Lighting Installation reviews in La Mesa

    JK Painting Services
I have hired JK Painting Services for a number of jobs over the last several years. On numerous occasions, they have painted the exterior and interior of my home, and painted the interior of my salon. The quality of their workmanship is outstanding, and their prices are fair. Best of all, they stand by their work. If there is anything you find that doesn't suit you, Jason, the owner, will make sure it gets taken care of. There are two other attributes that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE about this company. One is that they just don't do paint. Jason Kleiman is a general contractor and can handle electrical repair/replacement as well as several other kinds of jobs. I've had them repair, replace and install all kinds of lighting in my home. They installed new security lights outside, and they replaced all my old lighting in the house with new, recessed lights as well as some new pendant lights. They also replaced the vent over my cooktop. They replaced baseboards and the molding around door frames. Jason looks at the entire job -- not just a piece of it - and quotes you for everything. No nickeling and dimeing from this contractor. The other attribute is that he has a dedicated and experienced crew. His crew are honest, hard working, and deliver a top notch product. Several of his employees have been with him for over 20 years! They come into my home or salon and I communicate with them directly about the job and then they deliver exactly as I want. What does that tell you about this company -- all good! I'm trying to remember how long I've used JK Painting Services over the years -- it's probably at least 20 years. When you find the best, you stick with it. I was fortunate in finding the best and I will stick with this company forever.

    Superior Kitchen & Bath, Inc.
Quality of Work: All of the subcontractors employed (tile work, granite and quartz countertop, electrical, plumbing, wood flooring, cabinet shop, interior design) were of top quality, making sure they kept to schedule and answered any questions we had. Kitchen layout and cabinets: We upgraded to beautiful walnut cabinets and were glad we did. They add an extra warmth and beauty to the kitchen. They are custom designed, so we got the vertical dividers, spice rack, under-cabinet drawers, trash and recycle bin pull-outs that make life more convenient for aging-in-place. The quality of the cabinet work is outstanding, both inside and out. They look like fine furniture. No funny little misfits that can happen even with the best factory stock cabinets; they are never quite the dimensions you need. The layout allowed for a longer island with more counter space than we had and more clearance was gained by having a counter-depth refrigerator. To make up for less room for veggies, a Sub-Zero 2-drawer refrigerator was installed. Tile Work: These subcontractors worked extra hard to meet schedule, working into the evenings sometimes. (with our permission) The work involved tearing out a roman tub and replacing with an at-grade shower with no step-over dam and no shower door, so the exact slope of the shower floor was very critical so that the water would flow into the drain and not out onto the rest of the shower room. Plumbing: While the roman tub was being jack-hammered out, a leak was detected in the cold water line. After a leak-detector company found the location of the leak, the job site supervisor and plumber were able to facilitate a workaround by tapping into the cold water line in the master bath. Unfortunately this workaround eventually prevented cold water from going to the kitchen sink. Another workaround was put in place, where the outside water line was tapped into, a line run underneath the outside countertop and back into and under the kitchen sink. These workarounds only set the schedule back slightly. Scheduling: The office supervisor issued a work schedule each week showing us what activities were going to be accomplished each day. If someone didnt come when expected, she was very responsive to our calls to find out why that particular contractor was unable to show that day and she always got back with me that same day, so I knew why. We never felt abandoned. Granite and quartz slabs: The Superior Crew didnt blink an eye when we discovered the incorrect size of quartz slab was being installed. They simply fixed the error at their considerable cost. This didnt really cause an overall schedule impact because other tasks were being accomplished while waiting for the correct size slab. Interior Design: With 10 hours of an interior designers time included in the contract price, we were able to cut through hours of agonizing over tile choices. Our interior designer helped us make choices so that various aspects of the design were not competing with each other, like choosing a kitchen floor tile that did not compete with the granite on the island. The interior designer put together all of our choices, including grout colors, into a Google spreadsheet which helped guide the tilers and wood flooring folks. Wood Flooring: These subcontractors did an outstanding job in, first, leveling the floors so that there will be no future warpage, and second, in their attention to detail. They took their time on the more complex parts of the flooring, like where steps and vertical surfaces needed to be wood covered. The supervisor came back later to inspect their work, inform us of how to care for our new floors, issuing us a Bona cleaning kit, and lots of good advice. Electrical: All of our lighting choices were implemented the way we wanted, with lots of choices, depending on what task is happening in the kitchen: eating at the kitchen table, or preparing meals or washing dishes. They also came back to troubleshoot wiring for our telephone answering machine. Painting: This subcontractor put in lots of time, both in making sure that the surface texture was added properly, ensuring that a 10-ft plus shaft to a ceiling skylight was skip-troweled and painted, and that any missed areas were touched up. They made sure to match the existing woodwork so that we didnt have to get the woodwork in the entire house redone. They came back as part of the end-of-the-project punch list work and made sure that every little detail was the way we wanted. Details, details, details: Finally at the end of the project, we listed anything we wanted fixed in a punch list: grout needing more fill, new door in kitchen installed with a more stable base and grout rather than vinyl on the inside, paint touch-ups, wall gouges needing fill and paint. All of this was done over a period of several days until we got exactly what we asked for. Follow up: Superior Kitchen & Bath considers its clients as part of their family and has helped us with a problem we experienced after the remodel was complete. The office supervisor helped me locate along with the helpful personnel at Ferguson a microwave that would fit into the existing cut-out in our new cabinets. And their personnel will help install it! Above and beyond the call of duty. Kudos to all of the personnel at Superior Kitchen and Bath. I have already recommended them to our friends who are about to embark on a master bath remodel.

    Shea Electric
Kevin replaced the the bathroom switch with a dimmer switch he recommended that allows me to control the brightness level in the room. I hadn't thought about a dimmer switch and it turned out to be the best choice. Reaching the wires to get at the outdoor fixture he had to replace was a bit tricky but he managed it and made sure when he installed the new fixture that it was correctly positioned and angled. He worked quickly, cleanly and efficiently.

Roque and his helper showed up right on time and made quick work of everything. They completed their work within 2-3 hours time, before lunch. The old flanges of the recessed lights on the 20-ft high ceilings were of a larger diameter than modern ones. So after I supplied them with some flat white paint they very carefully painted the exposed area so that once the new cans were installed, along with LED bulbs, which they supplied, you couldn't see any difference in the ceiling color around the cans. They even cleaned the brush they used to paint and swept up after their job was done. Excellent job! The new lights not only look great, but save us money because they are LED bulbs.

    Dwelling Electric
Did 1.5 days of work to install all 24 lights. Arrived as expected on both days. Rates were significantly lower than any other company I had spoken with. Quality of work and professionalism was very high. Kept the house very neat during drilling into ceiling and installation. Cleaned up completely at the end of each day. He was upfront with expectations and worked steadily toward completion of project without dawdling. Very conscientious about the hours he worked, subtracting any lunch break so that he worked the full 8 hours I paid for. Would use again and would recommend.

The project went fine. Tom, Lisa and Brittany are excellent to work with. They are professional and responsive to our questions and any concerns that we had. The contractors were always polite, friendly and punctual. Manny, the project manager was on top of the project at all times. My husband, who works in the industry had some concerns about a few grout lines around the tub, but Manny had the crew there within hours to make very minor corrections. Lisa's input regarding color coordination, counter top finish edges and cabinet handles was on point. She convinced me to change from all white decor to mauve base cabinets--I must admit I absolutely love them. We would not hesitate to recommend Superior K&B to our friends and relatives and we will most definitely use them in the future for other projects.

    WOOLSEY CONSTRUCTION
It went great!  The work was done on time (once we finally got the permits from the city of La Mesa.).
Luke kept us informed throughout the process and was very responsive.  Months after the work was complete we discovered some items that needed completion and some that needed touchups.  Luke came out promptly and took care of those at no extra charge.  We would definitely use them again.

    Parkllan Electric Company
Jeff was very pleasant, prompt and competent. He did a great job trouble-shooting some complex circuitry resulting from two remodels. He was diligent in diagnosing the problems and proposed good solutions. He got a ceiling fan working which had been dead for years. He helped us get two other fans operable, one in the attic and the other in a storage area, and fixed some faulty outlets. The price was fair for the work done. We intend to use him again and would definitely recommend him to others.

    Far West Electric
First, Noah took the time to educate my wife and me on the difference between standard lights, and LED options.  We opted for the LED options because they draw less power, and the bulbs last longer.  Secondly, Noah and his team took the time to place templates throughout the house so we could visualize how the lights would look, and were they were to be placed.  Very professional.
After all the lights holes were cut out, they cleaned up every piece of debris and dust they created, and even went as far as vacuuming our floors.  We live in an older house, so we ran into some problems with the wiring.  Noah apologized that they could not fix it all in the same day.  They came back as soon as they were available at no extra charge, took their time to correct each problem, and make sure that every light was working perfectly to our satisfaction.

At this time, I would trust no one else for any electric work in my home, except Noah and his team.  I could not have been more pleased with their work, or the cost of the work.

    REGAL CONCEPTS & DESIGNS
My wife and I needed a quick turnaround renovation. We were expecting our first child and we had a due date that wasn't changing, so when we were interviewing contractors Paul stated they could have all the work done in the amount of time we requested, I believed him, and he delivered. All the work above was performed in about 9 weeks, and completed on time, even with a little extra work added from the original scope. My wife and I had moved out of the house so that the work could be done faster. Work started end of February and was done early April. The work started with removal of the popcorn textured ceilings, and the end result of the work done was great, but the sub consultant used our front yard/ and hoses as a cleaning station leaving quite a bit of mess. Most of it was eventually cleaned up, but the first impression was a little tough. I spoke with Paul about it and the sub never used our yard again to clean up. After that the work got going quicker and quicker. The AC, water heater, walls, windows, new laundry, paint and coordination with our flooring installer done done within a month. One major word of kudos, the team Paul used for framing, drywall, and patching did an excellent job. I believe that is where they really excelled. The electrical install of the new recess lighting looks great and is one of my favorite features of the house. We did some quick re-adjustments of the new laundry room venting, gas lines, and electrical to make more sense with how the new machines would fit, and they were done quickly. The new windows on the outside look incredible, and Paul's team matched our stucco and paint perfectly. As I said before we were on a very rapid schedule, and so one of the last items was painting. Overall, the paint came out OK, but we went through a few rounds of needed touch-ups to missed areas and a few wobbly lines, but Paul's team did what they could to fix things. I would say maybe if I had given them a bit more time the interior paint would have had a better quality, but in the end we got an overall decent job. The last item was a plumbing job. We found that after the install of the new tankless water heater the water pressure in the house was significantly less than previous. Paul's plumber sub was sure it was the reducer and valve outside the house, but I wasn't so sure. When I tried to work with Paul on the price and to see if the new plumbing componentswere actually necessary and maybe the issue was with the new tankless system he disagreed. I offered to split the cost with him but he refused. Ultimately, after replacing the new plumbing components, the house pressure was still bad.I paid for new plumbing components that did not fix the pressure problem, but Paul did finally offer to split the cost and look into what could be causing the problem. At that time, we were juggling our new babyand truing to move back in and I just wanted the project behind us.
Overall, I would use Regal Concepts again.
    Pros:
Pauls Team hit every schedule milestone
Great quality of framing, windows, electrical, and coordination
Good team of workers, always on time and extra effort
    Cons:
Interior paint was done quickly, but was under rush schedule, but needed a lot of fixing.
Our front and backyards were used as messy paint and patch clean up stations.
