It went great. He told me it would take 5 days and it took 5 days. He told me the cost and that is exactly what it cost. He was here promptly ever day and he cleaned up every day after he was done. He did a wonderful job. I have had a lot of compliments on it.

Great!   Jesus and his crew are great.  A real happy bunch of guys that works well together and gets the job done!   Very pleased with the professional job this crew did, and will be using them again next year for another project.  Justin the manager is great, steps you through the process and goes over the quote in detail so you know exactly what you are getting and what it is costing.   Recommend this group for any stucco or exterior painting needs.

    Block Island Remodeling
The team of Danny and Jaime arrived on time, with Jim Stevenson, the salesman, to introduce us and explain the work to his crew.  We had added a few new requirements to the job -- like using a Trex-like material for the chimney skirting and extra joists that should be replaced -- and Jim Stevenson, did not up the price.  He was very accommodating and professional.  The same two workers stayed on the job, but later in the week they were pulled off to go to another job.  They were back mid-day the next day and finished up the job, along with the roofer, Jason. There were also a few other workers that came and helped out, one with the difficult pillar job.
Block Island's philosophy is to replace entire pieces or wood and not just partial fixes to the damage or patch jobs.  They prime and paint the wood pieces before they install them to avoid warpage.  The price included all labor and materials and we didn't have to pay until the job was done and we were happy with their work.  I requested that they touch up with paint several areas that were missed and the workers were only too happy to oblige.
Every day the workers kept the debris on tarps and kept the area neat, Jim hauling away the extra dry rotted wood.  The one area that did get sloppy was in the front by the new pillar, a very difficult to work area with a rocky swale with lots of plants intermingled.  Lots of odd bits of nail, wood shavings and roofing material was left there.  We'll cut them some slack on this area.  It was no problem for us to clean it up afterward.  Overall, we were very pleased with the team's professionalism, workmanship, and competitive pricing.  I am recommending them to my neighbors and friends.

Most people say their remodel experience is a total nightmare, but ours was a dream.  Henry Bertram, owner and operator of San Diego Craftsman Construction, Inc., was an absolute delight to work with.  He listened carefully to all of our ideas, made suggestions, and spent a considerable amount of time clarifying what we were picturing for our remodel.  The subcontractors that he brought in for each part of the project were all extremely professional, arriving on time, courteous, and outstanding in their workmanship.  Their esteem for Henry was quite obvious and they were amazing with all of the comings and goings in their good humor and respect for each other's trades and craftsmanship.  I was really impressed by the teamwork I  observed.
Henry was an integral, continual part of the entire process.  In addition to meeting in person, he communicated by email, texting and phone calls and his responses were extremely rapid, respectful and informative.  Our entire project took from 2009 to 2011, starting with the master suite and decking, which was finished in 3 months.  We then took a long break before starting our second phase which included all of the remaining work and lasted approximately another 3 months.  We kept adding ideas as we went along and Henry was completely flexible and open to working with our changes.
I have to add that I came home one day to find that Henry had had his men rewire, drywall, paint and repair our incredibly ugly laundry room (a room that we weren't going to bother with because it was too overwhelmingly ugly) all at his own expense because he said he just couldn't bear to leave us with such an eyesore.  Amazing!
I can't recommend San Diego Craftsman Construction enough.  We had a wonderful experience, love our new home and will definitely call on Henry again, although we have little left to alter now!!
