    La Canada Dental Group
I went in for a cleaning and ended up with a molar cracked to the root. Until this happened at the beginning of 2016, I had been Dr. Robert Tahani’s patient at the La Canada Dental Group for nearly three years. Immediately after the cleaning, while my thoroughly-numbed mouth masked the damage, Dr. Tahani told me that I should have thousands of dollars in dental work performed during 2016 on teeth that I had never complained about. Hours later, when the analgesics for the cleaning wore off, I experienced excruciating mouth pain. I contacted Dr. Tahani’s office seeking relief, but he was unavailable and had made no arrangements for emergencies in his absence. So I was on my own. When he finally saw me, Dr. Tahani diagnosed a molar cracked to the root for which he prescribed opiates. But he would not take responsibility for the injury -- even though his office manager included a note of apology for my suffering handwritten on the subsequently paid invoice. (See attached.) During a visit to fix the injury, I asked Dr. Tahani if we could review my x-rays to determine how long I could put off the extensive dental work he’d advised before the cracked molar came to light, given the extended period of discomfort his office had just provided. But Dr. Tahani refused to let me see my x-rays, claiming they had been lost in a computer disaster along with all backups. I now have a new dentist who does not insult my intelligence. He works out of a single office, employs a highly-skilled hygienist and has plans in place for patient emergencies 24/7; things I had previously taken for granted. He told me that I am unlikely to need the dental work Dr. Tahani had suggested anytime soon -- though I might need a root canal or implant surgery (which could cost as much as $7,000) to relieve the lingering pain from the cracked molar that was included with my last cleaning at the La Canada Dental Group.   F
