Babylon Builders - Home & Landscape Contractor
It went great! What was once just dirt and weeds is now beautiful land and hardscape! Roney was very responsive to our requests and ideas and quickly came back with a design we were exited to get implemented. Within a few days a full crew was on-site to start the work. As the work started there were a few areas where his foreman Juan recommended modifications. These modifications were very positive and above and beyond the original agreement and at no additional cost to us, which made my husband very happy! Those included replacement of 3 steps to our deck from wood to concrete, increased length of the sidewalk, improved fencing beyond the original design, some additional irrigation work and fixing the base of another set of stairs to regulation height by adding flagstone. Juan had great vision for how to make these changes so the outcome went from beautiful to outstanding! And the crown jewel of this whole project is a custom, unique fire pit that I found only as a picture from the internet. Juan pulled this off with no formal instructions, just a solitary picture and his own creativity! We could not be happier and certainly recommend Babylon Garden Landscaping.

When receiving a quote, we were ensured that if our older house had lead paint, he could work with it safely. However during the work, he did not put tarps down or clean up paint chips as requested, he violated lead safety regulations by dry sanding, and he caused over $20,000 in environmental damage that we are still working on cleaning up a year later. Not only was his paint job sub-par, but he left us with a dangerous environment for our new baby.

    Joe Atler Painting
I could not have asked for it to go better. There were several people there working every weekday until the job was completed. Everything I asked to be done was done and extremely well. At the end of the job the company owner (Joe) did a quality control inspection and areas that were even slightly lacking were gone over again. Joe told me to look around and if I saw anything they would come back and take care of it. He even left me some touch up paint in case I need it in the future for something that I may do with the house. I could not be happier with the job Joe Atler Painting did.

He then came to my house after telling me to call him in a month (unannounced) looked at my house then called me back and asked me what color I wanted because he needed to know how many coats going to have to put on the house. Every other house painter I spoke to did not ask questions nor did they tell me.

Freedom Fence & Construction Co Inc
The short version: prompt response, competitive price, outstanding professionalism in the finished product. The details: despite being swamped with work due to the January-February 2017 storms, Mike Hammons from Freedom Fence was able to visit us within a few days of the initial call. I was seeking to replace our 18-year old cedar fence, originally built with 8-inch pickets (vertical fence boards), that mostly blew over in the wind due rot at the base of the old wood posts. Mike contacted me by email soon thereafter with a bid that was well above the budget agreed to by my neighbor and myself. I replied with a request for some way to trim the price if possible, and Mike said a substantial reduction was possible by changing to 6-inch redwood pickets, which Mike suggested would actually be superior to 8-inch cedar. I agreed and the construction date was set for 4 weeks out--the best that could be done given the ongoing nasty weather. Installers John and Stefan arrived as scheduled and simply stated, the redwood fence and gate installation they created was amazing; outstanding in every regard--beyond expectations.

It did not go well.  I was quoted $800.00 to build the fence and a door for my basement. This price included materials.  He requested a deposit of $450.00 to get started and pay for materials. The job was never started, and he is refusing to refund the deposit given.

she came and looked at the house, told us what they would do. We didn't set up a date at that time Yesterday I got an email on what the charge would be for extra stuff that needed done. I would definitely use this provider in the future

They arrived bright and early, as scheduled, and removed all of the old fence.  They put in new cement with the posts, used quality wood and hardware products, got the job done fast, and cleaned everything up before they left.  The fence is sturdy and looks good.

Provider was unavailable when I initially needed work done.  I understood because of the circumstances but then as the coupon was closer to the end date he just never responded to any inquiries about scheduling work.  Did not respond to repeated emails or Phone message.  This was a Total rip off.  I would not recommend using this contractor EVER and would definitely not recommmend buying one of ANGIE LIST "DEALS"

    Top Quality Painting
First let me say that I bought a big deal from Angies List  for 999 for a weeks worth of a painter.  I wouldn't recommend doing that and wouldn't buy another one.  The reason is that after the value was used up I was paying for painters by the hour. Which by the end of the job I just wanted these guys off the property as soon as possible - which helped along some of the negative outcomes I'll list below.  Next time instead of buying a big deal,  I will get  bids from several companies and go with the one I like best.   Or if I bought a big deal I'd negotiate a fixed balance on the job and not agree to pay by the hour.
As for the job itself here are my issues:
    1) Nathan said the job would take x number of hours.  It actually took them 5 hours longer.  5 hours x 4 guys x $35 is an extra $700 I didn't plan for.
     2) Preparation was poor,  flaky paint not scraped off,  mud wasp nests not removed ( and painted over) I asked for one spot to be caulked at least 3 times, it finally was only to be immediately painted over, not allowing the caulk to dry.
    3) Painting was rushed. Again part of the problem induced by paying by the hour.  If I had been paying by the job I would have insisted that they allow the first coat to completely dry before applying the second, instead it was still tacky.  Overspray was widespread: on the ground, door handles,  electrical plugs,  fence, on the deck, windows.   In a job this size I would expect some, but not as much as I found.   I've also had to go over and recoat several areas that needed more paint.   I also want to mention that they were not kind to the landscaping close to the house, lots of broken branches.
    4) Clean up was poor.  Some of the decorative rocks I asked them to be sure they protected, got painted - some of these rocks they cleaned up (the ones I saw).  When I wasn't looking they threw the rest of the rocks that got painted into the ivy.  They completely forgot to remove tape and plastic from one of the windows. After two weeks I was still finding paper, bits of tape, tubes of caulk.  In the area they were working I cleaned up several soft drink bottles and wrappers.  And curiously there was a little bit of aluminum foil stuffed in the fence where they had been hanging out - the cop said it was either crystal meth or sugar, he refused to test it so we'll never know for sure.  Whatever it was I'm glad I found it before my son did.   As I mentioned I was anxious to get rid of these guys so I didn't insist that they clean up more - as that would have cost me more money.
