Goodman Heating & Cooling & Appliance Repair
This may seem an odd review because services were not performed connected to this review, but I must submit this to attest to the extremely high level of professionalism, expertise, and fairness Barry Goodman gives in his work. He is responsive, knowledgeable, and has a clear concern for the well-being of his clients. He also is very fair and honest with the money aspect. I have used Barry in the past and referred him on two occasions to friends who found themselves in a daunting situation with their HVAC system. He was consistently quick to respond and able to do the job before anyone else was able to get to them. And he takes such pride in his work, the quality is the highest level. He also is very pleasant to work with and has the ability to explain what is happening in clear, understandable terms. Both friends I referred him to were effusive in their thanks to me and were overwhelmingly pleased with Barry's work. I cannot recommend him and his company highly enough.

    Universal Appliance Service Inc
He said he would arrive between 9 and 12 noon.  He arrived about 11:30am.  I told him the oven would not come on.  He took a look at the oven and told me he had to go get the part to fix the oven and he would be back around 2pm.  He arrived around that time and  replaced the part.  It took him only about15 minutes to replace the part.

He was very polite and efficient.  I will use his service again, and give him referrals.

    SOLIS APPLIANCES
This was the most painless household repair I've ever had.  I called Solis at about 11AM yesterday, Jorge called me back within the hour, I told him the machine stops dead at the spin cycle, he was over to the house by 2 or so, diagnosed the problem immediately, had the part in his truck, took the machine apart, installed the part, put it back together and was done in 20 minutes.  He gave me some tips on cleaning the machine (the old water had been sitting in it for a few days and it was kind of disgusting).  He didn't try to upsell me on anything, he was cheerful, great sense of humor, fast and efficient.  And he gave me a $10 Angie's List discount.
In hindsight, my only potential gripe would be the cost since after he left I did a google search and it's only a $25 part.  But for the additional $100 I got the service call, the diagnosis, the installation and the time saved doing it myself.  I'd say it was a fair exchange and I'll definitely call Jorge the next time I need work on a major appliance.

    Paul's Washer & Dryer Repair
Dave called me the same Tuesday morning after I texted their number.  He was acquainted with my washer type and seemed to be an expert in washers and dryers in general. He was able to give me some possible scenarios as to why the washer stopped spinning. We texted back and forth that evening and he agreed to come out the next day per my wishes. He gave me a general time of between 1 and 2 Wednesday afternoon, but I got a text later that he was running behind and could not make it until 4 pm. He asked me if he had mentioned that even if he could not fix it right then and there the service call would be $75.00. He had not, but I do not think this was a "gotcha" as the service had not yet been provided and  I truly believe he forgot.  He arrived @ 4 pm and was able to quickly diagnose that I had a faulty door lock. It just so happened that he had a new one on his truck that fit my machine. He swapped it out, and stayed and ran through a few cycles to ensure that they were running properly. He left the faulty lock mechanism with me.  He asked me to run a couple of full loads in order to insure that it was truly fixed to my satisfaction.
Elapsed time from arrival to departure - probably 1.5 hours.
Dave was personable, conversant and did not waste any time. I would highly recommend him again.   Before I  connected with Paul's W &D repair, I had reached out to a different provider that could not accommodate me as quickly.  Dave happened to be friends with this provider (someone else on this site) and offered to call him to say that he had taken care my appointment. I appreciated that, and I confirmed that this did, in fact, occur.

    Lerman Appliances
They did have to come out twice to fix the problem. and that was annoying - so that's why they get a B instead of A. But more important they did return quickly, ID'd the problem and provided an equitable solution. It's been a year and they definitely fixed the problem.

He said it was pretty sure that it was the timer that was broken. He had to order the timer. He came out on Tuesday. He said he could get the timer the next day. He came back on Thursday and my dryer was working. They were terrific. They guy was terrific. I was very pleased. Michael was very thorough. He was excellent. He came exactly when he said he would. he was right on time. I would give them all A's. He did an outstanding job. I would absolutely use them in the future.

    Carlos Herrera Plumbing
It went very well. Carlos was on time and very knowledgeable. He completed the 1st job with 45 minutes and explained to me what items not to put in the garbage disposal. The price was fair and he cleaned up any mess that he made. The following week I had a flood in the basement of my home and was told my insurance company that the water had to be removed so they could assess the problem. I called Carlos and asked if he could do the job. after a discussion of my problem, we set a appointment for the following morning. Again he was on time and did a great job. I would strongly recommend him to any of my friends.

    Around The Clock Appliance Repair
Dishwasher still not working. The repairman thought it was minor repair and fixed what he thought was issue. He left, I used the dishwasher and water was on the floor. I had to call him back. It appears it was the motor and not a minor problem. he was courteous and prompt but the washer was not fixed.

    Around The Clock Appliance Repair
I had already figured out that the bearing had gone bad on my front-loader washer, but because it would sometimes still work properly and before I committed to buying new machine, I called them to confirm my diagnosis. They arrived on time and confirmed in fact that the bearing was shot and basically my machine would need to be replaced (the repair would be in the $600-700 range).  I would use them again if the need arises.

    Local Appliance Repair
The technician came in the allotted window, listened to the dishwasher, looked at the dishwasher, and diagnosed the problem (it was a clogged filter).  Took less than half an hour, and while he was there, he replaced the silver thing on the sink that covers the dishwasher pipe (I've forgotten its name).
