    modern stones usa
My daughter hired Nick and his Modern Stones and Flooring crew to do flooring at a home that she's renovating. My daughter had to call him several times to come back to finish the work, and he failed to show up after telling her that he would. Nick or someone on his crew totally messed up double doors that he or someone in his crew re-installed after finally finishing the flooring. The door was cut 2" short on the bottom of one door, and an inch or so too short on the top of the other door. (See photo.) One hinge wasn't replaced, and one hinge had a nail as a hinge pin. His crew also left dirty hand prints and marks on newly painted walls throughout the house. Nick lied to my daughter--probably because he thought he could get away with lying to a woman - and denied everything, which he tried to blame on other workers. Nick owes my daughter $90 for the double doors she had to buy to replace the doors that Nick and his crew messed up. Also note that Nick had a problem with the Contractor's State License Board last year for a number of violations, including abandoning a construction project, failure to uphold trade standards, charging more than the contract amount, license name variation, taking work outside the license classification, and failure to secure workers comp coverage for employees. Nick has also been sued for breach of contract.

    Correia's Custom Floor Installations
Len Correia is the owner of Correia's Custom Floor Installations.  Len is the best of the best when it comes to floor installations.  He is professional, courteous, accurate, accessible, friendly, and does what he says he is going to do!  I did not know of Len before I found him on Angie's List.  I would highly recommend him to anyone thinking of installing floors in their home or business.  Best experience I have ever had with a flooring contractor.   Thank you again Len!  We love our new floors!!!!

I was impressed with Paul.  Unfortunatley, when I went to the Calif. License Board website, it said his licenses would not be valid after 4/4 because his worker compensation insurance was not up to date.

    Top Design Inc
Removal of fireplace (metal free-standing) quick, they had difficulty with the stone wall and hearth but did a great job taking it out. All removed waste material needed to be loaded into their van (removal of all their tools and supplies. Luckily our back porch was available and there were no problems with theft (good neighborhood). They should have had a dumpster or dump trailer for the several loads of waste removed. The removal caused slight cracking on the exterior stucco which they repaired.

Removal of old lighting and wiring to switches, which was completed. Installation of new light wiring for kitchen, dining and 2 perimeter lights. Installation of recessed lights after ceiling was completed. The recessed lighting fixtures are small and when I asked prior to purchase and installation, I had asked if they were the R30 size fixtures but R20 size were supplied and installed. With all the other difficulties, I decided not to have them replace them, concerned with additional damage and ???.
The lighting in the kitchen was so low in lighting, I just replaced them with 5and quot; Led and finially can see what we are doing in the kitchen.
They ordered a Milgard 6/ sliding dual pane door with internal mullins. It took about 3 weeks to get it and at the start we agreed they would not start demo until the slider was there. This original project was to take 2 weeks to complete. They started work the next week without the slider being delivered. They removed the fireplace, covered the open walls and installed the drywall on the ceiling and removed the tile floors in the dining room and kitchen. They had to stop for over a week, leave our home in this condition and wait for the slider to come in. They did not want to start the drywall patching because of the work of demo and wall replacement at the sliding door, so nothing got closed up during that time.

The Milgard door came in and was installed. It was so difficult to slide, we had the installer, Top Design team check it and then they called a Milgard representative to come check it. Everyone agreed that it did not work correctly, the internal mullins were crooked, the slider portion of the door was too close for the sliding door and it was causing grooves in the sliding section. They decided to replace the door (several day process). A replacement door was going to be another 3 to 4 weeks to order, but they could get one without the internal mullins within a few days. We decided to just take the one that was in stock. At the time of ordering the replacement door, we also ordered a replacement window for the kitchen (additional cost), which was a short lead item. When it came out, in about a week, the door was installed and is still harder to slide then everyone told us it would be but we are now in week 4 or 5. The door and window were install and the interior and exterior walls were drywalls and stucco prepped.

The interior drywall was ready to be finished and the drywaller patched all the walls and ceiling for texture. The exterior was started with a scratch and brown coat. Texture on the ceiling was so thin that after a primer paint and 2 coats of finish paint (supplied by us), I did an additional coat of paint and it still looks bad, but the time and efforts are against us getting an improved look, so we left it, week 6. The exterior stucco color or finish coat was applied and painted (paint by them). The paint did not match and the wall looked like it had been badly patched. The Field Supervisor, Rafael Levi (the only positive thing about the project, meeting him) agreed that the exterior patch was bad. He had a stucco company come out and it took most on one day for them to grind the wall down smooth and then apply the correct material and installation. They painted it the following day with the correct color and you cannot tell it was ever patched (Great Job Guys)!

I would not use or recommend them.

I use them about every three months.  They are very professional.  They come in and do what they need to do and leave.  They walk you through to check out any spot you want special attention to.  When they are done, they ask you to walk through and see if everything is okay.  They are very safety conscious about putting stickers on tile floors and stuff so you do not slip when you are working off the wet carpet.

    Clean Image Inc
We initially called Clean Image because we had buckling and separation of laminate flooring as well as loose & cracked tiles.  The owner of the company "Andy" responded within hours to evaluate the repairs that we thought were necessary.  Andy was concerned because it appeared to him that the damage might have been due to moisture.  He left and returned with equipment that did in deed indicate moisture below our laminate.  Andy recommended that we have an expert in water damage look at and evaluate the situation.
We had several experts look at the damage and ultimately determined that at some time in the past both our tile and laminate did sustain damage.  Due to the age of the flooring we were unable to match the existing surfaces to facilitate repair.
We determined that the best course of action was to replace all of the tile and laminate.  We again contacted Clean Image and Andy responded to prepare an estimate for the services that we desired.  His expertise in interior design even included bringing his "mobile showroom" right to our door.  I was able to look at and bring samples into the house to evaluate how well colors would fit into our decor.
Andy's team started removal & repairs within days.  Prior the installing the new flooring his team thoroughly cleaned all surfaces of dust and/or debris.  (They even dusted my collection of tea pots that I had forgotten to remove from an upper shelving area)
Andy's team was prompt, profession and quite skilled.   In less than two weeks we had beautiful tile and laminate throughout our home.
We have already referred Clean Image to two other friends and highly recommend this company for any flooring needs.  We plan to use Clean Image in the future for carpet and additional tile work.

    REGAL CONCEPTS & DESIGNS
Very smooth from first meeting to final work. we had great commuication, almost daily either by phone, email or text, considering I live in Las Vegas and Regal Concepts is in San Diego I think this is great. the tenants were expecting quests from out of state the 3rd of October and they were a concerned that the remodel I wanted to do wouldn't be done in time. I was in touch with our tenants on a twice weekly basis who informed me the work was coming along as planned the workers were professional, courteous, and clean. I choose Regal Concepts, out of 3 other companies, I am very happy with Paul Lyttle and his company an plan to us them again for more remodeling.

    REGAL CONCEPTS & DESIGNS
This is the second time we have used this company and we are extremely happy with how everything turned out. They demolished the existing interior and most of the exterior, down to the bare studs. Paul Lyttle came up with most of the designs and had constant suggestions for every aspect of our project. Even though we have done this before, there are so many decisions to be made every day, we found Paul's advice immensely helpful. His crew were always on time, they always cleaned up every day, and we actually enjoyed having them here (surprisingly). The quality of workmanship was very high. This is why we chose Regal Concepts in the first place; they custom build almost everything. We had a few strange sizes to deal with and they were able to just build it to fit. We had a very old kitchen (before 1970's), now we have beautiful cherry cabinetry with granite counter tops. They got the project done on time, and on budget, but most important for us is the quality of workmanship. We love our home and highly recommend Paul to all of our friends.
