    TJS Construction Co.
We had crude plans. As with most projects made some adjustments from the original scope of work were needed. TJS was accommodating and made several recommendations which were followed. TJS also gave us trade-off options, where we could keep the costs consistent with original project estimates. Great job by TJS, recommend without reservations.

Awesome crew! They show up exactly when the promise, do great work and clean up when they leave! I am so happy! I was considering new cement but this looks awesome and less than 1/2 the price. The finished on time...

I asked for a quote on removing and re pouring a 750 square foot perfectly rectangular concrete pad, a small sidewalk leading to it, and rebuilding a retaining wall that is about 120 square feet. The quote was over $35,000. They wanted over $15,000 for just the retaining wall. A cinder block wall. Nothing fancy. My driveway was $6,000 and is 800 square feet, and they wanted almost triple for the same amount of work. They did not tell me anything about minimum job requirements, they just sent me the highest quote I have ever received. Even with the 30% discount coupon through Angie's List, their quote would still be about double what other's have quoted. They were very professional, but please look around for more affordable options. I believe they significantly increase their rates to offer what seems like a great coupon online.

Looks beautiful. I had a few problems along the way. Price quoted by contractor orally was $5500. Then contract arrived for $6500. His explanation was that it was 5500 in addition to the $1000 deposit. Then we disagreed on how much work he had agreed to orally. My lesson is to have contractor or me make a drawing agreed on by both with measurements so there is no confusion later. Also missed an appointment for return for cleanup. Overall though I got a really nice result.

    Parker Concrete
The project went better than I could have imagined. There was some back-and-forth discussion about the final scope of the project, mostly due to my ignorance, and Dave Parker was very responsive and patient in leading me through that. Once the start date was set, Dave and the team arrived on schedule and completed everything within the time estimated. The finished project really adds to the appearance of the outside of the house and the new sidewalk is much safer.

Overall, I am satisfied with the end result. Before committing I recommend taking as much time as needed to assure there is a mutual understanding of the scope of the project and expectation of service delivery.  Get it in writing. ( i did not ) Be watchful, as a detail like placing a pipe under the slab for future utilities was not delivered as requested.  Lastly, be prepared to be asked for final payment before the concrete hardens.  I paid the entire amount on a Thursday with a promise that the contractor would return on Monday to remove the pylons and patch the asphalt where it meets the street. That day was two days ago. I prefer take care of the asphalt repair myself so we can use the driveway right away.

    Parker Concrete

Job was exceptional!   They cleared out the area where I wanted the walkway, poured and leveled out the area.   They  discovered 2 rotted fence posts at the end of the area where the concrete was being poured, and they went and got new posts and replaced the posts as well.   Now I have a great walkway with brand new posts anchored in concrete.   It is terrific.   The concrete bordered a house/flowerbed on 1 side and a neighbors driveway on another, and  existing concrete on a third side.  The concrete was a perfect match to the desired height on all sides.  I am extremely happy with the work.  Dave Parker even came to my place of work so we could sign the contract, thus saving me precious time.  .

    Tru-Block Masonry
Mike from Tru-Block met with me twice, once to view and quote the job, and a second time to work out the details.  We wanted to be sure we had the same vision in mind.  Mike was able to listen to my ideas and offer constructive suggestions.  Because I tend to speak at the 100 foot level when describing my concepts, I felt comfortable asking Mike his opinions in filling in the details.  We came to an agreement and I chose my color from the catalog, and visited RCP to be double sure.
The first day Tru-Block was on the job I liked how they prepared the base, but noticed the color of the block was not what I had expected. The catalog and RCP display had some multi-colored stones mixed in with the Brownstone I selected.  What I had appeared to be all one shade.  I sent Mike an email explaining this.  The next morning Mike showed up with an assortment of  golden, brick red and charcoal brown to mix in with the brownstone. Perfect.  When I thanked Mike for doing this he essentially told me that 'if I am not happy, then he is not happy'.  The worker placing the stones on the base said 'we treat this like its our own home'. Mike smiled when I told him I wasn't just happy, I am Very Happy.  Moreover, I am very happy to share my experience with you.

I think I liked that he gave me an estimate before he left. He had brought his little laptop with him and a little printer and he created a 3D view of what it would look like. I just liked that because it could help me imagine what it would look like in the end. My interactions with him was good. He did add a fire pit that I didn't ask about. He just said, "Oh well I added that to the rendering so you could see where it would fit and how it would like." He put 1500 for that. I still liked the idea. It was a better way to upsell, I guess. He was punctual. He did call and say he was going to be 30 minutes late but he gave me plenty of time for that.

    Paving Stone Of San Diego

They were GREAT! From estimate to final billing----very caring and professional. (Kudos to Matt Layman!)

All were professional, answered all questions, very clean, and performed great work!

During and after this work was done, many from the neighborhood commented on how fast and efficient the crew was--how great the result looked.
