Landscaping reviews in Ladera Ranch

Calico is an excellent company. I could not have hoped for better performance. The men and owner Ken were here everyday and the job was completed per my specifications. They did everything I asked and even made some small changes or corrections along the way without any discussion. The yard was cleaned up at the end of every workday. Excellent service.

I called, it turned out he was in the neighborhood and came right over, knew what the problem was right away, fixed it in about 15 minutes. (It was a cracked pipe.) He had suggestions for some better ways to get water coverage in my yard with the existing system. Great experience, would definitely work with him again!

This is the same review I wrote on Yelp, but it's too long to rewrite, so I just copy and pasted! But don't let that take away the credibility of this review and how my wife and I feel about Go Pavers! So, here it is: This entire process of finding which reputable company to go with was a nerve-racking ordeal and trying to balance cost versus good work is not an easy decision. Even after you read ten great 5-star reviews in a row, it's always that one 2-star review that gets me all screwed up! After meeting with project managers from 4 different companies, the only way to describe this type of experience is that it's like being on a used car lot. And dealing with Project Managers felt like dealing with used car salesman.... but instead of you going out to meet them, they're at YOUR house! Yikes! However, all those terrible feelings washed away when my wife and I met Aaron Barnes at Go Pavers. He's very confident and knowledgeable (and surprisingly hilarious), but mostly, you can just tell - Aaron LOVES craftsmanship! I don't know anyone as passionate as him about this line of work and that was the main reason why we went with him - he knows his stuff so we knew he'd get it done right!! So, why does it matter if the project manager needs to know how to do the work himself? Here's the biggest reason: You are going to need someone you trust to know how to get out of a pickle of any situation that arises and believe me, many situations will arise. We had a drain situation and the workers constructing under Aaron, couldn't figure it out. He showed up, assessed the problem of the drain, looked in the backyard, went around the front and looked some more, made a decision, but then stopped, went back to the backyard again, looked to the side and said, no, this is the better solution and got all the workers and told them exactly what to do. I witnessed him do that at least five different times - he's exceptional as a problem solver and most importantly, he won't settle! He makes sure that the decision is the best one! That right there made my wife and I so grateful we went with Aaron and Go Pavers - super fortunate. Another example - He looked at one mow strip and saw the slightest dip, I mean it was barely noticeable and my wife and I said forget it, it's okay, but he insisted it needs to be fixed and called back the workers. 3 days later, they fixed it. I can go on and on, but rest assured, Go Pavers + Aaron Barnes (I can't vouch for other project managers), you can't go wrong. Whomever you go with, make sure your project manager actually knows what they are doing (not just a scripted salesman). Until I get some landscape in my planters, photos will be pending, but I'll update this post as soon as I take them, but for now, you'll have to trust my wife and I when we say meet with Aaron at Go Pavers! Make him your first priority. You'll understand why we have such high praise for him.

Overall these guys did a good job. We hired because of thier warranty and reputation. The price was a little steep but we wanted high quality work. Just a couple things they need to work on. 1.) Reduce amount of dust blown down street on other units. 2.) Crew broke off a prong of a electrical cord in my outside outlet and left site without saying anything about it, or unable to communicate it because of language barrier. It shorted out several other outlets in house including hot water heater which we did not discover until late that night. Communication guys!!

George did a great job. Completed the work quickly. Was very punctual and very professional. Provided additional recommendations of improvements that could be made to my landscape systems along with estimates. I would absolutely hire George again.

They were supposed to come out on Saturday from 7-8 at 8:30 they weren't there and hadn't called. I called them 2 times and left messages, on the 3rd call the technician answered and said he totally forgot. I told him we would reschedule and have called the last 3 days. No one has returned my calls or emails. I can't wait any longer.

Steve provided a thorough assessment of the sprinkler system, including the valves and electrical and was able to solve the wiring problem I had in a fairly quick timeframe.  I rated a C on Responsiveness because it took almost a week to get a return call. But the actual work done was A-rated.

James is incredible straight forward and takes care of problems. I was in a nightmare, paid another contractor to do my landscaping to put it this way I had to let the other contractor go and James came in and removed all of his bad-bad work that had all been done wrong.James  had to start the entire job over. Besides being upset with the first guy It was a  unbelievable experience fantastic workmanship and  a real pleasure to work with James. The bad contractor put all the pavers in wrong, with no base, didn't compact the ground so all of it  had to be remove. The bad contractor took  3 1/2 weeks to do a portion of my yard James had all that done and my BBQ and fire pit with the job completed in 4 days .My wife is so happy and so am I. Great work .
    thank you

We called Mike in mid-November 2015 to get an estimate on changing the landscape in our front yard, addressing some sod problems and repairing several broken sprinklers. He immediately diagnosed the various problems, made some reasonable suggestions, wrote up an estimate, checked the price with me (very fair!) and got to work.  By Thanksgiving my yard was transformed. We are so happy with Mike. His team maintains our yard monthly (for a great price) and he gets involved when we have bigger requests (planting, sprinklers, tree advice). He also referred us to a terrific landscape lighting expert who was as capable and pleasant as Mike! He redid our front and back lighting.
We highly recommend Mike for any yard/landscape/design/sprinkler/lighting needs that you have. He is talented and detail-oriented. He returns calls within hours (so much better than our previous services!)  Don't know what we'd do without him now!

We interviewed a few folks to do the back patio work and went with B&B given Paul's experience and the feeling that he was going to do whatever it took to make the job right.  He wasn't the least or most expensive estimate that we received but fell right in the middle.  Well, aside from the subcontractor that he hired who really rushed the finish of the job, Paul was really on top of everything - from before the job started and meeting with my wife to making recommendations on the brick vs pavers to the regular visits to the house to make sure everything was going as scheduled.  Paul definitely saw the job through and we are very pleased with the work and his follow through.  We would definitely recommend B&B!
