The owner came out to inspect our chimney and was able to the work the same day. He was a pleasure to work with and clearly loved what he does. He took the time to explain in detail the types of cement and layers that would be needed to repair the cracks on the top of our chimney as well as put in a new spark guard. Did everything necessary for a working fireplace for us to enjoy for winter. Gave recommendations for further work down the road when we are ready. Was not pushy about more work than what was necessary. Would recommend.

It went well. They found something wrong that cost a little more. I believe them it was an issue, they showed me pictures. That turned into $1500. I was like wow, that is a big difference. It just seemed expensive to me. I am not fully qualified. I didn't get any bids. They were really prompt, nice, and showed me pictures. They got it done quickly, and cleaned up after themselves. That was good for contractors. There were two workers. They were there for four hours. I hope I don't have to use them again.

The work was done on time. Everything was fully explained and the pluses and minuses of different steps were discussed. There was no mess. We don't use the fireplace very often but it is very reassuring to know that, when we do, it is safe as well as functional.

Michael and his assistant arrived right on time.  Loved that Michael had on his Chimney Sweep hat!  They promptly inspected the fireplace both inside and out and explained (in more detail than I understood) exactly what the issues were.  He knew that my condo was part of a homeowner's association so wrote up a very detailed estimate for repairs that I could submit to the HOA Board.  Hopefully the Board will approve their suggested repairs and I will be able to have them come back and do the work.

They contacted us in 2014 about 10 months after the job and asked if we wanted them to come back.  We said no and that we would like them not to call us, we would call them if wanted further service. They were polite and said that they would not call us. Several months later they called again. I spoke to someone at the company and reiterated we did not want to be called. I was promised that they would not call.  The same thing happened again about 6 months later.  Finally we ignored their repeated calls when we saw their name on the phone.  The company, with the name Chimney Sweeps (619-631-0275) called again the week of 6/15. I told them that if they call again I would report them which I have done.  They called again today 6/22 and I spoke to someone who said their name was Gary Sills, allegedly the supervisor of the phone solicitors for Chimney Sweeps.  I told him that I was filing a complaint. He claimed they only called me once in 10 months. I told him the phone ID reads Chimney Sweeps with the same phone number.
All I would say is that if you do not want to be harassed keep away from this company.

Purchased an Angie's List deal for a chimney sweep and inspection.  This company was very responsive and easy to communicate with.  They arrived on time on the day of service.  The serviceman noted items that needed to be repaired and performed the work on the spot.  I feel like for the time and materials it was a little more expensive than I would have preferred, but they did excellent work.

Since the home was new to us we felt before we should us the fireplace it should be serviced. However after getting the Angie's list deal we couldn't get in contact with the provider. Even after several tries. Weeks then Months went by. Finally we had no recourse but to ask Angies list to find us another service or refund. We ended up with a refund.

    F & M MASONRY CONSTRUCTION INC.
The chimney was damaged by a tree limb during a storm. My insurance company sent over a masonry company who rebuilt the chimney. It was not done properly, including leaving out the flue piping. His price was about $800 less than the insurance company's mason and he did install a flue.

We met Mario through an ad in the local paper. He rebuilt the chimney with a flue and properly dyed mortar. He also cut brick so that the chimney was a consistent size. New brick is slightly smaller. I am in the construction business and a mason contractor that I know described the chimney as "beautiful" last year.

Mario also replaced the sidewalks. He installed blue stone on the front walk and also covered the concrete steps with blue stone.  The work has held up well and still looks great 10 years later.

The latest project was in October of this year. (2014). His crew tuck pointed and repair masonry as necessary. My house was built in 1926 and has very narrow mortar joints that hold up very well. His crew ground out 3/4" of bad joint and repointed with properly died mortar to march the existing mortar.

Mario is tremendous craftsmen who takes great pride in his projects. I have one more project that I am contemplating which is to replace my driveway. Mario will complete that project.

I highly recommend Mario for any project you have in mind.

Swede Chimney Sweep & Dryer Vent Cleaning
Terri and Rick are a terrific husband and wife team.  Terri is the coordinator and Rick does the on-site work.  Both are extremely professional, punctual and thorough.  They have kept their company to just the two of them so they can control customer satisfaction.
When we called to make an appointment, Terri answered right away and was very nice to deal with.  The only available appointment was over a month out, and we took it.  However, Terri called us a couple weeks later to say they had a cancellation later that week, so we jumped on it.
Rick came out and did a terrific job cleaning and inspecting our chimney.  He said we should get a chimney cap to keep out critters, so we had him install one right then.  He also recommended repairing the masonry on the back wall of the fireplace (which we already knew we needed).  We've scheduled that repair for February with Terri and look forward to Rick's return!
I highly recommend this small company to anyone.

    KLEEN SWEEP
I called Matt at Kleen Sweep back in the summer of 09 to look at a fireplace and chimney the home inspector told me needed repairs before it could be used. Matt told me I was calling at just the right time, as his prices are naturally lower during the "off-season" of summer. He came over, (took the time to make peace with my dog which always impresses me!), and looked at the fireplace and chimney and told me what repairs I needed and quoted a very fair price. He also advised me to put a rain cap on the chimney which not only protects against rain, but critters setting up house and told me I could actually get one cheaper at the fireplace store in La Mesa than what he could provide one for! I thought that was cool of him to be so honest. So I made arrangements for him to come back to clean and repair as well as install the rain cap I would buy from the store. He did all that for $180 and cleaned up impeccably after himself. The repairs were critical as they were cracks in the mortar which could cause the fire to get inside the walls! He did an exceptional job. He stated he would send a reminder notice each year during the summer to remind to have him come check my chimney and see if it needed cleaning. I ignored the notice last year, but just recently had him come check this year. He looked at it and said it wasn't time for a professional cleaning yet and didn't charge me a dime!!! I think some other folks might try to sell you on the cleaning for the easy buck or at least charge you for coming out! Matt is clearly a businessman of great integrity who knows how to treat a customer right and gain their loyalty. I will not use anyone else for my chimney/fireplace services!
