    Richard S White Maintenance
Richard confirmed several days ahead and arrived right on time. He immediately started to work and the list of over 50 items and checked those off over three appointments. He is very articulate and can explain with ease exactly what he is planning. We kept finding more things to fix and he has continued to assist us including fixing a fence that required some very innovative thinking when a tree pushed it out of place. Not only is he very smart and also pleasant to work with he finds and recommends fixes that make our lives better. He receives our highest recommendation for quality work and innovation. You will need to book ahead as he is in demand.

I removed a hard to operate Weiser deadbolt lock and took it their place of business for service. It would have been difficult to find a replacement lock that would fit on this door, so I wanted this one repaired. A gentleman worked on the lock for a good part of an hour doing a difficult repair, and got the lock operating smoothly. The service charge was very reasonable.

He said it'd be $125 to just come out and look at the door. If he had to do more work, it'd be more expensive. I called another locksmith who said I could fix the problem myself with some WD-40, and I did in less than a minute.

    First Lock and Security
I have a 25 year old Baldwin mortise front door lock and wanted to have it serviced rather than replace.   I called Gary at First Lock and Security and he was able to come the following day.  The other locksmiths I called could not come so soon and timing was important to me.  Gary arrived right on time and did a great job on my old lock.  While at my house, I asked him to take a look at a loose patio door handle that no one else had been able to fix.  He knew exactly how to correct the problem, ordered the part for me and came back a few days later to install.  I could not have asked for a more helpful and knowledgeable locksmith.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was fine. It was hard to schedule at first but he came out and it was fine. He called when he was running late. I remember I asked him to match the key of the garage door to my front door and he said it couldn't be done which I thought was odd. It should have been able to be done, he's a locksmith after all and I was willing if I would pay extra for it. He didn't seem that interested in doing extra work other than what the deal offered. It would have been a lot more convenient to me just to have him do it while he was there.

Locksmith arrived 30 minutes late, beyond a 4-hour window, but he called at the close of the window to let me know that he was on his way.
The locksmith was told that at the time of scheduling that the job was to rekey one lock, a task that I estimated at 15 minutes.  The locksmith never mentioned that his policy is to charge for 1 hour of labor, minimum.  Also, Angie's List should include this information on the coupon, rather than presenting it on a separate page. The coupon mentions only that there is a separate charge for parts and accessories.  Labor is a big omission, yes?   Since this was a non-urgent job, I probably would have waited until there was addtional work to warrant the labor charge.  Or I would have removed the doorknob myself and taken it to a local locksmith.  The rekeying took 10 minutes, and I unexpectedly was charged $65, which apparently is discounted from $95.
This locksmith claims that his company does not receive any of the $19.99 that is collected by Angie's List for the Service Call coupon.

Very satisfied. Sean was punctual, called me before heading to the house (as we had discussed) so I did not spend too much time waiting. Workmanship looks good, cleaned up any debris from chiseling the door.

THE EXPERIENCE WAS UNPLEASANT. WHILE THE LOCKSMITH KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING--THE ANDERSEN REPRESENTATIVE LATER CONFIRMED HIS FINDING OF WHAT WAS BROKEN--I THINK HE SHOULD HAVE ASKED WHAT KIND OF LOCK WE HAD AND WARNED US ABOUT HIS INABILITY TO SERVICE ANDERSEN LOCKS BEFORE COMING TO OUR HOUSE. I ALSO BELIEVE THAT HE OVERCHARGED US SINCE HIS INVOICE CONTAINED NOT ONLY A $35 SERVICE CALL FEE, BUT ALSO A $30 LABOR CHARGE. IN THE INTEREST OF GOOD CUSTOMER RELATIONS, HE SHOULD HAVE CHARGED ONLY THE $35 SERVICE CALL FEE.

    Kwik Key Lock & Safe
THEY ARE COURTEOUS AND SERVICE WAS QUICK. THE LOCK WAS RE-KEYED IN JUST A FEW MINUTES. I CHECKED THE COST AT QUITE A FEW PLACES AND KWIK KEY LOCK IS BY FAR THE CHEAPEST. I HAVE USED THEIR SERVICE BEFORE AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN HAPPY WITH THEIR SERVICE.
