    Walker, Dr. Kristin K.
I parked in the free on-site lot.  As always, the office staff was upbeat and polite.
Note:  My skin is sun-damaged from too much beach/park/playground exposure without proper sunscreen during childhood days.  Dr. Kristin Walker has been monitoring my skin carefully for over ten years. She makes expert judgments about what must be treated and how. She is VERY thorough, and she makes valuable suggestions to help me prevent cancer. When something new appears that looks suspicious, either I bring it to her attention, or she spots it at the next scan.

After scanning my entire body at this appointment, she chose to biopsy one small area, and (as is often the case) the tissue in question tested out at UCSF as what she guessed it would be. (A biopsy is the only way to know for sure.)  Although I monitor my own skin as a precaution, too, I feel safe in her care, especially because I now use a strong sunscreen and floppy hat, and I see her for scans on a regular basis.
I did not worry about a possible scar from the biopsy because she has caused minimal or no scars on tiny biopsies she has done on me in the past.  I reminded myself that early detection for deadly cancer is the goal, and that kept my priorities in line! (On one occasion she had removed a small mole from my face that a plastic surgeon feared would scar, but Dr. Walker's technique did not leave any permanent scar at all. Obviously, results from each area and patient's skin will vary.)
The reason I gave her a "B" for availability is because she is so popular that her full-body scans book up so far ahead. Those require a longer time block.  (On the other hand, appointments for single issues have been available to me as needed.)
Dr. Walker was as caring and attentive as always.  Her sense of humor made the appointment less scary than it might have been with some doctors. Unlike dermatologists I've seen in the past, she welcomes questions about areas I spot without making me feel silly.

My PPO insurance is not one of those listed on this page, and she does accept it, so be sure to ask her staff if yours is accepted.
I have recommended Dr. Kristin Walker's services to many friends over the years.  They all value her integrity and her expert care.

    Julia Graves MD
Dr. Graves is knowledgeable about her field and never dismissive. She is willing to investigate if something seems unusual and she is happy to try several treatments to see what is most effective. I have seen other dermatologists over the years, mostly men, and they are not sympathetic to some of the things that are most troubling to a female.
She has great bedside manner and has excellent support in her office staff, particularly Esther.

    Fung, Dr. Jason F
I saw Dr. Fung at his Webster Street, Oakland office for a rash on my arm that had persisted several years and another dermatologist did not cure. It was very easy to get a new patient appointment and easy to get on after work, as he's available through 7pm on Fridays. Even having a late appointment (6:30 on a Friday!) I was seen timely. Dr. Fung listened (really!) to how I had been treating the rash and believed me (!!) and agreed with me (!!) that it wasn't likely fungal as the first dermatogist I had seen declared after a scraping. He provided some samples of cream to put on and set up an appointment in 2 weeks. Since it didn't clear up, at the 2nd appointment he biopsied the rash. He called timely with results and in detail advised of the findings and confirmed the cream was the right approach. I now know exactly what it is, and the rash is now gone. He let me know what to expect in the future and provided a perscription if needed in the future. At every one of the 3 appointments, he always asked "is there anything else?". He's an awesome diagnostican and doctor.

    Kelly Hood MD
If you want to go in for a quick Botox injection she is great. I went in for spots on my face caused by medications I take. She was only in there for about 4 minutes and told me to try bleach treatments. She didn't give me a chance to tell her I had already tried that and it didn't work. You could tell she wanted to just go in and out and she felt she was wasting time with me and could make more money with the Botox treatments.
