    PROTECH CONSTRUCTION
Very high quality. I used large tiles and required 1/16 grout lines. They managed to do this on 12" X 48" tile. Fixed or moved anything I asked for and did not raze the price. When Sait was installing a new valve he heard something behind the wall he removed the drywall and found a water pipe leak and fixed it at not extra charge. As with most contractors double the estimated time.

Ben came to the condo twice to discuss the project and was right on time, very professional and listened carefuly to my needs. He spent a lot of time with me, going over every detail and studying the situation carefully. I felt he was qualified and talented-he seems like he can manage a project well as he has a good handle on the big picture. He was very courteous, and took his time.. The only issue for me was my HOA has complicated regulations and I had to sort those out before going forward. Some items were covered by the HOA Nina was exceptionally responsive, polite, courteous and froendly in every contact with her-numerous times. I met with Ben who came to the coop twice and seemed very knowledgeable, professional and willing to please m. He had good ideas, was on time and willing to take all the time necessary to understand what I wanted ,done.

We could not be happier with Max's work. He has worked on several houses in the glenwood community in aliso viejo and came highly recommended. - great quality - The completed work looks fantastic and you can't tell at all the the doors and entrance wall were not there from the beginning. He made sure to match the molding, texture, and paint exactly. Friends have even commented that they are shocked it was built in later. We consider that a sign of great work. - super considerate - Put up double layers of plastic to contain dust. Was even thoughtful of our baby's napping and eating schedule and made sure not to drill loudly when she was around. - smooth permit process - super punctual - Came w/in 10 minutes of his scheduled arrival time each day. - finished on time - Even worked weekends to wrap up on schedule. - cleaned up - The room was spotless at the end. Not a single piece of trash or pile of dust was left behind. Would use his services again in a heartbeat!

The owner, Steve helped us every step of the way in preparing for this large remodel project for us. He was courteous, very professional and unbelievably hard working. This was a first-time tile installation for us and Steve made sure we knew what to expect and patiently explained all our choices and costs for materials and labor. He communicated with us every step of the way and the installation went better than we could even expect. His knowledge is thorough and it was a pleasure working with him. We chose diagonal installation of 20" tiles and the finished project is absolutely perfect. Prepping the floor, tile placement, and final grout fill were done flawlessly. Our once neglected floor is transformed and we have Steve to thank for making that possible. My husband and I highly recommend C & M Flooring to all Angie's List users. (Steve also has professional knowledge in all aspects of home remodeling, including electrical, plumbing, dry-wall, etc.--we know because he helped us with several areas as well as the tile installation. Everything turned out great!)

The interaction went okay. The project was too small for them, so we didn't have much direction. They didn't really tell us anything in advance. I probably wouldn't recommend them. They seem like they just want to do high-end projects. They weren't as interested in our project because it wasn't high-end.

    Fallingwater Construction and Design Corp
From the very first time we contacted Fallingwater, Josh was prompt and courteous. Throughout our project he made it clear that we were valued customers and that we could contact him at any time to discuss our project. (something that we had heard from our friends would be hard to find in a general contractor) Our initial bid was more than we had planned on, but what was great about Josh is he spent the time with us to figure out what changes could be made to get our number where it needed to be without compromising the look that we were striving for. In the end, we decided on some more economical finishes and used some cool lighting details that helped accent the overall feeling. We are so appreciative of all his expertise and would confidently recommend him to anyone we know!!!

The estimate was higher then expected. So we decided not to use their service. I spoke with Josh to tell them that we didn't want to build with them because of the cost and requested them to return the plans because it is my only copy that I have. Josh said no problem, but then I never received the plans back for a month and a half. So I called back and they said that I needed to come and pick the plans up but the location is 60 miles away. I told them that it was to far away and he said that he could mail them to my home, but I would have to pay for the cost. I got upset about the situation because they were not being ethical and I said that I didn't want to contact my lawyer to have him call to get the plans. He said that ended the discussion and he hung up the phone.

The worst thing was that we hired him to do a remodel, we met with the lawyer and he said this isn't a remodel, this is a new house. This put us in the category that makes us have to pay more in taxes. With it being "new house" whatever they assess it at we pay around 1%. Instead of paying $1800 per year, it will change to $10,000 to $15,000 in taxes. Workmen he was hiring weren't getting paid, they complained to us. We paid him some up front, and were to pay the rest upon completion. He told me that the house would be finished at the end of 2004. We signed the papers January 10th of '04. By August he had not done anything. We met with lawyers in October of 2004. We fired him in December of 2007. He wouldn't do any job that was needed unless we paid in advance. He gave us an estimate, then complained he didn't charge us enough. He kept adding 20% to everything that we had to pay. His original estimate was around $370,000.00. He started finally putting the casing on the house in November of 2005. He stopped at the end of 2005. The last time I saw him was June 30th. He didn't do a bit of work on it after. He said the inspectors told him he had to finish the retaining wall before working on the house. I went down this year and asked the inspectors down at building and safety what was going on. They said the reason he couldn't finish the rest of the house was because he had to have the windows and gutters installed. The house still (to this day)has windows and roofing that leaks, water coming in, a $30,000 retaining wall that had to be torn down and replaced. The side of the house he had said he would just put up some boards that would hold all of the soil and such. The next person's house was up the hill. The soiling expert that came out told us that we would need to have a retaining wall instead of this. He didn't install any holes to allow rain to go through. He did a terrible job! After he stopped work in 2005 I saw him several times after, he would tell me to come down but he wasn't doing anything. He did, however, put the tiling in the bathrooms. This was one horror story after another.
