I phoned them after getting their price which was $500 less than cremation by a funeral home. They kept me informed about what was happening. It took a few days for the death certificate to be signed before they could pick up the body from the hospital. He also was a tissue donor but that was via a different company. They phoned me after it was picked up and gave me the approximate time when the cremation would be finished. I paid for eight death certificates; as I understand it, the price is the same whomever you order them from. They delivered the ashes back to me in a timely manner. I had options for various other things but that is what I chose.

    BAY AREA CREMATION & FUNERAL
Please note: Whoever created the initial listing for this company got it wrong. The correct company details are: Address: 1189 Oddstad Dr, Redwood City, CA 94063 Phone: (877) 938-0672 You will also find that this company is the same as "A Direct Cremation" I'm very pleased with this service. They were very helpful and direct, without being callous, transparent in their pricing and delivered exactly that they claimed. The $700 price on the web site is, of course, a starter price. Nobody drives a car off the lot at the base price, and you probably won't do so for a cremation either, but all of their prices are unbundled and published on their web site. They didn't try to do a cashectomy on me, and I didn't feel any need to haggle. In my case we had started to hunt around for a crematorium thinking we were getting ahead of the game, only to find that we urgently needed to pick a service only a few hours later - and at 10pm on New Year's Eve. This proved not to be a problem for A Direct Cremation. They did charge a little more for dealing with a holiday, but that seemed completely reasonable. All told, they were very helpful, helped us get copies of the death certificate quickly and efficiently, and we had the remains in hand within a week. Dealing with the cremation was by far the easiest part of dealing with a death in the family. I only wish that settling the estate were as simple and cheap as this.

    SANTOS-ROBINSON MORTUARY
Called & spoke to Kevin for quite a while on Sunday afternoon. 2 of us went to see the place later that same day. Kevin apologized that he wasn t dressed in business attire to meet with us he had been doing some cleaning. We spent over an hour there, extending beyond their normal business hours. Looked at the rooms, the caskets and asked a whole bunch of questions. One key point is that the prices are all itemized as listed they don t have discount packages . However, he did say they could throw in a courtesy memorial book (i.e. guest book) if we chose not to buy one. When we were out of questions, we thanked him and left. Went back with a 3rd family member the next day (Mon). Kevin was with another family, so we talked to Kathy. Went over many of the same questions again. Purchased a casket, contracted services, and requested 5 death certificates. Was originally going to get 10 certificates but Kathy advised how we could make do with fewer (and less cost) and she was right. She insisted on writing transportation for flowers into the contract, but promised to credit it back once they saw how many flowers did/did not come in. Before the procession left for the cemetery, she proactively credited us for the flower van & handed me the check. Once we made the big purchase, they did not nickel & dime us on the small stuff. They did provide complementary memorial book & also prayer cards (we picked the cards from their stock of designs). Though we did not purchase them, a rosary & crucifix appeared in the casket, the pallbearers received gloves (the florist had provided boutineers free), funeral stickers appeared in cars for the processional. Post-it, straight pins, scotch tape, side tables almost everything we asked for, they shared. Only thing they didn t share was their big screen monitor. We had made a DVD slide show memorial, but couldn t play it on their monitor because their machine couldn t read our disc format ( DVD-minus instead of plus ?). So we set our own laptop on a small table to show our slide show instead. Apparently, they d had a bad experience with an earlier customer s PC messing up their system, so we were not allowed to run their monitor with our laptop.

    BERGE-PAPPAS-SMITH CHAPEL
They meet with us and answered our questions. The funeral home gave us a price range that fit or needs and budget. We came to an agreement on what we wanted and they made the funeral and burial happen when we wanted them to happen. This funeral home was more responsive, very caring and better priced than the other area funeral homes we contacted. I would recommend and use them again.

    GARDEN CHAPEL INC
THE STAFF IS VERY KIND & HELPFUL. THEY ANSWERED MY QUESTIONS & TOOK CARE OF DETAILS AT A VERY DIFFICULT TIME. WE WERE NEVER RUSHED & THEIR STAFF TOOK THE TIME TO REVIEW THE ARRANGEMENTS THAT HAD BEEN MADE FOR MY AUNT'S FUNERAL SO WE COULD DO A SIMILAR SERVICE FOR MY UNCLE. THEY WERE ALSO VERY PATIENT IN WAITING FOR PAYMENT AS THIS WAS PAID FROM AN ESTATE & PROPERTY HAD TO BE SOLD BEFORE THE ACCOUNT COULD BE SETTLED. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.

    BYRGAN & CO. CREMATION
Experience was excellent. I was anticipating the need for such services within two weeks. I called a few local providers. Reached phone personal for all other providers. For Byrgan, reached co-owner, Jim on first call. Very professional. Able to answer all questions, and explain procedures. Knew the business. When services were called for on short notice in less than a week, reached Jim directly again. He was able to meet at my immediate convenience. All services rendered in timely, professional and VERY pleasant manner.

    OAK PARK HILLS CHAPEL CRMTN
My wife was very sick and picked Oak Park Hills as they were close to home.  They sent me a list of all the information I would need if she passed away.  After her passing went to the Funeral Home and filled out all the needed paper work and they handled everything else.  The people there were very nice. I also understand that this is one of the few funeral homes in the area that are family owned and not by a big company.

    Smith & Witter Funeral Home
They made it as easy as possible.  They were very helpful, kind and understanding.  It was a woman who was the funeral director there and it was very easy dealing with her.  I would definitely recommend this funeral home to anybody.  One of the real positives was their price.  I didn’t have a lot of services but when I did comparison-shopping, their price was extremely reasonable.  They couldn't have been more helpful and they took care of a lot of things for me that was hard to take care of at a difficult time.  For a bad experience in my life, it was a real good experience with this funeral home.

    Monte's Chapel of the Hills
We worked with Brian. We had an awful experience with my father passing away. Brian did everything he could possibly do to help turn things around to where it was a great experience. He worked very hard to make the healing process easier. He went above and beyond to where myself and my family was in awe. I wish their was a Brian in all fields of work. He cares about you and goes leaps and bounds to make sure that the stress level is lowered. I would highly recommend him and Monte's Chapel of the Hills.
