the very site they demolished so the rest of the house was not dusty at all. Actually, I felt it became cleaner than before the demolition. They cleaned them all up afterwards and you knew all the health hazards were gone.
The pluming looked so beautiful that I couldn?t stop feeling sorry that no one could see it after the drywalls were installed.
I felt the same for the paint job. When we moved into this house 3 years ago, we knew the interior walls had been newly painted but we found the job was not our satisfactory. (It was uneven. Splash everywhere. Probably only one coat.) But the Avi?s paint crew was real professional. Even though they knew the most of the walls would be covered by the cabinets (our kitchen is tiny), they prepped, primed, and applied 2 good coats beautifully as if it would be the focal point of the kitchen. I guess the words ?cut corners? are not in their dictionary.
The electric crew was efficient, well organized, and quick. They were quiet and gentle.
The tile guys were also good. I asked them to do a complex pattern using inexpensive tile so that it looked expensive. It required great precision work and the tile guy delivered it. I love the result. Their work added the value so it looks expensive and beautiful.
The flooring guys took an extra time and care for us and they finished it perfectly.
The concrete guys also did an excellent job. They fixed all the issues we had before so we don?t have to worry about water damage anymore.
Since we didn?t have enough time to plan ahead, we had to make various and sundry decisions immediately on the spot. To be honest, we were overwhelmed and recoiled by that. But Avi and Sam, his right-hand man and site manager who always brought good energy to our home, guided us like a good pilot.
We also had Joyce, the kindest and very friendly office manager! She was always on top of the schedule. She was very prompt about scheduling everything so we didn?t waist our precious time.
And Joseph, Avi?s business partner! He made sure the project would keep going on schedule.
So basically we had 4 layers of security nets. Without them, we?d lost and couldn?t have done this remodel in time.
One neighbor visited us after the remodel and she was so surprised to realize how big the project was because it finished in such a short period. Actually, lots of our neighbors liked the way Finesse do the job. So I had to ask Avi to bring his business cards because many wanted to know which contractor we chose.
I heard lots of scary stories about remodeling but I found mine was enjoyable. We thank Avi, Joseph, Sam, Joyce, and the rest of the crew for that. If you are looking for a conscientious contractor who really cares about you and your home, you should definitely give Finesse a call.

    Pristine Construction Inc
We reviewed several companies on Angie's List and met with two.  Nathan from Pristine gave us a great deal more confidence than the other company.  Nathan came to our house and worked out the cabinet, counter, appliance and fixture layouts for all rooms on his laptop.  He had pictures of many previous jobs that showed different styles and colors.  He listened to our prioritization of "must haves", "like to have" and "we are open to suggestions".  His suggestions were all excellent.  His sense of which materials, colors and styles go together is marvelous.  He brought samples to our house and accompanied us to the tile store and the kitchen/bathroom fixtures store to make selections.  When work started, Nathan and his partner Mike were at the house almost every day.  The workers were there everyday, sometimes a couple sometimes several people.  Not only are the workers highly skilled and attentive to details, they are all very pleasant and had some very good suggestions regarding details.  They worked hard and cleaned up at the end of the day.  As with all such major jobs, occasionally things come up during the work.  We could always call and either Nathan or Mike would respond.  The final product is beautiful.  We are pleased with everything about the experience.  Anyone who wants top quality results with high attention to details and service should call Pristine.  We will recommend them to any family, friends or neighbors who are considering remodeling.

    Finesse Remodeling & Consulting Inc
We are - as of 2012 - first time homeowners, and the kitchen remodel we wanted done was our first time using a contractor. So we don't have a great deal of comparison with other contractors, but had heard stories from friends and family about their experiences - both good and bad

We initially interviewed 4 different contractors - two from Angie's List with good ratings and two referred to us by friends who had had work done by them.

Avi Ben Dov - of Finesse Remodeling and Consulting Inc - was out first interview and to be honest, by the time we'd finished we were pretty sure he was 'our guy'. We took the next three interviews as a courtesy, but we had been so impressed with Avi that we notified him as soon as they were over.

For the interview, Avi turned up on time (which some didn't),  and actually listened to what we wanted - without telling us that our taste wasn't refined enough for our neighborhood (one interviewee told us that linoleum or cork floors 'wouldn't look good in Malibu'. As if we care).

Avi also had a quick understanding of what we were looking for - a light, bright, functional kitchen (the opposite of what we had, at that point), and most importantly he was really keen about taking the job. A couple of the interviewees had told us that our kitchen was really 'too small a job' for them to take, so it was very nice to hear Avi explicitly tell us that he really wanted our business and was enthusiastic about doing the project. That pretty much sealed the deal for us!

After our interview, we met up with Avi again the next week to go over the project. He was well prepared, and had a full breakdown of the costs involved, and a schedule that turned out to be absolutely correct.

We knew from the offset it was going to be an expensive job, as we wanted to remove some extraneous walls and open up the room. Sadly, the walls in question were also supporting walls, so we needed to dig concrete pads and install a support beam in the roof to compensate for them. We also wanted to install a new picture window, to allow more light into the house. Avi was very helpful in explaining how it would be done, and adept in thinking up new innovative ways to get round problems.

After the sit-down, Avi was quick to get a complete time schedule and price breakdown to us. We had some budget issues and decided to forgo a few things we had discussed, and Avi was able to quickly send us an amended budget, which suited us all. He was also able to give us contact names and companies in the area we could talk to about the various tile/floor/appliance choices we needed to make.

The work started on time, and was completed - but for a few minor touchups - a week ahead of schedule and on budget!

His teams - the demo and construction guys, the countertop and cabinet teams, the electrical and floor teams - were all courteous, respectful,  good time keepers, reliable and honest - and most importantly did great work! Work was completed on schedule, and if there was a holdup for some reason, we would always be informed of this by the Finesse office well in advance.

In fact, communication with Avi/Finesse was always rapid. If we needed to get hold of someone, a call, text, or email was always responded to that working day - if not within the hour. I know from talking to others who have had construction projects done, that sometimes their contractor will go AWOL for long periods - at no time did we feel that Finesse had forgotten us or that our questions were too small to answer. Avi or Joyce (at the Finesse office) would ring us almost every day during the most active period, just to see how things were going, answer questions and inform us of the next stage.

Work started mid-Feb, and was finished (except for a few minor things) by the end of March. We decided to have some of the cabinets re-done on the cooker peninsula (nothing wrong or defective with them, but the layout did not suit our cooking needs and so we decided to have different ones installed) and these were quickly done and we were given a discount, even though they were not on the original spec. These were finished and installed by the first week of April, so the kitchen was completely finished and ready to use 9 weeks from the initial start of the planning permission process.

The resulting kitchen is awesome - we couldn't be more pleased with it! Its opened up the whole house  - and made what was a small, dark outdated, kitchen, which used space very badly - into a bright, clean, large and functional place that we love using and spending time in.

The color scheme may not be to everyone's taste (apple green countertops, lemon yellow walls and white trim and appliances), but its exactly what we wanted, and everyone who has come to the house after completion has commented on how nice it is, and how good a job Finesse did for us.

We are incredibly pleased with both the speed, cost and professionalism of Finesse, and urge anyone who is searching for a contractor in the area to consider looking into hiring them.

We were impressed by them from start to finish, especially having heard so many horror stories about construction projects from friends and family. None of the dire warnings they gave, came true with Finesse! We are looking to remodel our bathrooms in the future, and Finesse will be our first port of call when the time comes to do them.

    Metro Builders & Remodeling
We have worked with Metro Builders and Remodeling on several projects in our house in Malibu over the last 7 years ranging from a 5 bath rooms remodel, kitchen, windows and doors, roofing & paint the exterior. Our first project was a one bath room remodel a 7 years ago. The work was performed while we were working and living in the house, and Metro Builders took great care to make sure everything is perfect, The work was finished beautifully, on time and on budget in just a two weeks. In 2010 we began a complete kitchen renovation , plus exterior land/hard scape, fencing and a high tech security system. Metro Builders team were consummate professionals interacting not only with us but also our neighbors next to the property. everything was done including plumbing, custom Marble slabs install in the shower and on the walls, electrical wiring, 5 bathrooms and bedrooms were completely redone. We added central HVAC, surround sound wiring, redid the floors, the windows and brought the framing up to code. When we encountered problems with City inspectors requesting changes to our original scope, Metro Builders worked diligently to ensure that the disruption to our project was minimal. Our project manager developed a solid relationship with inspectors, planning departments, engineers and the building department in Malibu, critical in a project of this scope. Every trade that Metro Builders brought to our job site did a fantastic job and exceeded our expectations. Whether it was the tile or marble guys & plumbers for 5 bathrooms. we replaced the sewer line *before* putting the new pavers in on top, everyone worked together to make sure things were done right, in the most efficient order, and in the most cost effective way. After we completed the interior, we moved on to bring a new look to the exterior of the property. With new windows and doors and paint of the exterior,  the challenges of working within people's schedules and 4 legged friends can be challenging. We've never had a single issue, in fact many members of the Metro Builders team have gone above and beyond helping  with every little "While you're here can you look at this little thing" or "Hey I broke my bedroom door can you help me replace it?" As a landlord it's incredibly helpful to have a contractor who is willing to be part of the daily solution. As the exteriors came together, Metro Builders brought in the most beautiful paving stones, and an amazing crew to install them in 90+ degree heat. The custom fabricated fences that came after that were beautiful and met our design concept perfectly. The security & camera system installed covers every inch of the property and gives us a great peace of mind. Communication and the ability to solve problems as they arise are the key to any successful project. Ours was no exception. With daily updates and weekly scheduling, we always had a very clear picture of what was being done, when, by whom, and how that piece fit into the scope. When the power company delayed us for nearly two weeks last year during the rains, or our showers failed to ship from the suppler and and arrived 2 weeks late, consistent communication between our two teams made sure we lost no time. We have another property in Malibu and we are going to start a major complete renovation this coming summer, We already contacted Metro Builders and Remodeling to start ordering all necessary materials. In my 24 years of property ownership and management, I have worked with many different contractors, large and small, easy to impossible. Our Successes with Metro Builders outshine the rest by far. Everyone from the owner of the company down to the painters on my house and everyone in between has delivered excellent quality of work and been a pleasure to work with. I'd recommend them to anyone. THANK YOU METRO BUILDERS AND REMODELING (^_^)

    RJ Laun Construction
As the designer for an extensive remodel for a hillside home in
Silverlake, I worked with Robert Laun and his company for a period of
just a few months.  I found him to be very knowledgeable in all areas of
construction (we laid new footings, placed beams and shear walls, added
sliding accordion doors, matched wood flooring, full hvac, new plumbing
and elec., etc.)  He was timely and always very professional.  He also
was amicable to suggestions on ways to lower cost or increase the speed
of the project (this project in particular was on a very short
timeline.)  The project seems to have come off without a hitch and looks
great.  I'd recommend him in the future.  If you have any questions,
feel free to contact me at chris @

    Nexxus Remodeling Inc
I hired Tony Panterra for what was supposed to initially be interior painting of 1 Bedroom. As it turned out, he showed up and talked us into remodeling one of our bathrooms. We also hired him to rewire the entire house for electrical. Install ceiling fans and recess lighting, Rewire Electrical boxes to even out the electrical load which was clearly a fire hazard, and he painted one of the bedrooms too.

He did an outstanding much so that we asked him to do the other bathroom before he had even finished the first bathroom! He helped me select tile, plumbing and made some recommendations which I was surprised I hadn't thought of first (being that I'm a girl and all...! lol). Tony is transparent, predictable, and dependable. He clearly was very involved in every project...from beginning to end. I first felt a little scared...trusting someone I didn't know...but he was managing the projects so well that I actually went out of town and didn't feel like I needed to worry...and I didn't....He got everything done beautifully and on time. He also made sure the contractors cleaned up after themselves. Even when the bathrooms were demolished down to the studs, the bathroom didn't look all that bad because they really stayed on top of the cleanup.

This is clearly one of the best construction experiences I've ever had. Wish he could come out to NC and do my vacation house!

Fyi...this guy is not cheap. Don't call him for a $3,000 remodel. He wont return your call. This guy is high end..and does high end jobs. He's not expensive...but he's not cheap either... He is what I'd call a Moderate cost contractor. Expect to pay...but you'll also see some incredible work done for your buck.

I would highly recommend him and am thinking about bringing him back to redo our 3rd bathroom.

Jon had a varied and long list of projects to fix/build in our home. He worked independently and got everything done that he said he would finish in the two day period. (Some projects we have to wait for additional products, replacements from manufacturer, etc.) Everything was cleaned up and terrific at the end. The work was great. He even found things that were not on the list and fixed those too. Would recommend to anyone and will use again.
