    Orozco Flooring Corp.
We worked with Brandon and Nathan at Orozco Flooring and from the first call they were a pleasure to work with. The initial quote was not the cheapest but way less than most other estimates and very reasonable when you consider they are licensed bonded and guarantee their work for one year. Once hired they made sure all our needs were met every step of the way and went out of their way to make sure our installation was complete from A to Z. From showing up on time (and sometimes early) to adding an additional layer of self-leveler (not part of the original quote) to upgrading our baseboards (at no additional cost) to finding the perfect reducer (again for free)- they went the extra mile to make sure the job was done right and we were happy. It was not an easy job (in fact others had said it could not be done) and although there were a few minor hiccups along the way, each time an issue arose they were communicative and responsive and ultimately were able to fix each issue without any add ons to the initial estimate for the job. Overall I would recommend Orozco Flooring to anyone in San Diego and will return to them the next time I have flooring needs.

    Superior Kitchen & Bath, Inc.
Quality of Work: All of the subcontractors employed (tile work, granite and quartz countertop, electrical, plumbing, wood flooring, cabinet shop, interior design) were of top quality, making sure they kept to schedule and answered any questions we had. Kitchen layout and cabinets: We upgraded to beautiful walnut cabinets and were glad we did. They add an extra warmth and beauty to the kitchen. They are custom designed, so we got the vertical dividers, spice rack, under-cabinet drawers, trash and recycle bin pull-outs that make life more convenient for aging-in-place. The quality of the cabinet work is outstanding, both inside and out. They look like fine furniture. No funny little misfits that can happen even with the best factory stock cabinets; they are never quite the dimensions you need. The layout allowed for a longer island with more counter space than we had and more clearance was gained by having a counter-depth refrigerator. To make up for less room for veggies, a Sub-Zero 2-drawer refrigerator was installed. Tile Work: These subcontractors worked extra hard to meet schedule, working into the evenings sometimes. (with our permission) The work involved tearing out a roman tub and replacing with an at-grade shower with no step-over dam and no shower door, so the exact slope of the shower floor was very critical so that the water would flow into the drain and not out onto the rest of the shower room. Plumbing: While the roman tub was being jack-hammered out, a leak was detected in the cold water line. After a leak-detector company found the location of the leak, the job site supervisor and plumber were able to facilitate a workaround by tapping into the cold water line in the master bath. Unfortunately this workaround eventually prevented cold water from going to the kitchen sink. Another workaround was put in place, where the outside water line was tapped into, a line run underneath the outside countertop and back into and under the kitchen sink. These workarounds only set the schedule back slightly. Scheduling: The office supervisor issued a work schedule each week showing us what activities were going to be accomplished each day. If someone didnt come when expected, she was very responsive to our calls to find out why that particular contractor was unable to show that day and she always got back with me that same day, so I knew why. We never felt abandoned. Granite and quartz slabs: The Superior Crew didnt blink an eye when we discovered the incorrect size of quartz slab was being installed. They simply fixed the error at their considerable cost. This didnt really cause an overall schedule impact because other tasks were being accomplished while waiting for the correct size slab. Interior Design: With 10 hours of an interior designers time included in the contract price, we were able to cut through hours of agonizing over tile choices. Our interior designer helped us make choices so that various aspects of the design were not competing with each other, like choosing a kitchen floor tile that did not compete with the granite on the island. The interior designer put together all of our choices, including grout colors, into a Google spreadsheet which helped guide the tilers and wood flooring folks. Wood Flooring: These subcontractors did an outstanding job in, first, leveling the floors so that there will be no future warpage, and second, in their attention to detail. They took their time on the more complex parts of the flooring, like where steps and vertical surfaces needed to be wood covered. The supervisor came back later to inspect their work, inform us of how to care for our new floors, issuing us a Bona cleaning kit, and lots of good advice. Electrical: All of our lighting choices were implemented the way we wanted, with lots of choices, depending on what task is happening in the kitchen: eating at the kitchen table, or preparing meals or washing dishes. They also came back to troubleshoot wiring for our telephone answering machine. Painting: This subcontractor put in lots of time, both in making sure that the surface texture was added properly, ensuring that a 10-ft plus shaft to a ceiling skylight was skip-troweled and painted, and that any missed areas were touched up. They made sure to match the existing woodwork so that we didnt have to get the woodwork in the entire house redone. They came back as part of the end-of-the-project punch list work and made sure that every little detail was the way we wanted. Details, details, details: Finally at the end of the project, we listed anything we wanted fixed in a punch list: grout needing more fill, new door in kitchen installed with a more stable base and grout rather than vinyl on the inside, paint touch-ups, wall gouges needing fill and paint. All of this was done over a period of several days until we got exactly what we asked for. Follow up: Superior Kitchen & Bath considers its clients as part of their family and has helped us with a problem we experienced after the remodel was complete. The office supervisor helped me locate along with the helpful personnel at Ferguson a microwave that would fit into the existing cut-out in our new cabinets. And their personnel will help install it! Above and beyond the call of duty. Kudos to all of the personnel at Superior Kitchen and Bath. I have already recommended them to our friends who are about to embark on a master bath remodel.

Jiri has done three bathroom remodels for me! And.. He has also done a balcony remodel, two room remodels and a studio floor remodel. Jiri is the BEST! He not only conducted the work in my remodels, he gave me ideas on the design and offered best solutions and helped me cut costs. He is quick and timely. He will go to Home Depot to pick up extra things needed. And he helped me put up any finishing touches. He does not over-price things or charges extra in the end. Jiri sticks to his bids and even if he has problems on your flooring or whatever, he does not charge extra. He is a true man to his word. I highly recommend him!!! In addition he is a great family man with a wonderful daughter who has an amazing potential to succeed! Cindy

The project went fine. Tom, Lisa and Brittany are excellent to work with. They are professional and responsive to our questions and any concerns that we had. The contractors were always polite, friendly and punctual. Manny, the project manager was on top of the project at all times. My husband, who works in the industry had some concerns about a few grout lines around the tub, but Manny had the crew there within hours to make very minor corrections. Lisa's input regarding color coordination, counter top finish edges and cabinet handles was on point. She convinced me to change from all white decor to mauve base cabinets--I must admit I absolutely love them. We would not hesitate to recommend Superior K&B to our friends and relatives and we will most definitely use them in the future for other projects.

    WOOLSEY CONSTRUCTION
It went great!  The work was done on time (once we finally got the permits from the city of La Mesa.).
Luke kept us informed throughout the process and was very responsive.  Months after the work was complete we discovered some items that needed completion and some that needed touchups.  Luke came out promptly and took care of those at no extra charge.  We would definitely use them again.

    Ground Pounders Carpet Cleaning
Wade is truly a pleasure to work with...he is very professional and cares about his clients. He completed the project in the time he estimated and there was no upselling at all. Wade put in 12 laminate flooring covering about 380 sq. feet and his attention to detail is amazing. My wife and I are very pleased with how it came out and would recommend him to anyone looking for new laminate flooring and baseboards.

    Stemar Restoration
A leaking sink in the lunch room of our business led to water damage in the cabinet and in the back wall.  Several years ago, Stemar was recocmmended to me when we had extensive water damage at my home.  We were very happy with their work then, so we  contacted them for the current job.
They arrived when scheduled, provided an estimate of the repair required along with additional work we reequested.  The price was very fair.

The work was performed by a very competent and courteous crew.  They worked during our company's normal working hours and never caused inconvenience to our employees.  They put down mats to avoid dirt or damage while they worked, and left the site spotless at the end of each day.  All aspects of the job from start to completion were handled in a quick, courteous and businesslike manner.

The quality of the completed job exceeded our expectations and we plan on engaging Stemar for an additional project in the very near future

    Ocean Flooring & Construction

Ocean Flooring is a superb local flooring company. I received estimates from three other flooring companies and all were similar in cost. The reason I went with Ocean Flooring is that they had the most detailed estimate, had good relationships with suppliers and were responsive to all my questions and requests.

The job meant a lot to me and Ocean Flooring took all my requests seriously (all my requests were in reason). The job was not small and as a working person $17,500 is a lot of money. However, my concerns grew less as each day progressed. T

As a medium to largish job not everything went smoothly and that is to be expected, but here is the difference: the issues were not huge and they always immediately corrected as I brought them up or they informed me. One example is that a few small details didn't come out to my satisfaction. Ocean flooring took my input seriously and corrected things with respect and alacrity. Also, everything was done to make sure I was satisfied.

Another indication to their skill and professionalism is the stuff they did that you wouldn't normally or commonly see: they took the same care and expertise to install flooring and molding in small closets and under the appliances where you would never see it. It is when nobody can see your work and you do it right is a great indicator of professionalism.  They are the real deal

    We constantly get great comments

on our floors. We are very satisfied with this company and would always recommended them

    EASLAND FLOORING INC
It went fine. We haven't done anything yet because he advised us that he really couldn't give us an estimate until after we pulled our carpet up. We did really like his approach because we got two other estimates from other companies and they didn't seem to need to do that. We are not just refinishing hardwood floors. We have a portion of the house that hasn't had hardwood floors before, so we have to have new ones put in and laced in to match the old ones. The other companies had said that, once they brought that new wood in, we need to let it sit in the house for 10 days or something like that for acclamation, and he said that he actually recommended that it be longer than that, and the longer the better. He said that, if we could do it for 3-4 weeks, which would even be better. So, we felt like he gave us very high quality information even though we haven't gotten to the point of going forward with our flooring yet. We kind of liked his approach the best even though, in a way it is a little harder. The other guys were just going to come in and rip out the carpeting and move it out and do all of this, and the way that he would like to do it, is that we would have the carpeting taken out so that he can come and see what the situation is and give us a precise budget. It kind of makes us have to divide the work up a bit, but in the long run, it sounds like it could be to our advantage to do that. We have some ceiling stuff that we need to have done, and he and others advised us that the floors should be the last thing. We should do our ceiling and then the walls and then, last of all the floors, so that the later work doesn't mess up the newly finished floors. That might be another reason that it might be a while before we actually get to do the floors themselves. I really can't say anything about the price at this point but it sounds like it is going to be a really fair and real estimate based on him knowing everything there is to know. I think he was the most conscientious or the most conservative in talking to us about how to minimize the chances of warping or shrinking or anything like that happening. So, even though we haven't really seen his work yet, his approach to the work, I think, is really honest. He came the same day or the next day when we called him. He was smart too because, we have these two dogs and they kind of go nuts when people come in, and he had like little dog snacks in his pocket and he gave it to them as soon as he arrived and that just completely cut out the whole getting to know him stuff. So, that was really good and I guess he has dogs too. We most likely are going to use him.

    Sigura Construction Inc
First, since I live 500 miles from this house, I had to pick a contractor who was willing to communicate with me by email and phone since I could not be on site. Second I needed a company who had experience working with insurance companies. Third I felt  Sigura Construction was working for me and not for the insurance company. Now that the work is finished, I feel this is a good choice.  I made some bad assumptions when this task started. First I thought the insurance company was my friend. Second I allowed the insurance company to use their engineering company to inspect and write up his report which was slanted in favor of the insurance company and caused me some heartburn.

There was considerable time spent discussing and coming to agreement on the needed repairs to my house. You can tell there was multiple changes to the quote/cost when the first quote from the insurance company was $19,640.07 in June 3, 2013 and their last quote was $81,776.34 in January 31, 2014. One  thing Sigura told me was it may take a long time to fix your house right. The work was done in my opinion in two stages. The first part was to remove the damaged portion of the house that can be seen. When this was done there was reevaluation in terms of what more needed repairs. At first the insurance company did not want to remove the damaged hard wood floor. Once it was determined that the existing hardwood was to thin to resurface and use, the insurance company allowed the hardwood floor to be removed, the damage to the sub floor was exposed. The sub floor was removed and damage to the foundation was found and repaired all with cost approved by the insurance company and Sigura Construction.

The floor was leveled as part of my cost, but was necessary. Since the damage from the car was approved and paid by the insurance company, the reconstruction of the house moved along well in my opinion even with repairs being done over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. One area that this contractor did was kept his word. I met with the contractor on February 27, 2014 and  during this meeting asked if he could complete this task by March 28, 2014. He said yes he could have it done. I made arrangements for the renter to be able to move in on March 28, 2014. The work on the inside of the house was complete. There was a couple of items on the outside of the house that was not complete, but it did not affect the renter from moving in.
