    Attic Insulation Labs
I hired AIL to replace my old insulation. Like others noted here, they did a very clean, quick and thorough job. Im giving them the great review not only because of their good service but also since during the work, out of his own personal knowledge, one of their workers Jose told me that some of the electrical wires running through the attic have been chewed down by rats, are in a very bad condition and might spark a fire. I had an electrician come over, inspect it and he pretty much said that Jose saved my house. He said the wires were in such bad condition that they couldve heat up caught a fire at any given time. Thank you Jose and thank you AIL for the really good work you did on my attic.

Very well. Joe and his team were very respectful and always provided us with quick/easy to understand responses to our questions. He also installed a couple of vents for us at no extra cost. He's been over once to turn on the furnace after the gas company turned off the gas to fix a leak. Came by within an hour of calling and out within minutes!

Very poorly! I cannot attest to the quality of service this company provides: however, I can say their customer service is quite lacking. I called this company on a Monday morning to request a service call on my leaking mini split unit. Initially, they offered a same-day appointment. They never showed for this appointment and when I called the next day, said they had called to reschedule but I had missed their call. Although no such call appeared on my call log, I have the the benefit of the doubt and rescheduled for that afternoon. I later received a call requesting they push the appointment back to the evening. I accommodated and no one showed up. I realize I should have at that point sought another company, but unwisely, I called back the following morning. When I called back, the owner answered and proceeded to blame his secretary for all my scheduling issues. He scheduled yet another appointment for 5:30 that evening. At 7:00 o'clock, the the technician showed up. He quickly identify the problem-- the system was installed too level for the condensation to drain properly. The cost for slightly tilting my AC unit? $695! Of course this seemed absurd and I declined, but was left paying the $85 diagnostic fee they charged. I have since been told by two other companies that this quote seems 2-3 times what the cost of the repair should be. One speculated that perhaps the company gave an unreasonably high price, knowing that I wouldn't pay so they could pocket an easy $85 and free up time for more lucrative jobs. Needles to say, I feel like a chump For pay $85 to get blown off several times and then named a ridiculous price for a pretty simple repair.

The project went very well and very quickly. He installed the new motor expertly and the new motor works much better than the old one. It can be very difficult to find someone to do such specialty work and this was literally life and death for the animals I keep. He came out right away after my call and is a nice, courteous guy with a lot of experience. He even came out on a Sunday to do the work!

Inspection and tune up went well.  Also got a diagnosis of future potential issues given the age and condition of the system and advice on changing parts or replacing system down the line. The technician also provided information about government tax rebates on energy efficient units.

    Top AC Inc
TOP AC was great.  Very knowledgable and on time.  Installed new American Standard unit for the home as well as condenser under the home attached to my existing central heat system.
When I later discovered the air was not blowing that cold throughout the upstairs, they came back and installed dampers on the existing ducting for only the price of parts so that we could use a little less air downstairs so that the upstairs could get cool.
Very professional and courteous.  Very quick to get back to you with any questions or concerns you might have.  I have an older Victorian home that has been recently re done and updated.  Top AC was the perfect choice for new AC install in my home.  Can't imagine the summer without my new AC.  They even installed on a Saturday.  Great guys.

They never really fixed the issue with this. It still leaks, but not as much as it did. The work was not done to the quality we paid for. They did come out 1 time after they did the work. The worker that came out had an attitude. Some of the leaks were fixed with new sealant. They guaranteed the work for a year and haven't ended up guaranteeing this. They still haven't responded back to us here.

Jason was prompt and professional from start to finish. In fact, he responded to my initial inquiry within an hour, and all of our interactions went pretty much the same way. We had a lot of questions - both during and after our meeting - and he seemed happy to answer all of them, and also knowledgeable in his answers. His followup was excellent and he was patient in addressing new issues as they came up. He was willing to hear our input and flexible in trying to give us what we needed. Plus we felt he was very straightforward in his recommendations and that he was considering our best interest and not trying to "sell" us. His final quoted price was fair for all that was included, right in line with the other contractors we talked to. It was really hard for us to make a decision because we had multiple bids from contractors who all seem really great. In the end we didn't choose to go with Jason, but it was certainly not due to any negative experience we had with him. I would definitely consider working with him on another project.

    AGA Construction Inc
Overall they were very prompt, professional and considerate. At our meeting, Ariel took time to thoroughly check all the work we wanted done. He made good suggestions and asked pertinent questions. On the office side, Tami had excellent followup - coordinating the appointment, the proposal and the questions that followed. They sent the bid to us when they said they would, and their price was right in line with the other contractors who bid on the job. In fact, since we had found all the contractors on Angie's List, they all seemed excellent and it was really hard to make a decision! We have a hillside house on stilts, so any external work has special access considerations - scaffolding is required for pretty much anything that needs to be done on the outside. AGA felt it would be best if we provided our own scaffolding. In the end we went with another contractor who was wiling to provide the scaffolding as part of the job, but I would certainly consider AGA for future projects.

    JW Heating and Air
All of our A/C ducts are exposed because our house is on stilts. We thought we heard a bird in the vent, so we called our regular A/C service company to take a look. The service tech said that yes, we had a bird in the vent and it would cost $950 to cut the duct, get the bird out and replace the contaminated duct. This seemed very expensive so we called JW Heating & Air to get a second opinion and quote. Our appointment was set for between 12 and 3 pm, but with the understanding that the technician would call when he was actually on the way. The technician, Yurik, was delayed by the previous job and didn't get to our house until almost 5 pm - but it was no big deal since I was waiting for his call anyway. He checked all the ducts very carefully and thoroughly, taking the attitude that he had to see a way something could access the duct before he would recommend any repairs. He didn't find anything. In the end, he recommended that we put some caulk around the ducts where they join with the registers, in order to seal out noise and dirt. He said there was no bird, and if he was wrong we would know in three days because the bird would be dead and the smell would clue us in. That never happened so I guess he was right. We spent $100 for a service call instead of $950 on a repair that wasn't needed. I was really impressed with his thoroughness and honesty and we plan to use this company for all our future service.
