Ratings and Reviews for Alere Inc
Review: Medical Supply Store Service
I had to call Alere twice before a nurse came to me and brought an INR Home Monitor and she taught me how to use everything so this appointment went very well and the Nurse was very friendly and knowledgeable.
It started after I called this company and asked if they are contracted with my Insurance (Tricare Prime) since I had 2 Blood Clots in my leg and I in my lung and I have to be for life on Coumadin Blood thinner). So since Alere told me they take my insurance my PCP wrote a prescription and faxed it over to Alere after me calling a couple of times I spoke to a gentlemen in Benefit department and he explained to me that my insurance will cover everything and I am allowed 6 or 12 strips a month and when I need any more strips or needles etc. to call Alere and they would send it to me. Well when I still had about 4 strips left I called and ordered new strips and the lady stated they would ship it out. I waited about 2 weeks and called Alere back because I was short on my strips and I really need to keep up with monitoring my INR (Blood results if they are to high its bad and if they to low it's bad because you can develop another Blood clot). Well I was told that Alere is not contracted with my insurance and I have to call Edgepark a company who is supposedly contracted with my insurance. I asked the what to do and why nobody called or told me when I placed the order that my insurance is not contracted and why would they even service me in the first place? All she said is that they made a mistake and I need to send the Monitor back, since I could not believe what I just heard I called back and spoke to a gentleman named Carlos he stated I don't need to sen the Monitor back and he would send me a complimentary box of strips until Edgepark would call me and he would send the paperwork over to Edgepark and I will be contacted.I waited again and no strips showed up and Edgepark did NOT call me either so I called Alere again and spoke to Stephanie and she told me yes some strips have been send out but by mistake they were send to Edgepark and not to my address, now please understand that whole time I am so scared because I have to measure my blood results I have nobody giving me an answer about what is going on I don't know how to get those strips it is just terrible how anybody can do that to their patient's. There is just so much more to write but let me tell you it is still not resolved I checked Amazon and they sell those strips so I ordered them out of my pocket. I asked for a supervisor to please call me back but nobody did.
I believe a company like this should not serve patients with those kinds of conditions.
