  • We worked with American home improvement and with Tammy as our project manager. We had our complete house re-piped including replacing the main pipe and to remodel the kitchen. Tammy helped us to redesign the kitchen, master bedroom and our half-bath. She was able to present us how it will look like when finished by the 3D design of the rooms on the computer and by making all the changes we wanted. They increased the size of the kitchen by using the unused space outside. It turned out even better than we imagined. American home improvement crew stayed with us during the long remodeling process. It was perfect to have the same people each day and have them working on the house. All the deadlines have been achieved including the city inspections that have been passed. We are very happy with the results of the remodeling and we do recommend them to anyone.

  • My experience with Certified Home Improvements was exceptional. They were reliable, professional, knowledgeable and very friendly. We needed considerable wood replacement before painting our house and Certified Home Improvements was able to handle this situation like experts. They will be the first company I call for any future home remodeling.

  • The owner of the company gave me a quote and sent his team to do the work. Although the work was satisfactory, the owner never came to check on the workers and did not inspect work when it was done. I even had to send him the payment.

  • It went great.  I'm a happy repeat customer.
At first, we sent them an email describing the work we wanted done.  They called back to schedule the work.
They were here on time.  We showed them the work to do, and got an estimate of $400.  We agreed.
On the same trip, they installed everything perfectly.  One guy had to go to Home Depot to purchase some rollers for the closet doors.  They didn't charge extra for this trip or the parts.  The final bill was exactly $400.
A week earlier, we had another company install carpeting, which was higher than the old carpet.  Therefore, the closet doors now drag on the carpet.
We thought they might have to cut down the height of the hanging closet doors.  But later they figured out they could make an adjustment to the rollers so that wasn't necessary.
They both worked at the same time.  They brought all their own tools.  They damaged nothing.  They are nice, helpful, friendly guys who know how to do the job right.
The lights work great.  The fans works great.  The closet doors slide nicely, and don't touch the carpet any more.  And all the closet doors now have guides on the bottom to keep them in place.
    Thank you!

  • Notes about the original bid.
Just be careful when choosing stone because some stone cost more that others and you can run up a large bill depending on the stone you choose.
My original quote was for $15,000.
When I went down to the stone yard to see the stone I notices these gorgeous stones that looked even better that what I had originally agreed on.
When I told them I wanted to switch to the new stone, they said this most expensive stone was not in the budget and that to use it would raise the cost of the job by the difference. It took a lot of stone to cover my planter and both walls.
This is why the job cost increased by $5,000, but it was worth it.

My yard is so beautiful that many of the neighbors have complimented me for having the nicest yard in the neighborhood.
Some asked for their business card because they liked it so much.
This yard is easier to care for and makes me proud to live there.
They sure know how to pick good workers.

  • Called the company and asked for an estimate.
After getting estimates from four companies, I selected Chai Painting.  The owner, Mr. Chai came to present their bid and he explained the materials and the process in great detail, showing examples of what types of paints to use and what will be done.  I asked many questions and he was patient in answering all of them.
They told me the job will start at 8am but they even came little earlier to prep and the job was done on the exact date it was promised.  He had brought the best team and they worked extremely accurate and precise.  They did not leave any droppings to my tiles, furnitures or carpet.  Job was clean cut and I'm extremely satisfied with the work they have done.  I had minor damages on the walls from my little kids playing and kicking the balls and slamming door on the wall, and they were able to patch and fix them as well.  They have covered all the large nail holes from previous owner hanging plants on the ceiling and frames on the wall.  I picked different colors for each room and it  turned out great.  I have originally picked a darker color but was recommend to use little lighter color since they will paint twice.  I'm glad I listened them, otherwise it would've been too dark.
I recommend Chai Painting to my friends and Angie's List members :)
They are great to work with!!!

  • Spending tens of thousands of dollars on a kitchen remodel is not something you take lightly, and I am one to do lots of research and price comparison, so I spent lots of time choosing the right contractor.  We knew we were doing a full kitchen remodel, in other words, ripping everything out (including windows and possibly walls) and getting everything brand new.  Kitchen remodel contractors are a dime a dozen in Orange County, so I visited the major players as well as a mom and pop shop, and had them come out to measure and present their proposals.
Don't be put off by the appearance of their showroom.  It's not as glitzy as their competitors, but once you take the factory tour and see how they build and stain their own cabinets, you'll feel better. Their competitors either sell you prefabricated cabinets like you get at Home Depot or only build their own doors and drawers - A Plus does it all in house to your exact specifications and measurements.
Our initial consultation with Alex (the owner and principal designer) was a little confusing since most other contractors go over every little detail and feature with you and then quickly come up with a dollar amount like $46,219.33 and you're not exactly sure if they just estimated some random number and added $10,000 to cover all their bases.  Alex's proposal was that A Plus would do everything he discussed, including all the features and add-ons we desired for a flat dollar amount.  They do not nickel and dime over little options like which wood species or door handles we wanted, soft close this or that, or little odds and ends that quickly add up.  While this approach was disconcerting at first, it was the way to go.  Since he has a background in design, he suggested removing a wall and raising a ceiling soffit that we had not considered, which really opened up our kitchen and gets us the most compliments.  He also told me I needed large heavy duty pots and pans drawers, when I was convinced I wanted standard doors.  He was right.  Rely on his design expertise!  A Plus bid might not be the cheapest in town, but its not the most expensive either, and you certainly get what you paid for and I definitely feel like I received good value.  One area where they can improve is their project management/scheduling and the time it takes to complete a major remodel.  The project was originally estimated to last about three months and ended up being closer to six before every last detail was completed.
Everyone we came in contact who works for A Plus was friendly, accommodating, professional, and easy to work with.  I recommend A Plus to anyone planning a kitchen remodel and will definitely call them when I finally get around to replacing the rest of my windows.

  • Julio gave us an estimate that was very reasonable.  They were on time and professional.  Julio has a large crew and they were able to finish the first coat in all the rooms in a day!  One more day of painting, then another for trim.  They protected our hardwood floors and carpet and when they left, everything was in excellent condition.  The painting job was top-notch.  The trim looked good and we were very happy.  The wood floors took awhile to get settled, but in the end they turned out great.  After the job was done, they cleaned everything up and stored the extra paint exactly where I told them I wanted it.  Overall a great experience.  I would definitely hire them again in the future.

  • They design our new pool from a plain rectangle to a gorgeous rock pool with fountains, a jumping platform, slide, sun-rock, spa, umbrellas holders, island and beach entry. They worked quickly and efficiently, and incorporated our ideas with his own designs and artistry. I highly recommend Gustavo!

  • Erick Allen, the owner, was hands on throughout the project. He seemed to be highly experienced in this field of business. He is very polite and professional. We basically told him what we wanted to achieve and he met our expectation. He met us at his recommended store to select stones and tiles. He also helped us pick lighting fixtures. He is always responsive when we called and emailed him. Project took 2 months from signing the contract to completion. There are some small details that we are still expecting to get completed. Quality of work is excellent. The workers always made sure construction areas were cleaned up at the end of day. This was very important for us. We feel that pricing was a good value for the high quality workmanship and quality of material used.
