  • Everything went better than expected.  The boxing service was worth the cost alone.  They labeled everything perfectly and upon delivery placed the boxed items in appropriate rooms.  The way they used hanging boxes for my wife and I's wardrobe made it very easy to re-establish our closets.  The moving day went very smooth.  They placed all items/furniture wherever we asked them to and also made sure everything that needed to get plugged in was working appropriately.  They started and finished everything on time and didn't apply any additional charges.

  • B52 Van Lines is by far the most corrupt and unethical moving company I have ever used.


    I am in the hospitality business and move every few years. Over the past 25 years, we have moved across country 11 times using all major Van Line Companies. This time I thought I would consider a local based CA company to handle my move back to the East Coast and found the initial conversations most pleasant with a woman named Amanda. She was nice and professional and appeared to have my best interest in mind in getting the move set up. She kept on telling me they do lots of large cross country moves and I don’t need to worry about anything. I received a quote for $11,000. I was suspect as the price seemed a bit low compared to the major Van Lines. I asked her on countless occasions to send an estimator from their company to confirm the quote she gave me was accurate. He finally came by a few months later as apparently he was booked solid. I now know why I was getting the run around and avoidance of him doing an actual quote as this company, B52 Van Lines is the quintessential BAIT & SWITCH moving company. They are dishonest, untrustworthy, unethical, liars fraudulent and deceitful. You see, my original quote was for $8800, then I asked for additional packing and the bid went to $9900, then after they received the estimate from their estimator it went to $11,000, which I agreed to pay, not a dime more. Amanda even told me countless times on the phone “the most I would be paying is $11,000” though you will never see that in writing. Their scam tactics are a case study in making sure you read and understand the FINE PRINT. When the moving date arrived, they were supposed to be there at 7am, they arrived at 1130am. They said it would take 6-9 hours and I have it in an email from Amanda that day stating they would be done by 7 or 8pm. Well, you can easily guess that they did not finish on time as they only had 4 workers packing and loading. Amanda assured me many times over the months prior to moving that they are experts and they have plenty of staff that can come help as needed and there would be most likely 7-9 guys working that day, well that never happened as it was only 4, two showed up at first then left? It wasn’t until 130am in the morning did they finish, my wife was stressed out and delirious from the long day. The movers left the house a mess, leaving tape roles all over the place, not even picking them up. They didn’t put plastic down on the carpet and made a mess of the new carpet in the house. They drank a beer out of the refrigerator and just left the empty bottle on the counter. They didn’t pack everything and my wife had to box and pack several boxes herself to ship to the East Coast. You cannot make this up but wait, it even gets better, instead of the $11,000 they said was the most I was going to pay, the new charge that the driver told my wife at 130am in the morning was now going to be $18,750 because the 2300 cubic feet was not almost 3100 cubic feet. How in the world can an estimator miss the total quote by 41%? Unfortunately, I was not in town that day rather traveling for business but was communicating with Amanda all day via phone and email. I started to research the reviews online and realized that this is a very common practice for them, lesson learned, should have done my due diligence in advance of picking them over a reputable moving company. After numerous calls to their offices I was told by Amanda that she or a supervisor would get back to me with a response. This did not happen in the 48 hours she promised me rather 108 hours later I finally called and asked to speak with her supervisor and spoke with a gentleman, (Chris or Mike I believe) who was also very rude and offensive however once I told him that it was THEIR estimator that came out and gave the official quote, he was shocked as he said they normally do not do that but once he realized they did, he calmed down and said I was right in my compliant and he would get back to me in 30 minutes with an answer. Well, he never got back to me but Amanda did as she argued through the conversation trying to defend her company and their 41% increase in price from their quote. They finally offered instead of me having to pay an additional $8,000, they would cut it down to $5,000, I told them that was unacceptable, I even offered to split the $5000 difference so I could just put this nightmare behind me but they said no and reduced their number down to $4,000 final offer or they would hold my furniture hostage until I pay them. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ANYONE LOOKING AT B52 VAN LINES TO TRANSPORT THEIR HOUSEHOLD GOODS NOT TO USE THEM AS THEY ARE SCAM ARTIST, WORSE THAN A CORRUPT POLITICIAN. DO NOT TRUST ANYTHING THEY TELL YOU AS IT IS ALL LIES AS I HAD UNFORTUNATELY FOUND OUT THE HARD WAY…….

  • We have renewed faith in Moving Companies thanks to Gentle Giant. Have moved with many moving companies over the years local and interstate and been everything from disappointed to defrauded. Not with Gentle Giant. This is the most ethical service oriented fair priced and customer friendly company we have ever dealt with period. From holding to their estimate to sending in professional skilled movers to help us carefull pack our family belongings to helping us declutter so we could sell our home at the best possible price to transporting and unloading while allowing us to have the time we needed to find and close on a new home, GG was unbelievably accomodating. It felt like we were working with a close friend at every step. Matt in the Boston Area was generous and fair with his time, Andrius provided leadership to his team and a level of caring for our belongings that I had never seen before. As an example of their level of dedication and honesty, at one point during our move, unbeknownst to us, a desktop pen and penicl holder was damaged during packing. When we arrived in CA after our move from MA, we found a package waiting for us. We opened it to find a new desktop pen and pencil set, of the exact same brand in the package. We could not figure out who or why this was sent. When our goods arrived weeks later, it was explained that there had been an accident during packing, and the original set was damaged. BEFORE WE EVEN KNEW THIS HAD HAPPENED, GG REPLACED THE SET WITH A BRAND NEW VERSION!!! We were so impressed. The rest of our goods arrived without a blemish, on time and delivered by Andrius, who had personally driven our belongings across country and then unloaded with a team who worked harder than imaginable to unpack us within record time. We will probably never have such a big move again, but whenever we do move in the future, local or interstate, Gentle Giant is the only company will ever use. If you need to move, do not look anywhere else. They were very competitive in their pricing, but most importantly, there were no hidden costs. They did exactly what they said they would do, and then went above and beyond.

  • After a scheduling problem with the movers (another customer took too long), we were able to move a day later and the movers kicked butt.  There were a few dings and bruises to the walls and the furniture, but nothing major and I've fixed the issues without consequence.  I was happy they were able to finish in the allotted time for the Angie's List deal.  I would definitely use them again, but would budget for more time.

  • I searched for then reviewed in detail several moving companies here on Angie's List and carefully weighed all the good and bad reviews to select the company that was going to move us.  I sent out the same message to 4 companies stating I had a 1600sqft Town Home that was already all boxed up and need to move 1/2 mile down the street in the same basic neighborhood.  I selected "Let's Move It Right" as they seemed to be the most responsive in my initial communication and offered a discount deal here on Angie's List.   I did have one rather special item that needed a little more attention and planning.... a medium sized gun safe weighing about 400lbs.  They advised they had moved items like this before and it wouldn't be a problem as long as it was garage to garage, and it was.  It's worth mentioning that I got absurd quotes from several other companies as soon as I mentioned "safe".  Even though this safe has been moved a couple of times by regular movers and once by me and 2 of my friends it was like saying I had something radioactive to some movers.
    * The initial quotes I got back were all over the place.  I had one company here on the list quote me $1500 - $1600 and get snippy when I asked how they justified that when the place was already boxed up.
    After choosing Let's Move It Right I purchased the $400 for 3 guys and truck for 4 hours.  The hourly rate was $110 per hour after that.  I figured we would go over the 4 hours but felt the hourly rate was more than reasonable.  
    The scheduled time was 10am - 11am and they did email and also call to confirm.  They called back the next day and asked if they could come an hour earlier and we said that would be fine.  They then called the day of the move and indicated they would be much closer to the original time as there was some issue with the previous move that held them up.  Normally I would be less than happy about changing schedules but in this case I really appreciated the ongoing communication and can certainly understand that unforeseen things can happen with movers.
    They showed up within the adjusted time window and did a quick walk through of the house (1600 sqft) to get a grip on what was going and where.  The guys were experienced and seemed to know exactly what they were doing.  There was a little bi tof initial confusion because the paperwork they got from their dispatch didn't indicate I had pre-purchased the 4 hours but a quick call to their boss cleared that up in a couple of minutes.  After a 10 minutes walk through and some notes from me they were off and running.  They really jumping into action and hustled.  My wife stayed to "supervise" and answer any questions and I was able to go to costco and pick up some things for the new place.  I came back about 2 hours later and was very pleasantly surprised to see that they were right where I would have expected if they really hustled.   I was impressed.  All in all it took them about 3 hours to fully load and drive to the new place.  They took almost another 3 hours to unload.  The only additional charges were for the rolls of tape they used.  It was $18 in total.  The blankets and plastic wrap were included in the price.
    They didn't stop for breaks or ask about them so I went and bought them lunch and had them stop for 20 minutes (off the clock) and eat and take a breather.  They were very careful with everything and aside from a couple of very small bumps into a corner here and there everything went really smooth.
    All and all I was very happy with everything and would recommend them to other and would use them again.

  • Great all the way.  Arrived with all the materials needed to keep furniture safe from dings or worse.     Never slacked, just kept working .  Stayed within the estimated time quoted for the job.  Polite, friendly, professional and proficient.

  • The crew did a good job and did work as described. We had no damage to our items and were generally happy with our move. However, one of the three crew members seemed to do a more cursory job - was working too quickly and did not pay attention to the markings on the boxes indicating where they should go. We ended up with several large heavy boxes upstairs that should not have gone upstairs in the first place.

  • Best move we've ever experienced! Not only were their guys(4 of them)courteous & swift,but the move cost almost half of what of what Dynast Movers charged and Dynasty was slow ,used 45 blankets-which we paid for-wrapped a bag of sand we told them did not go w/the move,broke our etched gasstop to our coffee table.We were very satisfied w/the move & tipped the helpers accordingly.

  • PLEASE DON'T USE THIS MOVING COMPANY! They were by far the worst contractor I have ever used in my entire life. They broke things and refused to take responsibility including about 1,000 in repairs to my staircase. The estimate was half of what was ultimately charged, and they were jerks about the whole thing. They ended up not paying a dime for any of the damage either to the furniture or the house. I gave up after they stopped returning my calls, leaving me with the only option to either sue them, or just move on. They did offer to have someone come out and try to repair my house, but they just sent the same cruddy movers that damaged the house in the first place, with no materials to even fix anything, and had no skills to fix any of it.  All they brought was a camera.
    Also be careful on the estimates with them as well.  I clearly described what I needed done, and they gave me drive time estimates, and then I asked again to make sure it was correct because I had 2 "hops" in it.  They confirmed this, but magically, when everything is on the truck, was more than twice as much.  In fact, they essentially charge you triple for drive time because they don't deduct it from the total hours spent (plus the double for drive time).  In my case, they drove less that 4 miles total, and the drive charge ended up being about 4 hours for that 4 miles!  I really wish I could go back in time and pick another company.  I am just about to have to remove my stuff from storage and move into my new house, and I am having nightmares about the shape of the furniture I can't already see.  (What I can see if badly damaged.)  If it is as bad as I suspect, I will have no choice but to sue them.  Needless to say, someone else will be moving me out!
    I don't take writing this bad review lightly, but if I save just one other person from the horror I delt with, it will be worth it.

  • It took 2 days for them to do the work from start to finish. The crew spoke english and they had me go over the finished job with them before they left to make sure I was happy.  The floor coating was done the first day and then they put the cabinets in the second day.
