    ASI The White Glove Guys!
I called them for air conditioning repair. The AC tech went into the basement (the AC unit is outside in the yard) and immediately told me that the water heater was likely releasing carbon monoxide into the basement and needed to be replaced. I advised that it was next on my list but not urgent; however, he pressured me to replace because of high danger. The bill came to $3245 for a 40-gallon 6-year guaranteed water heater listed on the internet as retailing for approx. $600. I asked for an itemized bill to demonstrate the charges, and I got an invoice showing the water heater at $2400, with $149 for a permit and $850 for a new vent to the outside. I called to question the charges and got a very perfunctory reply about all the work they had done. I had one plumber here and two helpers for 4 hours. Very steep price with very disreputable sales tactics and pressure. I'll never use them again.

West Coast Heating Air Conditioning and Solar
The salesman, Rocky, was highly professional. He took to time to go over several options with me; and when I asked questions he didn't know the answer to, rather than winging it, he sought the correct information and relayed it to me. What stood out dramatically is that of several vendors I solicited quotes from, West Coast was the only one that even mentioned SDG&E rebates. Turns out that there is a rebate, but qualifying for it is difficult, and it requires pre- and post-audits; so I'm not surprised most vendor choose not to bother. Further, West Coast gave me credit for the rebate up front, taking the risk themselves that the project might not pass the audit and they might not get the rebate. The rebate reduced my cost by more than 15%, and made it possible to buy a higher-end and more efficient system than I otherwise might have. Dominic and his team installed a Trane XC80 variable speed furnace and coils, and an 4-ton XV18 variable speed condenser. The project also included replacing all attic ductwork with new R-8 ductwork, sealing all outlets to avoid leakage, and other work to qualify for the rebate. Work was done in two days, as advertised, and his team laid runners everywhere they worked and were very careful to leave the property as they found it. It's a great revelation to have the system loafing along at 30% fan speed, which is barely perceptible, most of the time on these hot August days in the mid- to high-90s, rather than coming on with a loud roar for 10 to 15 minutes at a time which the previous system. Full results aren't in, but judging from daily and 15-minute electrical consumption readings on the SDG&E web site, it appears that this system may be as much as 50% more efficient than my previous system--likely a combination of the 18-SEER condenser, variable speed fan and compressor, and new ductwork. Trane is far from the low-cost provider in this arena, but as I see it, their cost is justified by the fact that in its Fall 2018 review of air conditioner reliability, Consumer Reports reported that Trane was second (by one percentage point) in five year reliability only to American Standard--which is manufactured by Trane. And, as noted above, the SDG&E rebate, which among the vendors I solicited only West Coast volunteered, allowed me to purchase this at a comparable cost to other, less-reliable systems.

The Right Choice Heating and Air, Inc.
My opinionfor me, it was the WRONG CHOICE. The tech they sent did not have experience. The entire time he was on premise he was consulting by phone to his office. He could not answer even basic questions without first checking with his office. After two minutes with the compressor evidently he was instructed to advise me not to put another dime into my unit and I needed to replace it! This did not sit well with me since their first and only recommendation was i needed a new system. But mine still worked! From that point I lost trust in their advice. They recommended actions that were in their best interestnot mine. So I asked him to stop what he was doing. I was uncertain whether he would sabotage my unit in an attempt to justify the need for a new one. So I paid him for the call anyway. I just wanted him away from my equipment. FOLLOW UP NOTE: I since had Bob Jensen Air Conditioning provide the identical service. My unit is a Lenox (built like a tank) and everything is operating now perfectly! The service was provided by a very experienced, knowledgeable, and professional tech who knew a lot on his own!! I dislike providing negative reviews. This was the first time I used this company - The Right Choice (based on the Angies List recommendation.). It was my mistake.

    Brs mechanical
These guys do top shelf work. We had them do a very complex, ductless mini-split system installation. Bruner came to our house to review our situation and provide an estimate. He was very thorough, helpful, and he really knew his stuff. He went through all of our options and helped us decide to go with mini-splits as opposed to central AC. We also had him re-do the duct work coming out of the plenum of our furnace. We were able to get the work scheduled shortly after getting his estimate. The crew arrived on time and got the job done in the time frame we were originally given, despite running into running into some unexpected conditions. They really went out of their way to work with us and meet our needs. The installation was clean, neat, and professional. BRS did a high quality job for us at a very competitive price.

    Gladstone Heating & Air Conditioning
I'm a novice at home improvement and had quite a learning curve. I got multiple bids for a new furnace to replace a 40 year old system. After reviewing fancy video presentations and checking out shoe covers and the white glove thing of other companies who came in at twice the price, I chose Gladstone because of their responsiveness and patience, and I'm so glad I did. I was able to afford a new furnace AND AC! They were on time each day, took only 4 days including dismantling and removing the ancient furnace and all the collapsed ducting in a sprawling ranch house, and they even did some extras things in my attic. The owner was present each day and answered all of my questions, made changes I asked for and did a final walk through. I highly recommend Gladstone.

    Tarpy Plumbing Heating & Air
We took advantage of the heating/cooling check-up deal on Angie's List to have Tarpy Plumbing Heating & Air come out and service our furnace. It was an easy matter to schedule a time for a tech come out to our house for the check-up. When I called for an appointment, I asked if we could have the tech check our A/C at the same time, we were told "of course" and given the Angie's List coupon price for the A/C also. Our Tech, Chris, was thoroughly prepared and well organized - no running back and forth to the truck for equipment/tools. Chris replaced our filter (at no charge) and even checked the output temperature of every air duct to ensure that the A/C and furnace were providing us with the proper air temperature. After servicing our unit, Chris spent time with us to explain what he had done and what his findings were - as it turned out, our unit was in very good condition (we service our A/C & furnace annually) and needed no other work. After wishing us a cheery "Happy Holidays" Chris was on his way to his next stop. We are very impressed with the caliber of people working for Tarpy - from the front office to the field. We'll definitely be using Tarpy for any future A/C or heating work.

Bob Jenson Air Conditioning And Heating Inc
We contacted Bob Jensen a year ago to fix a faulty AC system. They came right away in the midst of a heat wave. We were so pleased with the outcome we then entered into a maintenance agreement. That service call is being reviewed here. The technician arrived early, assessed our heating and cooling system and performed all necessary maintenance. He was professional and courteous and we were delighted with the overall experience. Great company,

    Gladstone Heating & Air Conditioning
They were quick and professional. They were informative both during the sale and then afterward. They gave me the heater and AC units that were the right size for my small house, the other companies quoted me larger units I didn't need. They were good listeners.

    Global Heating & Air
For the second month in a row, I had received an electric bill that was in excess of $ 500.00, my HVAC system was on its last leg, Duct work was a mess and there was an asbestos pipe in the gas exhaust system from the furnace to the roof that had to be removed. I spent numerous hours researching and deciphering reviews and narrowed my search to three potential companies. Throughout the estimate process, I was asking questions and narrowing the list. Global Heating and Air Conditioning Rep, Sal Assek provided an estimate for a complete replacement of the AC, Air Handler and upgrade the ventilation. He was polite, informative and respectful as he listened to my concerns. 30 minutes into the walk through, I knew that Sal and his team would be conducting my installation. Sal handled all permits and sub contracted the removal of the asbestos pipe prior to start of the installation. September 5, began Day one. Saif and Awni, showed up on time, they actually called 15 minutes ahead to let me know they were in route. After the introductions, they immediately walked with me through the entire process to ensure we were both on the same page as far as the install process. They were very clean, and respectful of my home. They kept me updated throughout the day with their progress and prior to leaving on day one, we walked my home to ensure I was happy with the cleanliness and to plan for day two. Day two, Saif, Awni and David arrived on time to finish the installation. They worked well as a team, and again kept my home clean and undamaged. Once the system was fully operation, Saif provided me with technical documents and showed me how to operate they system and set the thermostat while David and Awni vacuumed and swept the work areas and the garage. I have since completed the State and City inspections and the installation passed with zero discrepancies. I highly recommend Global to handle any HVAC issues you may have. If you are greeted by Sal, Saif, Awni or David, you should feel confident knowing you are in great hands.
